Reception staff are friendly, informative and helpful. The rooms are just gorgeous. They are really well laid out and have all the necessities plus more. Modern without being trendy. Bathroom products are by Kevin Murphy and are in refillable pump containers. So much more user friendly that fiddle little bottles, and much more ecologically friendly. The bathroom design with toilet behind the solid shower wall is a good design. There were plenty of tea bags in each four flavours as well as coffee bags. The wall mounted television included a host of cable channels. Breakfast was delicious and the waitress very friendly, making everyone feel at home. The hotel’s location is excellent, only a couple of blocks from the main shopping area or the Redline bus terminal. Plenty of pubs and restaurants nearby. I would definitely stay here again.

The room was large and modern and pleasantly quiet. Lighting in the room was not great. The restaurant is only open for breakfast which was not great as we prefer to dine in the hotel restaurant after a full day of traveling. The hotel isn’t close to other restaurants and if we didn’t have the car we would have to take a taxi or walk which isn’t good for someone who has walking issues. The on-site car park fills up quick but if you park on the street or another close by car park after 5:30pm then it’s free. Wifi was okay but kept kicking us off and we had to keep logging back on. This is a relatively new hotel was surprised to see the lighting strip along the top of the bed hadn’t been installed properly it had bowed in the middle.

Hi Peta, Thanks for taking the time to review your recent stay - glad to hear it was a relaxing stay for you. We are working on our dinner menu & it will be open soon - however we are lucky to be a short walk from so many great local restaurants. I'm sorry there was issues with WiFi, our team could have addressed this & the bow in strip lighting had you advised us during your stay. Thanks again for your support of a Tassie owned & operated hotel! Kind Regards, Kate

We booked last minute for 2 nights over Easter when we were forced to cancel our planned to travel to Brisbane due to the latest lockdown. We could not have been happier with our decision to stay in Launceston and at Hotel Verge.

The staff are warm friendly and accommodating.

The new boutique hotel is beautiful and well designed. We particularly loved the artwork and wood details. It is defiantly worth upgrading to a “Verge Luxe” room, to gain the benefit of the amazing views from levels 4 & 5.

As we had booked last minute, and unable to book a rental car in Launceston, so the location was absolutely perfect, a short walking distance to everything we needed. The farmers market next door on Saturday was brilliant, if we were staying longer in Tassie we would have defiantly stocked up on the fresh produce.

We have previously stayed at the Silo hotel in Launceston, I think Verge offers a better value and location for the price.

We certainly hope to be able to visit again, it was the perfect trip for some R&R

We recently stayed at the Verge on our Christmas holiday to Tassie. Having stayed in Launnie previously at the Colonial, we settled on the Verge due to the positive reviews here and the fact that the property is new.

Our room was very stylish and overlooked the car park and back to the city center, the Harvest markets are held each Sunday right next to the hotel. The room is well equiped and TV includes a full suite of Foxtel channels including movies which is a real treat. The room has no mini bar but reception sell items including local wines. Service was great throughout our stay and all the staff we encountered were friendly.

The Verge as the name suggests is on the edge of the CBD, across the road from Albert Hall and City Park and circa 5 mins walk back to Brisbane Street and the mall. There is a Coles about 10 mins walk away and a Japanese restaurant just around the corner and so is the famous Bread and butter coffee shop. Boags brewery is also around 5 mins walk from the hotel.

Overall we really enjoyed our 5 nights at the Verge and will be back on our next visit to Launnie.

Stayed here recently in a Verge Ultimate room. I found the room to be very spacious with an appropriate use of space in the floor layout. The large, separate lounge room includes some very comfortable seating and even manages to hide away a good sized desk space in the corner.

As the room was a corner room, the bedroom had great views back over Inveresk, with the very large bathroom overlooking the historic Albert Hall. Despite the usage of blacks and greys in the bathroom, the room itself remains very light and airy.

Breakfast was in Diverge which was reasonably priced and tasty!

The location on the edge of the CBD is excellent with City Park directly opposite and the weekend Harvest Market right next door.

A worthy new addition that will give the other industrial-luxe hotel, The Silos, some good competition.

