Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Exceeded my expectations. Someone has put allot of effort into rennovating this beautiful old building and the rooms are very generously sized. There is a bottle store, bar and restaurant on site and they have pool tables also. I would absolutely make a point of staying here if i am passing through mt gambier again. Staff were great also

My wife and I stayed the night at this Hotel on our South Australia road trip. Located close to everything. The staff are very friendly but the stand out was their food. I had a 500gm rump steak with all the lashings and I was in heaven! Our room was clean and pleasant (nothing too special) and served it’s purpose - a bed for the night. It was quiet and cosy. This isn’t a very flashy place but We had no complaints and again, the staff were engaging and very friendly.

This hotel is fine for accommodation but the dining here is not such a good experience, we thought of trying it but big mistake. Couldn’t finish our food as Risotto smelling awful. Fish was not cooked properly, kids finish their steak though. It wasn’t busy at all and not much choice for drinks either. Evening wasted..

I didn’t realise this was a “pub with 3 rooms” when I booked (silly me, neglected to read the reviews). Didn’t matter; we were made to feel very welcome. Our room, Carey, was a little basic but it had some good features. However, the a/c started to drip water onto the sofa within an hour so we were moved to room Pierce. This was twice the size of Carey and with better quality and amenities. The bathroom door (in both rooms) has louvers so it’s not very private; odd, but not a problem for us. The bed was very comfortable; the TV rotates from the ample sitting area to the bedroom area. There is a Nespresso coffee machine and a milk frother in each room. The wifi was good and we were quite comfortable here. We asked for a late checkout as we were waiting for Covid test results and this was granted generously. Unfortunately for our travel plan the delayed result turned into an extra night at the Park. The staff here are stars, especially Gemma and Del; very helpful and jovial.

We booked the Carey room. For $120 our expectations weren't too high. But the room was nice and clean and the bed was super comfortable. If I had to pick a negative it would be that the ensuite is open to the main room. So there's no imagination required when someone else uses the loo. Apart from that it was all good and we wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

Having family in Mount Gambier we go there for different events. Having family in Mount Gambier means we like to stay independently, ha! We have stayed in a few different places, we chose this hotel, this time due to the central location so we could walk to a planned dinner. Wow! That’s the word we both said when we walked into the room. We chose the smaller room and even it was big, lovely floorboards, sparkling new bathroom. Only critique was no door on the bathroom/toilet, takes sharing to a level we could maybe do without. We had a quick sticky beak at the not yet checked in big room, stuck our head in the open door, and it was double wow! We didn’t walk in so not sure about the toilet, door situation. It is separate from the pub through a locked glass door and really quiet. We asked for an early check in so we could prepare for the function we came for and they were very accommodating. In fact the staff had a smile for us every time we walked through. We didn’t eat onsite due to the family things going on, but the food looked good and you get a discount staying there. This will definitely be where we stay next time. Lots of parking in the hotel car park. Has a shared kitchen and the makings for breakfast, we didn’t have breakfast due to the afore mentioned family events, but the kitchen was well stocked and beautifully clean.

Stayed in the Matthews suite for one night. Absolutely delightful little gem of a place. Immaculately clean. My only gripe is the other grotty guests who didn't clean up after themselves in the communal kitchen

We were a bit put off when we first arrived, as the car park entrance to the hotel is very unappealing, and the key pickup was from the gaming room bar (dark, noisy, full of poker machines). However, the accommodation is upstairs, in the lovely, old stone building, and separated by a locked door from the dining and gaming sections of the hotel. Our room, the Pierce Suite, was spacious, light and really quiet as it had double glazed windows. We liked the availability of the guest kitchen, with ample breakfast supplies, where we were able to prepare breakfast in the morning. The Park Hotel was a great place to break our trip between Ballarat and Adelaide.

Absolutely fantastic, glad we picked the Park Hotel to stay a couple of nights, we had the smaller room of the three however it was more than adequate with plenty of space. Its a bit of walk to make it into town among the shops and other food offering however fairly straight forward. Would definitely stay here again.
