Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Worn carpets. No HD TV. No soap container in the shower cubicle. The one window that could be opened had a thick layer of black dirt in the guttering - looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years. The clothing storage cupboards were very dusty and I needed to clean them before placing my clothes. The staff were polite.

Room was stuffy and smelled. Bathroom was disgusting and dirty. Windows didn’t open at all. Carpark was insufficient and hard to park in. Toilet ran continuously. Reception did nothing to fix it. This is more like a cheap motel for young people to stay cheaply in large groups. Think Schoolies.

I’m not sure when the Haven Marina changed its name from Haven Motor Inn but it hasn’t updated anything by the looks since it was built in 1970s-1980s. The motor inn has nothing to do with the marina which is across the road. The buildings themselves are in a state of disrepair and the rooms are no better. Cleaning does not appear to be a priority for this establishment as I am fairly sure the carpet has not been cleaned since it was laid, and that appears to be a long time ago, the mirrored wardrobe doors were covered in fingerprints and the bathroom mirror was a smeared mess . The gaps around our door allowed leaves to be blown in under the door, let alone the howling wind and we had to stuff the door with anything we could find to stop it from banging overnight. If you’re looking for any “extras”, don’t bother. There was no hand towel and the bath towels, bath mat and face washers looked as if they were the original towels. The only toiletries supplied were two tiny combined shampoo/conditioner bottles and two small soaps, no body lotion, shower cap or hairdryer. The rooms are not serviced until you’ve stayed for 5 nights, I cannot imagine anyone staying for that period of time. The bathroom tiles looked original and the shower curtain did not stop the water pouring onto the floor from the very old shower head. The water was only just warm enough, no need to use the cold tap. We had one teaspoon, 2 stained mugs and two water tumblers. When I asked at reception for a wine glass, although there is what appeared to be a once operating restaurant, there were none. There was no Wi-Fi in the room, although advertised. The TV remote control wasn’t working properly so I took it across to reception to ask for replacement batteries, you would have thought I was asking for a new kidney, I think I was there for a good 10 minutes waiting for these two batteries to be found and installed. Having said that when I did ask for more toilet paper the next day the staff member was very helpful. The bed to my surprise was very comfortable, the sheets were clean (I checked). At the end of the day you get what you pay for, and although it was very difficult to find accommodation in the area during the Adelaide Show, it was obvious that the prices had been increased for that period. There was supposed to be a compete redevelopment of the site in 2015, (has not occurred), so maybe they see no need to spend any money on maintenance/upgrades in case this does occur. In the meantime, do yourself a favour and find somewhere else. I will never be back. The one star was for the location, overlooking the Patawalonga Marina.

Awaiting redevelopment so they’re not putting any/much effort onto the facilities. I’ve stayed here a couple of times because it’s a convenient location for my purposes and I only need basics. Bed, TV, hot shower. Unfortunately this stay the shower didn’t get above warm If you want nice it’s not really for you.

The staff at check in were friendly enough but not hugely interested or engaged. Parking was adequate but not allocated to rooms. We were in an upstairs room with a balcony. Room was adequately furnished but no nice touches. Worst thing was a pervasive smell in our room …not just stuffy and could not be combated by ventilating the room. Location was great.

An inexpensive water view hotel that is close to everything you would need. The staff here are wonderful and very accommodating. The hotel had a nice little pool and seating area that was perfect to cool down and relax to escape the hot South Australian summer.

Very pleasant overnight break opposite the Glenelg marina. We had everything we needed except breakfast the following morning. There is no restaurant. Also we found the pillows much too soft but apart from that we enjoyed our stay. Office staff were very nice and friendly.

Motel vibes, a bit basic and aged, which didn't really match the high price point. The pool area was private, but unfortunately the water was too cold to swim. Service was friendly and helpful. The location is across a great playground and the airport bus is about a 2 minutes walk.

The only good thing about this hotel was it's location. We had a room with a balcony. Lovely view, but the room and the bathroom were very old, run-down and dirty. The restaurant was closed, but there are plenty of restaurants near by. The service was ok. Wouldn't stay there again.