Hotel Verge is 'our' kind of hotel - modern industrial, centrally located, environmentally aware. We stayed for two nights and were upgraded to a Luxe on arrival. Really cool room - large, big wall of windows, concrete ceiling, moody bathroom with large dispensers instead of terrible small wasteful bottles. Super comfy bed. Milk wasn't replenished after our first night, a weird oversight.

The reason for the four not five was a very annoying buzz coming from the aircon. I reported it pretty much straight after we arrived. We stayed over a weekend and I knew there was no way it could be fixed but as the hotel was full we also couldn't be moved. Sad to have to sleep with ear plugs in.

I gave the hotel feedback via email after we left and received an excellent email from the general manager. The buzz was fixed straight away. I also asked about why the little plastic milk containers as they are very unfriendly from an environment perspective. They do offer milk in a jug if requested but are also investigating better alternatives to the little containers. Health v convenience v environment is a difficult juggling act.

We didn't visit the restaurant but it looked as cool as the rooms. We'll try it next time we visit Launceston.

Very mixed thoughts about this hotel. We initially loved the look of the wood panelling of the interior design in the reception and common areas but then the design and materials used in the rooms for the ‘industrial luxe style’ just seemed to look pretty cheap. The sofa in the lounge area of the room feels seriously ‘industrial’ (!!!) - as in not comfortable and not classy at all. It is rock hard and cold, so not at all nice to sit in and enjoy the great On Demand Foxtel. We had to find the cosy blanket in the cupboard and spread it over the sofa to make it bearable to sit in!! Also, the bench in the bathroom has a fleck in the material chosen, so that makes it look dirty/dusty and you keep trying to wipe it clean!! A very weird choice.
We had the ‘ultimate’ room with a bath, which takes a century to fill due to low water pressure, and they don’t provide any soap/salts/bubble bath to use in the bath —- and you can’t move the bottles from the shower or basin as they are locked in as most hotels now do. Annoying! Those products are actually really nice though when you can use them in the shower.
Front of house staff were ‘hit and miss’. 50% were great. One woman in particular very pleasantly assisted with a champagne bucket etc etc and a few other items we needed for the room and was really professional and friendly. Others just didn’t engage at all when we walked by.
Parking is the real annoyance. Sure it is advertised as ‘subject to availability’ but if you are getting back after mid-PM, there’s no chance of getting one of the parks… especially since we observed that some staff park there.
We were looking forward to trying this new hotel but would try other places before returning as it seems just like a business/function hotel. What was perfect was the central location. Nothing much else really hit the spot ;(

Hotel Verge is fairly new in Launceston with all of the modern trimmings. It excels on every front. The room itself was quite affordable given how large and comfortable it was. All of the concealed bead lighting felt super luxurious, the bathroom was spacious and futuristic, and the bed was everything you could hope for. The furnishings were tasteful and definitely made a positive impression. The service was also noteable: staff at reception offered plenty of suggestions for local activities as well as hikes around other parts of the state. They couldn't be more helpful. Only two small gripes: the wifi was slow and unstable in the room, and there weren't enough car parks for all of the guests, so we had to park out on the street one night during the stay. Hotel Verge shouldn't be overlooked - it excels on every front and we had the best time there!

Hi David, Thanks for taking the time to leave such a detailed review! We really appreciate the feedback. Sorry to hear the wifi wasn't reliable for you - we haven't had that feedback before but we'll follow up with our service provider. We are lucky enough to have 35 car parks onsite for a CBD property but yes when we're busy it does fill up quickly. Saying this the overflow options are pretty handy with an array of off-street parking & next door car park (all free overnight). Hope to see you back in Tassie again soon! Cheers, Kate

We had no prior booking & just walked in off the street after researching hotels online.

1 night stay was a very reasonable price. They were able to upgrade us to a higher floor for the same price. Beautiful hotel which was well appointed & very modern.

Car parking was at a premium. Only a limited number of parks & as we arrived back from dinner quite late there was no undercover parking available & we had to park on the street.

Would highly recommend you visit this new hotel which is locally owned & not a chain
