Amazing place steeped in history. Very original interior very carefully kept. The house used to be the Mayors house and it shows, very opulent. The room was very large as was the bathroom, the kitchen was available for all residents to use and was well appointed, the town centre was only a 5 minute walk. Superb stay.

Excellent accommodation would highly rate this Colhurst- white room. Beautiful charming character after a long day at work coming back to this lovely room was so relaxing. The member of staff that checked me in was very well presented well manned and so accommodating it added to the charm of the property, and the detail that he provided made me want t know more about the property. The first thing I did was research the history of the property. Beautiful touches to the room like the tea supplied to the soap provided. Amazing place to wind down after a long day. I will return

Colhurst House is a grand old house with real creaking floorboards, not that it’s a downside. he green room has a large bedroom and a massive bathroom, the biggest your ever likely to see. Bed is nice and comfortable
Whilst it’s a Bed & Breakfast, breakfast is extra, but well worth the investment. Muesli, Juice and yogurt followed by full cooked, with choice of goodies to your liking. The house is a very short walk the town centre and well located for all the attractions.

Stayed 1 night but wish we’d stayed longer. The staff contacted us with checkin details and were met at the property with instructions and help provided by Michael. We stayed in the white room which was very spacious with French doors onto a veranda and a lovely bathroom. Comfortable bed and a 2 seater lounge. Restaurants and shops were a 2 minute walk away. Pity the breakfast wasn’t included as it would make it perfect.

Two nights at this beautifully renovated nineteenth century house were not enough. We would have stayed another night but it was booked out. Patty the host was very friendly and helpful and cooked a great breakfast. The house is a slice of Mt Gambier history and so close to everything with views across town while quiet. Highly recommended.

Wow, this place really took our breath away. Absolutely stunning to say the least. Rooms are huge, comfortable and so beautifully decorated. The property itself is just a masterpiece from its guest sitting room and all the charms of a old stately mansion. It’s also right in the heart of town close to everything you need. Without fail would certainly recommend this place to anyone looking for a stay in Mount Gambier.

Recently stayed here. When we first enter the house we both went "Wow". This is a beautiful old Victorian house which maintains many of its original features. The two bedrooms we saw were large and comfortable, one on the ground floor with a very big modern bathroom attached and the other on the first floor with a good sized traditional bathroom. They have other bedrooms. The cooked breakfast was excellent. We understood that this property is in fact owned by an hotel group but run as a B&B.

Colhurst House was nice, not the best B&B I've stayed in, breakfast was amazing but otherwise the stay was only a tad above average. The house and gardens are beautiful but one thing with old houses is they do start to fall apart after a while and they do seem to be harder to keep clean which was the case with Colhurst. The rooms were spacious but even though we were the only ones staying there, I did feel a bit like we were a burden.

Mnt Gambier was our first overnight stop on our road trip from Adelaide to Melbourne. It was a traditional B&b in a beautiful colonial house. We were a little disappointed not to meet the owner until the following morning so we were expected to let ourselves in and find our way round. Breakfast was served at well set tables. We had a 13 month old son with us and there was a high chair for him.
We left promptly for more driving but realized there were few other hotels/ B&b of this type in the area. Most were motel type accommodation. The town is a little dishevelled but there appeared to be plenty to do in the area for a longer stay.
Patti the owner vert kindly sent on a very precious couple of bears that my daughter left in her bed so thankfully we were reunited with them before our return to England.
