After looking at the advertising decided to book into this grand old dame for 3 nights, We had booked a double room but were given a large queen room because we asked to be downstairs. Great for us ,as my sister had a double room and it was a box ,same price. The first thing we noticed is that the...

We booked to stay here and then had to change our booking - way too much trouble, but we persisted. We arrived and seeking to confirm an earlier request for a 7am breakfast (that had been met with a 'no problem') was told that was way too much trouble. The next morning when we did head to the restaurant for...

We have just returned from a lovely stay at the new Areca wing of Waratah on York. Thank you for the upgrade to the new accommodation wing. Lovely breakfast served in the new dining room. Good location within an easy walk to the centre of town.

This is a shabby place we could not believe it ,don't stay here. Feels grubby and unclean. The room we paid for says , executive suite with spa with beautiful Tamar river views, DON'T FALL FOR IT, there are NO views, you wouldn't get in the spa for fear of getting a nasty bug it's naffff to say the least...

We stayed on the top floor of the old part of the hotel with a private balcony that had views over the city and up the Tamar Valley. It was quite a climb to the top and the previous reviews about it being old are on the whole pretty accurate. It could definitely do with a coat of paint, some...

From the moment we arrived after our late flight into Launceston, and welcomed by darling Janine, we felt at home immediately, and after our first night decided to extend our 2 night stay to 3 nights. To our surprise, the next morning Janine was once again welcoming us, and cooking a first class breakfast, all included in the very reasonable...

Waratah on York in Launceston is gorgeous - inside and out. We were moved to a brighter room with airconditioning as they were experiencing a heat wave. The bed and the pillows in our room were like sleeping on a cloud - literally. The chef Michael was very pleasant and happy to cook whatever you could want for a hot...

Total disaster from the time we entered our room. Room was dirty, carpet stained, television wouldn't work, faulty power switches in the room making lights flickering on and off through the night felt unsafe. Manager advise was she was unable to get electrician as it was the weekend. No apologies and no offer for another room. No hair dryer in...

The room was clean, the bed was very comfortable. It had an unusual mix of old and chinese furniture. Could have done with a carpet in the hallway to cut down on the noise of people walking past our room. Breakfast was in the building behind but was very good. Would recommend.
