Superbly located within Launceston's CBD, opposite the city's landmark City Park, The Florance is the perfect base to explore the region of Northern Tasmania. Inspired by the park side location, the botanical theme flows throughout the restored Victorian property bringing with it a sense of calm, and the perfect place to rest your weary head having spent the day exploring. We are situated in the hub of the original part of the early establishment of Launceston. Overlooking the incredible trees within the City Park, close to the very best restaurants and bars.

Detailed Reviews
Following a recommendation from a friend, our group stayed at "The Florance" both prior and following walking the Overland Track. From the moment we entered, we felt a complete sense of luxury and very homely accommodation. The rooms were very thoughtfully and tastefully appointed, décor and furnishings superb to say the least, our beds extremely comfy and we had everything we needed...attention to detail was incredible. Toby and Kate were the most accommodating hosts and very gracious in their manner providing a delicious continental breakfast including an array of cereal and granola, fresh fruit and yoghurt, cheese platter and a variety of artisian breads for toasting. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Toby and Kate's little gem "The Florance" and very much recommend to all travellers as it is in a great location and exquisite accommodation.

We stayed at this magnificent property mid week. It was so lovely and quiet. The room had excellent amenities, the wifi was fast and the shower was great. We really appreciated being met by Kate and given the property details. The hotel is within a strolling distance to the city and there are really good eateries near by. The free breakfast provided in the conservatory was also of a very high quality. We highly recommend this property as a great place to stay in Launceston.

Kate and Toby offer the perfect combination of contemporary style and all the comforts we look for. The Florence is recently renovated and all aspects are of a very high standard, it is quietly and graciously beautiful as befits this grand old Victorian house. Breakfast in the bright sunny communal dining area is covid safe but generous in quality and quantity, particularly as it is not additional to the very reasonable room rate.
Kate is a friendly and helpful host and I can’t wait to come back!

I was a bit disappointed after reading the reviews to be honest. The rooms are not big and have no wardrobe, and the hand basin is in the same room as the bed - presumably because it doesn’t fit in the small bathroom. There is no water in the rooms apart from the tap in the bedroom. The toiletries provided are minimal so I was glad I brought my own. The shower has weak water pressure which was a real downside for me after a day of touring and walking. There is no bath. Overall I think it is ok and very clean. But it is certainly not luxurious or particularly well appointed. Would I stay there again? No.

Thanks for the review, if you are after a larger room, we would recommend booking our king size room, not the standard queen. Thanks, The Florance

+1
We only had one night here, and were exhausted, but we loved every minute. The room was spotless and well appointed. The bed was SUPER comfy and the location was second to none. Highly recommend.
Be aware that breakfast is between 8am and 9am, so if you are leaving early you miss out.

This is a lovely, peaceful and picturesque hotel in a perfect location in the city. It is within walking distance to the city centre - restaurants, cafes and shops and all the key attractions in Launceston including the beautiful city park right across the road. The bed is extremely comfortable and the room was exceptionally clean with quality amenities and everything you need and more to relax and be comfortable.
There is private parking at the back. The conservatory is like a cosy cafe with plenty of natural light and a great place to meet fellow travellers and/ or just enjoy breakfast and coffee or tea in.
Kate and her team were very welcoming and friendly, made the booking process very easy and provided great advice on things to do and see. Would love to come back and stay again in future.

We stayed one night and booked the park facing king and queen bedrooms for a little more space having read reviews and tips . We were not disappointed . The rooms were new , clean and had all the right mod cons fpr a short stay. There is no 24 hour reception , a text is sent with the entrance code which only works from 2 pm checkin and keys are placed in the conservatory .
There is easy parking at the back but it’s important to note that if you have big bags ( as we did) you don’t need to carry them down the steps , there is a side entrance by the lane way to wheel your bags from the car park .
It’s a short walk to the centre of launceston ie shopping mall . It should be noted that park facing views will have street/ traffic noise. Also , it’s an old house so the doors are not completely sound proof.
Breakfast in COVID times was a tray in a paper bag with bowls/ cutlery , Muesli and a banana and apple . Staff will make you a coffee/tea and toast and boiled eggs in the conservatory .

I’ve stayed in many hotels in Launceston and none of them come close to the experience I had at The Florance. Before staying here I didn’t know this place but I’m so glad my employer chose this establishment for us to stay at. Upon arrival we were greeted by Kate and Tony who welcomed us and it was like arriving to a family members home, warm greeting and very welcoming. I was in room room six which was located on the lower level, the room was spacious, very comfortable bed and pillows, very clean and well maintained. Bathroom was very clean with a great shower and ample towels and toiletries. The room had tea and coffee facilities, yummy shortbread, milk and bottled water, wall mounted TV and air conditioning / heater.
Breakfast bags were available each morning (I didn’t eat breakfast but a colleague did and the breakfast bag had a great selection of food), eggs and bacon also available (not sure if this is always available though), also has other breakfast items available. Dining and sitting area was also a perfect addition.
Definitely recommend The Florance - location is perfect, being directly across from City Park (which was perfect for Festivale) and a 10min walk in to the heart of the city. Parking on site is also great too.

Beautifully maintained, this little gem certainly didn’t disappoint. Don’t be put off by the smaller rooms as they are very cleverly stocked with lots of hangers and hanging space and perfect if you need a quiet room for sleeping. The whole house is immaculately maintained and Kate whipped up a fabulous COVID breakfast that our whole group thoroughly enjoyed. It was really wonderful to gain lots of insight and ideas over our coffee from Kate who was a wealth of knowledge.

My mother and had a lovely stay at the Florance. A historic building which has been tastefully fitted out with modern art and clean, elegant rooms with comfortable beds. Private parking at the back of the hotel was a bonus for us and we benefited from such a central location with close proximity to the city attractions. The conservatory is a charming, light and open space in which guests can enjoy breakfast or read in the plant fringed lounge. Kate and Toby were friendly and considerate hosts and we look forward to returning in the future.
