This is your typical country motel - basic room and amenities. I had accidently booked incorrect arrival time through booking.com but they were able to put us into the 'deluxe' room and we were didn't have move to our 'basic' room for the other nights (I had booked the basic). The difference was a bigger bed, microwave and, most importantly, the room was the furthest away from the busy road. The bed was the biggest and most comfiest!! One person could jump around the other person did not move. Shower and ensuite were clean and staff were friendly.

You get what you pay for here. $99 for the night and we had a clean comfortable bed, a cup of tea but not much else. Wifi was patchy, window panes were rotten, the whole place desperately needs a paint. Oddly, a huge tiled spa bath was in the bedroom and took up a quarter of the room space. Certainly a one-of-a kind place, but definitely needs a major make-over.

Perfect for overnight. We had the family room which was really large with lots of comfortable beds. It was very clean. The managers were very nice. Close to town centre. Only thing that let it down was the pool was out of action and it was over 30 degrees a swim would have been great. Overall a pleasant stay. Thanks

Do yourself a favour and find somewhere else to stay. Have a look at the reviews on booking.com and the way management responds to any criticism, by being abusive and degrading to customers. Clearly this lack of professionalism shows the way in which the motel is poorly run. The motel is so dated and decrepit, it desperately needs a good clean and updating. The wifi sporadically works and when asked if there was a fix for it we were told “it should work”, we agree it should work but didn’t! The rooms, linen, towels and reception all smell like Indian food. As much as we, as a family enjoy Indian food we don’t want our bed and towels smelling like it! If you do stay please do not dare to offer any constructive feedback as you’ll be abused (after they’ve taken your money of course!).

The check in was simple and polite milk was given at reception to make coffee/tea the room was large bigger then expected and immaculately clean and very well equipped with all amenities of a standard motel suite tea/coffee/biscuits/hand-wash/shower wash and towels etc.. The shower was hot and had good pressure and the bed was large (king) and very comfy. The Tv and Aircon were also a good size to make the room comfy My only improvement would be darker curtains that are really block-outs and a couple of cushions and a throw rug for the couch (a blanket was in the wardrobe) but these small items make a stay cozy.

Good location but few other positive things to say about this place. Bed was horrible. Don't think there was a single spring in the mattress & thought it would swallow me whole. Pillows were like massive bricks. Horrible smell that constantly permeated the room. Shower was the absolute worst! Terrible water pressure & would go from scalding hot to freezing cold over & over for no particular reason. Bathroom fan did not work & the toilet would refill with a trickle. Would literally take over half an hour to fill. TV had terrible reception. There was a fridge & Wi-Fi. No hairdryer. I do not recommend this motel.

Old, smelly room. Dirty comforter, reused cutlery bag, crockery and condiments in a plastic tub. Hand soap and shower jell in dispensers, no shampoo or conditioner. Noisy taps and toilet door in room next door. Old and dated! Would not recommend this hotel regardless of being locked down due to covid. Make more of an effort! Very, very disappointed after having travelled from Melbourne.

Stayed there on Friday 21st February for one night. I booked this room through booking com and posted a review on their site which said for likes - not a lot, it was cheap and nasty and for disliked - it felt dirty, toilet didn't work properly. Properties response was "Thanks for staying at Motel Mount Gambier we appreciate your feedback. You throw something in toilet and it was blocked for that reason. We didn’t hear any issues from that room before and has to call plumber to fix it which cost me more than you paid for room night. My response to their comment is all I can say is why would I report this fault if I threw something down the toilet. It is more probable that previous guest did it and the motel did not check all in the room was ok when they cleaned it prior to my arrival. I'll leave it to you to check other reviews on trip advisor and elsewhere and let you decide if you want to stay there, I certainly won't be coming back there.

Sorry owners, but my stay here was less than enjoyable. While room was very clean, it was in serious need of some upgrades and maintenance. Doors don't close properly, and there was a freezing draught from the gap under the front door! Air conditioner was so noisy I had to turn it off, rendering it useless. Add the freezing draught and I was searching for anything warm to throw on the bed! Bathroom very outdated, and the showerhead sprayed everywhere but down. Other guests seemed to have no consideration, a couple having a headed domestic till 2am, and one group of tradies warming their truck up for 20 mins right out front. Not happy Jan! Chance of me staying again- very unlikely.

Avoid this place at all costs. Our room was dirty, failure to clean properly is a covid breach so avoid. Walls were very thin, all the noise from adjoining could be heard as well as every time they used the facilities as the waste water rushing through the pipes was clearly audible. No breakfast was available, located on a very busy road and cars could be heard all night. Simply avoid.
