Magnificent stay in a truely old world Hotel! Felt privileged to spend our time in the well kept and presented charm of the 1847 era Colonial Hotel! It’s a credit to the friendly and helpful owner who takes so much pride to maintain such for travellers to enjoy! Easy walking distance to shops parks hospital etc and we could leave the car on the electric car charger…what an added bonus. Whilst we didn’t use the gym many were seen to be making good use of it. The 3 Steps on George restaurant attached to this establishment offered a diverse menu with many great choices.

This hotel is not only perfectly situated in central Launceston, near parks and churches, but it also has its own Telsa charging station!
The restaurant has great food try the lamb shoulder, and happy hour drinks on Fridays, the best way to start your weekend.
The rooms are newly renovated and the beds very comfortable, soaps smell amazing and even USB charging in the room.

They should rename the Colonial "The miles of smiles hotel" because even though I have previously stayed there the staff continue to welcome you, assist you, go out of there way to make sure your stay is comfortable and hassle free and all the time smiling and making you feel at ease. I had to cancel one nights accommodation due to me being told my wife was being transferred to another town, it was handled professionally and with the usual smile. Then I was informed the transfer was cancelled and upon phoning the colonial was given the same room and was advised the office would remain open until 9pm in case I was late leaving the hospital. It was just so thoughtful and one less thing for me to worry about. The rooms were spotless, spacious and inviting and the meal I enjoyed at Three Steps on George restaurant was great as was the cold refreshing beer. I will return.

Modern design property with white and bright color tone. Very large bath room with washing machine and drying machine. The owner use good quality things such as bed sheets and blankets, famous brand kettle, well known brand shampoo and shower...etc. The location of property is a bit uphill with peaceful atmosphere. Car can be parked in the parking slot on the road just opposite the property without charge, but need to learn about the road rules. One thing need to be improved is to provide box tissues inside the property. Overall comment is positive towards the stay.

This hotel offers quality accommodation for all ages with rooms & apartments to suit everyone.Prices are very reasonable & the rooms are very clean & well supplied with tea & coffee making facilities & biscuits supplied ( a rarity) in a lot of rooms these days.
Bathrooms are supplied with shampoo, conditioner & liquid soap in one dispenser, & I was very impressed with the makeup lights above the normal large mirror.
Overall I would thoroughly recommend this hotel.It also has a great restaurant & amazing breakfast room. Can' wait to stay again.

Lovely place to stay, central within walking distance to everything from the Launceston General Hospital, which was the unfortunate reason for our visit, to all of the eateries and shops in town. Staff were all incredibly helpful to us at what was a difficult time, and having room service, free wifi, Netflix, all the amenities we needed and friendly faces made a difference. We ended up staying for 10 days in total, and often ended up eating at the restaurant or having room service because the food was good, not just because it was there. It has a lovely old world character but still has all the facilities that you need in a hotel and the location is great, too. It also has free parking, which you don’t have to book.

We booked this hotel because we needed to be near the hospital for a family member.
From booking to check in it was a breeze.
Kristina was our phone contact and was so helpful, nothing was too much trouble
At checkin we were greeted by the owner and made feel so welcome it was like visiting a long lost friend
Our rooms, as requested were on the ground floor and next to each other, dinner reservations made and complimentary drinks offered
We can whole heartedly recommend staying at this locally owned establishment

First off, the location of the hotel is highly confident since it’s a 5 minute walk down to the super markets and right next to it is a great park to take a walk in after dinner. There are tons of parking spaces to park in so that will never be an issue. No matter how hard you have messed the room, they’re always going to be spotless thanks to the great cleaning staff that do a spectacular job. The showers are great and the rooms are also really spacious. A definitely must stay hotel if you’re visiting Launceston.

I’m almost reluctant to write this review because I’ve now found the perfect place to stay for work in Launceston and I don’t really want to share!!
The ground floor 2 bedroom apartment no 127 I think it is was perfect. It’s small but has everything you need. It could be a bit dark but for the excellent glass enclosed patio with a table and bench seats.
New kitchen with a modern red splash back and a 2 burner hot plate, oven, dishwasher, microwave. Everything you need. Large enough bathroom and 2 good sized bedrooms. Comfy beds and pillows. Robes, lots of towels.
Great value and excellent location.
We tried the express breakfast of a bacon and egg muffin with a real coffee of your choice for $9.00. Excellent idea very well executed. The only feedback would be to offer a juice instead of a coffee for the weirdos like my co worker who would prefer that.
The front of house staff were excellent and friendly. Will definitely be back.

Thank you for your enquiry. Our hotel rooms contain coffee, making facilities and a minibar fridge - no microwaves or toasters. We have a range of studio rooms with limited cooking facilities ie 1 hotplate, microwave and toaster or we also have some apartments available with full kitchen and laundry facilities.

"the small house" that you are seeing from the photos I believe is our main building which houses our reception, restaurants and function centre. Behind this building is our accommodation wing. We have 3 levels, ground floor, 1st and 2nd floor and unfortunately do not have any lifts. We would be more than happy to assist you by taking your bags to your room on arrival and from your room on departure.
We provide tea/coffee free for all rooms with a kettle in each room. We also have a free coffee machine in reception as wells as free internet, car parking and movie channels.
