We were staying behind the building, so it was quiet.

There was a parking lot, the rooms were spacious, and the showers were easy to use.

It was in the city center, and it was conveniently located near the long-distance bus stop.

It was on the opposite side of the street from the supermarket, but I think it was within walking distance.

Perhaps because it was the weekend, the reception was not open, and we were told to call an outside number if we needed anything. We wanted to use the heater, but the credit card number for the damage deposit had been printed on it, and the heater was simple, so we refrained from using it for fear of it breaking down.

The hotel is very central in downtown Launceston, and the centre of town is only 5 or so minutes walk away. Our room was warm and spacious with a large bathroom and a spa bath big enough for 2, plus a separate shower. The manager was very helpful, making sure we had everything we needed, and the tea/coffee making area in the room was particularly well done. There was plenty of safe, easy to use, parking in the hotel grounds and we were able to leave our car very close to our room. Our stay was at the beginning of our Tasmanian holiday, but we changed our plans to come back again at the end too

Bed & pillows great, Bathroom good. No breakfast available although there was a Restaurant in the hotel. This Restaurant was only open Wed. to Sat. nights with prior bookings. They fitted me in one night although only 8 other people in the Restaurant. The food excellent. No daily room cleaning service due to Covid so on Day 4 of a 6 night stay I requested cleaning. Tea/coffee provisions stale. When I asked for fresh provisions I was graciously given a new container, also stale, however a beautiful bottle of red wine was also waiting in my room for me and yes, room also cleaned. Staff helpful, listened to my feedback, acknowledged. A Breakfast at a local cafe required a 5 min. plus walk. I did a 7 min. walk to a wonderful Cafe, 'BLUE', open daily, can recommend. Located in the Tram Sheds area on the University of Tasmania & Museum property, just over the Esk River Bridge on the right. Follow the tram lines to BLUE. Would stay at this hotel again.

Had stayed at Grand Hotel Launceston pre covid, really enjoyed the venue - close to City Park and within walking distance to CBD and with an excellent restaurant.
We had booked a Deluxe Queen room that sleeps 3. At time of booking only my wife & I planned to stay. We stayed 2 nights, only coming into Launceston at night to sleep. At the last minute our grand daughter (Age 11) travelled with us on a family visitation.
As our Accommodation stated sleeps 3, we decided to advise hotel when checking in. On check in we were informed that our room consisted of a Queen bed only, sleeps 2. They promptly arranged for a fold up bed at an additional cost of $50.
The room was comfortable and clean. Bed was comfortable however pillows were lumpy solid ones, not pleasant.
Hotel web site indicated Restaurant. We understand that restaurant is operated separately from hotel, open only Tues to Sat. Friday evening meal was nice but expensive, for example a bottle of sparkling water was $11, and ice cream served with dessert was $5 per scoop extra.
We also learnt that breakfast was not available in restaurant and we needed to leave hotel for this. After searching immediate locations to no avail we drove to Kings Meadows for breakfast on both days and also for sat evening meal.
Accommodation booking advised towels would be changed every 2 days - we can live with that. It also stated housekeeping. When returning to our room for second night, no housekeeping had been undertaken- bit ordinary.
Overall stay was pleasant but a real contrast to an earlier stay. Staff were polite and obliging.
Will check out more venues for next trip to Launceston.

The positives first. The room was very large, comfortable, secure and clean and we had no issues with noise. The negatives. We were advised on check-in that the restaurant would be closed for all of June (school holidays included) due to staff maternity/paternity leave. This was not mentioned in the 'welcome' email we received two days prior to arrival and was obviously a major let down. There was no lounge or bar service and reception was the only operational area in the main hotel building - one staff member. We were also advised cleaning would no occur on a daily basis due to COVID issues...maybe short staffed...so every second day?? We stayed three nights and days and not once did the cleaners attend our room. Our bins were overflowing by departure. The dryer was also out of commission so we had wet clothes draped around our room. We booked the property for its historic 'charm' but with essentially no 'hospitality services' on offer, we were very disappointed. The property essentially feels like a part time operation. Sadly, could not recommend.

We travelled to Launceston from Hobart right after arriving that afternoon and due to changes in our flight, could not make it to check in before 6pm (Australia Day reception hours). Dean was very pleasant when I called to advise of our delay and promptly texted clear instructions for the after hours key pick up. We booked to stay for only 1 night.
My previous questions on parking was also promptly responded to - the hotel has onsite free parking which was a bonus to us.
We travelled as a family (with very young children) of 5 and had a very comfortable room which had 2 separate bedrooms. To my kids delight, each room even had its own TV. The bathroom was also spacious with double sinks and a big shower which had a handheld shower head - very useful if you need to shower young kids.
The only hiccup for us was our room being on the second floor (hotel had ground, first then second floors) with no lift so we had to carry kids and luggage upstairs that evening.
Hotel is also in a good location walking distance to some good cafes/bakeries for breakfast. Wifi was also excellent so my husband could easily work in the room. Thanks for a wonderful night stay!

We stayed there for two nights and the experience was very disappointing.
1. We arrived around 2pm to check in and we were told that the room is not ready yet due to staff shortage because of Covid. This is understandable. The receptionist told us it will be another 15-20mins. However, the room was not ready until 3:10pm.
2. No room service. We went out in the morning after staying one night and came back around 4pm and found out the room was not serviced. We can’t be bothered to ask them to do the housekeeping because that means we can’t be in our room due to their covid rules and we were so tired.
3. I was charged more than the amount I booked on Wotif. I asked the receptionist upon check out and was told that’s the credit card surcharge. I was not told when I paid for it. If he can let me know there will be surcharge for credit account, I can use my saving account to pay.
4. Fire alarm of one of hotel buildings went off at 7am which is really annoying and it turned out to be a false alarm.
5. We booked a deluxe spa room. The spa was not cleaned properly. We can see black gunk after we turned on the spa. The shower area is very small which is completely different from their website photos and cracked bathroom tiles. I’m not even sure if we were given the correct room.
6. The TV is not facing the bed because of the bunk beds in the room which we didn’t ask for!

I know it is hard time for all the business. However, the lack of communication and poor management make me strongly believe that it is not worth the money. I would not recommend.

Spoke to the Manager called Jay, extremely unprofessional and rude. When checking out I misplaced my key card, I went to the Reception and mentioned that to the reception guy at there and he said "Its all good, you're good to go" After a week when I had to go to Launceston for another work trip, I called and request to book the hotel again and spoke to the manager Jay, I was told I have to pay $100 for the lost card from the last stay before I can make another booking. Non of this was communicated to me when checking out. They are letting new $400 booking for a card which cost 10 cents. And being extremely rude and unprofessional. Post this Covid World the hotel and their management should be more polite, lenient and offering friendly experience, while Grand Hotel Launceston are doing the opposite.

On the cleanliness and room service, when you stay 2 nights or more, they don't change bedsheets and towels everyday, dont even empty the rubbish bins. They only change after your finish your multiday stay at the Hotel. Not so grand after all at Grand Hotel Launceston

Good location, friendly receptionist. But when it came time to try and sleep the noise from what I think must have been aircon or exhaust from the restaurant which was right between our 2 windows sounded like a plane taking off! It eventually turned off around 11pm. And to top that off was looking forward to a nice "hot " shower but was barely luke warm, so didn't stay in there long. Could hear if anyone walked up the stairs or spoke outside. Others we were travelling with had a much larger room a larger bed a couch to sit on all for the same cost as us, but they also had cold showers....
