Detailed Reviews
Great location. Conveniently located close to city centre, supermarkets and restaurants. You can easily walk to these places and if you like longer walks you can hike to Cataract Gorge too.
Our cabin is lovely, clean and spacious. It has a full kitchen with a full size fridge and a microwave. The bed is firm and comfortable. Bathroom is huge and very clean.
Although, the Park is off the highway, you do hear minimal noise from passing vehicles which didn’t brother us at all as the location was second to none.
The park and garden is immaculate with a lovely safe play area for children. There is a common area for laundry for a fee.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay here very much and would highly recommend anyone who visit Launceston.

Margaret W

We chose Big 4 Launceston for our first trip in our new caravan, with our young family and friends/ families. We booked a powered cement site. Nothing was ever too much trouble, from changes due to accidentally booking wrong dates, to letting us come back for the caravan on checkout, we were very happy.
Even though the park is off the highway I can honestly say the road noise never crossed our mind. It was close to lots of attractions.
The amenities block has been recently updated with new toilets and showers.
The laundry features great washing machines and dryers along with an ironing board and Iron if required.
Friends of ours stayed in the two bedroom unit with the children it was very modern spacious and clean.
All of our children appreciated the large jumping pillow and play equipment.
The cleaning staff do an amazing job ensuring the facilities are spotless, we had a great time and will most certainly be back. Thank you for making our stay enjoyable.

Thank you so much for choosing to stay with us and taking the time to leave us this lovely review. We are glad to hear you enjoyed your stay. It has been so nice to see children back on the Jumping Pillow and in the Play Ground after what seems like forever. We look forward to welcoming you back to our park again in the future.

We stayed here over Christmas in a Tamar Villa and had a great time. The villas overlook the jumping pillow and our son was always on it and making friends across the campground. The villas were brand new with very comfortable beds and high quality linen. The bathroom had the best shower I’ve had in a while (although it did leak into the rest of the bathroom so we needed to dry out the bath mat each day) and the kitchen was well equipped.
The reception area wasn’t finished and had painting still to be done. The staff must’ve also been quite new and weren’t sure of costs of some items but were friendly.
The only real downside was the location next to the freeway with regular traffic noise. However the villas were quite soundproof so wasn’t an issue for us for sleeping.
They have big plans for the future and I look forward to seeing what it’s like next time we visit. Hopefully there is some trees to provide a barrier from the freeway by then...

I stayed in the Tamar villa unit. It was spotlessly clean and the staff were friendly and helpful, including turning on lights before a late arrival. With double glazed windows, heat pump air con and walk in shower the unit was comfortable with easy parking at the door. This is the fourth time I have stayed at this park since 2021 and I intend to stay again as rates are reasonable.

We made an honest mistake based on our stays in all other Big 4s and assumed that our dog would be ok if she stayed at our vehicle while we stayed in a cabin. This is not the case at Launceston Big 4, no one must be able to see your dog, you can not walk your dog on a lead. This means our dog had to stay inside our vehicle which is dangerous in high temperatures. We were required to drive outside the park to walk our dog. We of course would have been happy to not stay in this park but were denied a refund or allowed to pay a cancellation fee. As mentioned by another reviewers the young girl at reception was very rude and completely lacking in empathy, almost appeared happy at our situation. This attitude completely spoiled our stay. The owners also claimed to be too busy to speak to us when we wanted to discuss any other options. And so whilst they got $170 out of us for the night they now get a bad review for forcing us to stay somewhere we were obviously unwelcome. The cleaner who witnessed the discussion was the only one displaying any empathy and the cabin was very clean.

I'm sorry you assumed our park was pet friendly and would certainly advise that you check with the park directly if you are ever not sure. We understand that there is a large number of travellers that take their pets with them on holidays, it has been our decision to not be pet friendly to protect the large population of native animals that reside at our property and also to accommodate the travellers that aren't wanting to be around domestic pets. Our receptionist certainly wasn't 'happy' by your situation nor did she deserve the lack of respect shown to her, as per our booking terms, you were entitled to cancel your stay and forfeit your deposit, which she had offered to you but was declined.

