Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Comfortable room, especially the bed! Provided everything we expected. It was quiet, clean and roomy with tea and coffee making facilities. Very warm welcome, helpful and straight forward checking. The hotel is well situated with onsite parking. Very happy to recommend this hotel.

Very comfortable room with lovely courtyard and great ambience, art works all thru the property. Good off-street parking. Staff were very helpful. Property is 10mins walk from centre of the city, lots of great cafes and restaurants. Will definitely stay here next visit to Launceston.

Great accommodation in a unique old building of Launceston. Brilliant staff, great courtyard, easy access parking. Excellent rooms, great quality bedding and linen. Fast internet, plenty on offer in the mini bar Great location, central to some pubs and cafes but also quiet at night.

The Art Hotel on York - Honestly such a cumfy stay and a very reasonable rate for such high quality furniture and great service staff. They were very helpful with organising transport to the airport and storing my bags after check out. I would recommend this place to anyone staying in Launceston

Great bed, huge tv. Good wifi. Bathroom dated and found coffee cups not cleaned from last guest. Nice toiletries, free parking. Overall good for an old building. Would have liked somewhere to sit in the foyer (no access to waiting chairs before 8 or 9am??

Do NOT recommend. Booked hotel room $177 for 1 night. Booking said check-in 2pm-12am. Arrived at 11pm to no receptionist. Called the enquiry number and was told that they can't find my booking, I kept getting put on hold. I was told to wait till 11:30 for someone else to call me in regards to my booking, if no call, call back. I had no call, called them back just for the lady to say we have your booking. I was then charged for room over the phone. Got my keys and as there were no clear signs it took me a while to find my room which was hidden by a door on the side. Checked-out and the lady said no payment had gone through for the room so if she could use my card that they have to charge me? I showed proof I paid and she "left a note" then charged me $3 for freaking water?

Not the hotel I thought it would be from its own website. Poor quality fittings, example the toilet seat didn't fit, loose taps, no USB points at all and the power points for bedside recharging required crawling under the bed. Reception opening hours restrictive, lots of stairs to our room (not mentioned). If it were at a different price point, I'd be OK with this laundry list of issues - but its not... I would have raised this with reception when we checked out at 0830 but it wasn't open.

Lovely old fashioned room with a very comfortable four poster bed, and stylish armchair. I loved the blue curtains and eiderdown and pretty wallpaper. It is so much nicer than a typical hotel room.
