Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

We stayed there for 6 nights with our two young children in a two bedroom retreat. The accommodation was modern, spacious and very clean. Even though it was school holidays the park was peaceful. Due to COVID the games room and pool were not open so we would like to return when restrictions are lifted and it is warmer so we can check out the pool. Had some trouble with our keys at first but the maintenance guy quickly sorted this out. Staff at reception were friendly and being able to get clean sheets everyday in winter at a caravan park was great.

The lady at the front desk was really nice and let us have a look and choose a site. The first one we chose was on quite a large slope so lucky we could move to a different one. We ended up in an ensuite site. These all have concrete pads and so are flat. The ensuite was great for the kids so I didn't have to take them to the toilet in the middle of the night. However the hotwater in the shower seemed to run out quite quickly and the outside door was difficult to close especially for kids.

The actual shower/toilet block was quite old and could do with updating. Kids loved the bouncy pillow and one of the games in the games room was free which was good . There were plenty of bbq's around and the kitchen area was really nice as well. The pool is ok but would be better if it was heated. The kids jumped in and back out very quickly because it was so cold. The park is kept very clean. Some of the cabins look great at least from the outside.

The location of this park is awesome with so many walks and things to see within walking distance.

Booked two nights in pet friendly powered site - these sites are located at the rear of the property and are extremely uneven. Very awkward to get into with a larger van (23foot). Very lucky other sites vacant otherwise would not have got in at all. Facilities are average whilst the location is good. The gounds are well kept but the tennis courts are old and in need of resurfacing. Would look elsewhere if staying with a pet. WIFI average dropping out regularly probably due to being at the very end of the park.

We have been travelling with our dog for a couple of weeks.
Our first stop in Horsham we stayed in the Horsham Riverside Caravan Park where we were disappointed as the cabins amenities were poor and not functioning properly.
The next caravan park we stayed at was The Marengo caravan park near Apollo Bay which rated 5 star with our pet, very clean all amenities working and very friendly.
We then stayed at the Gumtree caravan park in Port Fairy once again 5 star with our pet.
We have arrived in Mt. Gambier at the Blue Lake caravan park and we are once again back to below standard accommodation. Why advertise these lovely looking cabins on websites???
You go to book and they advise you cannot have that cabin you have to have the ones that allow dogs.
We were booked for 2 nights but are only going to stay 1, bottom of cupboards are all chipped, bathroom door drags on floor, hand basin tap drips.
Would not recommend you stay with your dog in the dog cabin, if travelling with your own caravan amenities are fine.
Sad end to our holiday :(

Firstly I would like to speak of the positives
1. Great location and close to most of the fantastic walks around Mount Gambier.
2. The Wi-Fi was surprisingly good, as we have stayed in many caravan parks and the Wi-Fi can be terrible.
3. We had an ensuite bathroom. It worked well and was functional. The water was hot and the pressure excellent.
Negatives
1. Sites are awful, tight and difficult to manoeuvre. Big slopes and not level. Everyone we spoke to said the same thing.
2. We had an ensuite bathroom. We stayed for 10 nights and it did not get serviced once. NOT ONCE!! We ran out of the small soap they give you after the second day and toilet paper after a week. We ended up buying soap and toilet paper to use and we paid extra to have an ensuite. the shower curtain stuck to your body the whole time you showered and was extremely annoying.
3. There is a lot of work going on and we continually tracked mud to our caravan and inside.
4. It was a disappointing stay as we had read GREAT reviews. Others who stayed around us with ensuites bathrooms said the same. Disappointing, considering reviews.

Location was great, beautiful views! We paid for a 1 bedroom Lakeside Villa, when we arrived, there was 2 doors locked inside, obviously primarily a 3 bedroom, but sold as a 1. We felt a little uneasy about it to be honest. Would’ve definitely liked the doors to be open, but of course we wouldn’t have used them.

Would definitely stay again in a Lakeside Villa only. This type of cabin seemed to be the more luxury style.

Stayed in one of the cottages for 2- very comfortable, cosy, generous size, newly renovated throughout with everything that we needed, and very good value for money. Fully functional kitchen with oven, cooktop, microwave, small dining table and full size fridge, making it very easy to eat in comfortably, and keep our perishables cold on our road trip. Gas log fire set the mood, and provided plenty of warmth when needed. The park is in prime position between Blue Lake and Valley Lake, with a very short walk to any of the lake walks. Great amenities in the park, with brand new pool/water slide, very well maintained extensive grassy areas, plenty of shade, and easy parking right next to the cottage. Hard to see how how our stay could have been improved. There's so much to see in Mount Gambier, we'll be back soon and will stay here again in an instant.

Very nice, quiet and well maintained park in a fantastic location - straight across the road from the beautiful Blue Lake.

Checking in was easy and hassle free, the woman in the office was friendly and gave us all the info we needed. Check out super simple, just leave the key in the box at the boom gate on the way out.

The only gripe I have is with the cabin itself, hence the average rating. It was clean and the double bed was nicely made up - a god send as it was freezing the night we stayed. It was a 3-berth cabin but barely big enough for myself and my partner. As it was, we had to sleep in separate beds because the double bed felt like it was about to fall through the floor of the cabin every time one of us moved. Also, every time one of us got up or walked the whole cabin shook like there was an earthquake, and we are not large people. Didn't make for an overly comfortable stay. Next time we will definitely book something bigger!

We recently stayed on an ensuite site for a week. The site itself was hard to navigate due to the slope and location of the concrete pads. It took us an hour to work out the best position to put the caravan so it was a) level and b) we could put up the annex and peg it down. Other than that we were more than happy. Facilities are good for kids. Used the pool and tennis courts a couple of times and couldn't get them off the jumping pillow. The ensuite is on the older side but perfectly functional.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the ensuite sides that are down the hill. They're flatter.

I appreciated my cabin among trees and lawns with plenty of room between cabins. The staff placed me in a quiet corner which was much appreciated. My budget cabin had everything I needed: frig, digital television, cooking facilities, en suite shower and toilet and a comfy double bed. My budget cabin had no comfy chair so I had to watch telly from one of the 3 plastic chairs. My pet hate is to have no glass curtains, as in the case in this park so that everyone can see straight into everyone else's cabin. I reckon that scrim curtaining would provide a lot more privacy and allow guests to see the trees without being on show. Possums were a bit noisy at night but not a big draw back as the trees are delightful.