My Wife and I stayed here with our Grandson during an RV trip around Tasmania
The park is very well presented and the grassy powered RV sites give plenty of room. Park amenities were very well presented and the grounds well tended. Unfortunately the open grassy area next to our RV was literally covered in animal (? dog) droppings which made it impossible to use our awning/table and chairs. Having done our best to clean up we had the same problem the next day. The site is unfortunately pitched on a hillside overlooking a very busy and noisy highway which disturbed our sleep as did the digger which was laying pipe work near to our site at 0730 hours.
Whilst the park is obviously striving to provide high quality surroundings/facilities, unfortunately the location lets it down badly

Dear Coljanford, Our park is located in the city of Launceston where it is close proximity to the shops, restaurants and the local tourist attractions.  We are sorry to hear the location is not suited to you. Our park is not pet friendly, but we do have pademelons (small wallabies), possums, rabbits and bandicoots roaming the park after the sun goes down. We do hope that you and your family still managed to enjoy some of your stay.

Amenities very good. Showers hot and toilets very clean. Camp kitchen clean and tidy but small and not enclosed. There is ample space between sites and the low lite walkways excellent at night. Staff extremely helpful organising a taxi and walking routes to the city centre. Maps helpful

Disappointed with this park to end our holiday considering most of our trip we have been spoilt with the natural beauty that Tasmania has to offer. The location is too close to the main highway which makes for a noisy & unsightly experience. We are also positioned in our camper van close to the only skip bin in the park. Showers were hot & clean. Amenities appear to be recently partly renovated but look closely & the job is dodgy & the ceiling in ladies toilets are mouldy or dirty. There were earth works occurring when we arrived above the hill where the new cabins are which looks like a landslide waiting to happen with a huge amount of rain to come. Our site is powered on concrete slab for $58 for 1 night. Don’t feel like we have any privacy as our site backs onto another one & is on the end. Only chose this caravan park due to convenience. The Big4 enterprise should be able to afford a more beautiful natural setting & location for a caravan park in Launceston. Wouldn’t choose to stay again. Not good value for money.

Hi Ellen, I'm sorry to hear that your stay with us was less than perfect. As I am sure you can understand, we cannot have the convenience of being walking distance to Tassie's second largest city without some element of noise, and whilst many find this advantageous we understand it doesn't suit everyone. As a point of clarity, our park isn't owned by the 'BIG4 enterprise', we are a small family owned business that chooses to be a part of the BIG4 network of holiday parks. We want all of our guests to have an enjoyable experience at our park ,and should we have been made aware of your dissatisfaction we would have happily provided you with a refund as well as helped you to make alternative arrangements.

We stayed over the winter months due to COVID19. The park is neat and clean. The amenities are very clean and the hot showers are to die for. Laundry facilities are also great with washing machines, dryers and ironing board with iron. Children's jumping pillow available. Barbecue facility available under cover. We also had the opportunity to stay in one of their many cabins which are very clean and well equipped, modern and comfortable. You can also walk into the city, Cataract Gorge or Kings Meadows in the opposite direction if you are fit or you can catch the bus to either destination from the main road. There are also two cafes in walking distance, one being in the Door of Hope Christian Church and "The Look Cafe" Thristle Street W where the Launceston Eye Institute and Tasmanian Eye Institute are located. Would highly recommend staying here. We found the staff to be very friendly, helpful and the owners are very accommodating. We enjoyed our stay immensely.

The staff were extremely friendly, and the room was great - very new, very clean, and with all the essential cooking things. The park is right next to a main road, so there is a lot of traffic. That didn’t bother us, but if you’re a light sleeper, I’d suggest specifically booking a room up the very back.
Our room was right in front of the jumping pillow, which would have been ok, but it wasn’t deflated overnight like most parks I’ve stayed in. On two seperate nights, there were kids bouncing and shrieking well after 10pm one night, and after 10:30pm the other, which woke up our children multiple times. It would be nice if the jumping pillow could be deflated nightly to stop this.
The only other issue we had was the very dismal amount of dish soap in the room. We booked in for a 4-night stay, and were given 2 individual sachets of dish soap (so enough for 2 lots of dishes). As we were cooking our own breakfast and dinner daily, these were gone by our first morning. Reception opens fairly late and closes fairly early for a Big 4, so we were caught out in being able to get some more when needed, but managed to get a few more sachets one afternoon. The morning we left, we realised we had no more dish soap, and we had to leave before reception opened. We were lucky enough to find a cleaner who could give us soap to wash the dishes, but it left us wondering how many other people had just rinsed them before putting them away due to the lack of soap.

Dear 48katyh, thanks for taking the time to write us a review. We are sorry to hear you had uncomfortable nights during your stay with us. Our jumping pillow is currently on a timer and if you had made us aware by coming to Reception or ringing our Emergency Phone we could checked it and made adjustments. We provide complimentary essentials for your stay and send you SMS on your 2nd day asking if you require more supplies. We hope to see you again in the future.
