The room we had was nice and clean, well furnished with kitchen sink, table and chairs as well as s 2-seater sofa. The room had what we needed except the shower room was inadequate: there were no hooks to hang clothes, and the wash basin had very little space for toiletries. See photos attached.

I travelled here for my work and stayed a weekend, while I didn’t stay in the room very much, there are still a lot of things to be said about The Commodore.
The room I had was spacious and everything I needed was accommodated for.
The highlight for me since I spent little time in the room itself was the staff members here.
First Chelsea at the front desk, she was able to make my check in seamless so I could focus more on getting my belongings into the room before swiftly departing for work shortly afterwards. She has been a delight to chat with as well her welcoming and friendly demeanour really elevated my experience.
Next would have to be the restaurant and their staff members.
My servers on the weekend were Kat and Lilly, they were exceptional and efficient with their service, on both occasions when I used the restaurant for breakfast warmly greeted me and walked me over to my table. Both of them were very knowledgeable about the menu and their vibrant and charming nature made me feel welcome in the space.
While I did not meet any other staff during my stay, I was definitely well catered for, the kitchen staff gave generous portions to my meals, the housekeeping staff had maintained my room while I was at work, overall a brilliant stay in my opinion, I would definitely check in here again.

We stayed one night on along drive between Adelaide and Melbourne. The furnishings in the room were very nice. There was considerable traffic noise at night and the ai-con was also noisy and in need of repair. Breakfast was OK, for the price. Tap water in Mt Gambier is hard, quite safe to drink but not a good drop. The Commodore supplies drinking water at $4.50 a bottle - enough said.

Hi In60s, We appreciate you taking the time to share your recent experience staying at The Commodore directly with the reception team as well as here via. TripAdvisor and on booking.com. We’re pleased to hear your feedback on our room furnishings, and regarding the air-conditioner, this was looked at following your check out; we’re happy to confirm it has been scheduled for repair and an upgrade. We would also like to touch on your feedback regarding our bottled water available in our rooms; as you highlighted, the tap water is safe to drink, but we do like to provide optional bottled water, and while it’s an additional charge, we also have filtered tap water available at request from our reception and would have been more than happy to provide this to you. Thank you again for taking the time to leave your reviews and for choosing to stay at The Commodore.

Regional Australia is packed with outdated motels that represent poor value. The Commodore is not one of them. Our experience here was pleasant with a price point (room rate- $167.00 per night), which was about right for this standard of place. The room was in good order and repair with quiet air conditioning and a clean, large bathroom. We stayed two nights and the room was serviced on the morning of Day Two (no longer a given in Australian motels). Car was right outside the room and the location of the motel was close enough to the C.B.D. that you could walk. One small point was that we were beside a main road, ask for a quiet room away from the busy road.

Comfortable room, traffic noise at night is uncomfortably loud. No wifi in our room; when we went to reception to ask for assistance, the young lady was not very accommodating. We were able to log on in reception but the minute we returned to the room, the wifi dropped. Wanted to buy a drink at the bar during the so-called 'Golden Hour' but the bar wasn't manned. Waited ten minutes for a staff member to appear. Prices were high in the restaurant, which was mostly empty during our stay.

Thanks so much for taking the time to share your experience, Nousvoici. We're sorry to hear about the wifi, and we appreciate you letting us know this wasn't available in your room even after logging in at reception. Leave it with us! We know how important wifi is, we'd be lost without it! We're disappointed to hear you weren't able to enjoy Golden Hour either, we'll be following up with our front of house team, because no one should go thirsty! Thank you for choosing The Commodore, and we hope to have the chance to welcome you again for a 5 star experience!

Far from the best accommodation in town and extremely disappointing. Booked a 'deluxe' room which was so far from deluxe it was not funny. Trading on past glory. Curtains broken and would not close, metal from the curtains on floor so clearly housekeeping had not vacuumed. Lights in bathroom rusty. Was told they cant fix things if they are not told about the. Sorry but it should not be the guest reporting this - housekeeping should be onto it.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, Shazzamelbourne; we are sorry to hear about your experience and agree that these things are not considered luxury, as well as not the experience we pride ourselves on. We've spoken to management to follow up further with our teams so these issues can be rectified, and again, we appreciate you sharing your feedback. We hope to have the chance to welcome you again and give you a deluxe experience.

The good news is that they were genuinely friendly, the room was spacious and comfortable, the location is quite good and if you want to you could walk into town and the breakfast that was included was really nice and plentiful.
The bad news is the wifi was very patchy, the TV was very old and the box that enables Foxtel and casting is a little hard to use. Finally, on Sunday morning at breakfast it was a chaotic scene with a full restaurant and only a couple of servers that were really out of their depth.
Overall, it was a good stay and I’d recommend it.

The motel is in a convenient location, about a 10 minute walk into the center of town and also close to the Mount Gambier Visitor Centre. The room was refurbished, spacious and bright, the bed comfortable and the towels new and fluffy. Double glazing meant the highway traffic did not bother us when the window was closed and it was nice to have the option of opening a window for fresh air. The kitchenette (with microwave, toaster and plates/bowls, but no stove top) was very convenient. However, on the downside: 1. Servicing of the room was not up to scratch - the rooms were not vacuumed and basins did not appear to be cleaned during our stay and some used towels were removed but not replaced. 2. The shower was quite small and there was only a small towel rack above the toilet. 3. The free wifi did not work for most of our stay nor did a couple of standard TV channels like 7 and 9.

Great location and it is easy to walk to the centre of town.
The rooms were neat and spacious, the toiletries were excellent. Parking was easy.
It was good value , especially with breakfast included ( although , my husband said his poached egg had a slight vinegar tang.)

This motel is well located near the main road opposite a sports park and about 10 minutes walk into the main shopping area. Basic double room was needing some refurbishment but was nonetheless clean and quiet. We didn’t eat at the motel but it seemed pretty popular.
