Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Genuinely one of the most comfortable mattresses in any motel I've ever stayed in (not overly springy). Room was compact but clean and comfortable with modern furnishings. Hotel provided a complementary drink in the bar on check in. Location is a very short drive from the downtown area. Would happily stay again.

We stopped here for lunch. Our entry QR code was checked as we came in. We ordered lunch from the adequate menu. My hamburger was huge. My wife had a steak burger which she enjoyed. She found the paper on the plate annoying.

The pub is nicely air conditioned. It has adequate space for social distancing.

The staff were lovely.

The Barkly went over and above there duties to look after us. I rang up and Sheridan answered the phone and from then on it was all under control. They even told us how many platters they thought we would need for the amount of people we where expecting, instead of trying to rip us off, like a few other places in town. The new manager was also fantastic, we wish him all the best in our hometown. Keep up the great work. Thanks once again.

Stay was pleasant and rooms clean
All about the people though and Sally a local cleaner helped me tremendously in the morning, she’s a star. Following our 1 night stay we were back on the road. Would sleep again

Went to reception , was told that I could not be helped until the manager was located and they didn’t know where she was. After waiting 10 minutes I asked if she had a mobile but they didn’t know that either so I decided to go somewhere else. The whole place looked shabby so I was pleased to leave

Staying at the Barkly hotel motel. Nice big clean room. Balcony leaves a lot to be desired. Stairwell is a dungeon. Filthy glasses in fridge. Only 2 chairs and 2 mugs. When we asked for another one of each we got a filthy chair and a teacup. Said he didnt see the stain and cup was the last one left. Oh, and the bathroom door doesnt have a door nob. He could only say sorry about that. Nothing he could do. Going down for dinner. God help us!

We stayed 2 nights for the rodeo and whilst everything was clean and hotel place needs a good tidy up and a bit of TLC. There is a pool and the hotel is large. Rooms smallish and bland but you have to remember that you are in the outback. We ate at the small bistro both nights and the meals were good pub food. Chef is doing all he can to keep his end up whilst bar staff at the time we were there were pitiful. There are washers and dryers which was a positive for motel use for a moderate fee.

Room Tip: The motel has three floor and no lift so beware and ask for a ground floor room.

We went here for dinner. They have a chalkboard menu with quite a few different dishes to choose from. We had garlic bread for an entree, followed by a 250g steak ($12.95) with chips, salad and sauce. My partner had the burger with chips ($16). The food was delicious and affordable. Ask for the chef's secret garlic aioli sauce, it's the best I've tasted in Australia, perfect for dipping chips into.

If you want an affordable meal, that's tasty and worth the wait I would recommend getting your steak from here! 2015's steak winners for Mount Isa as well. The cooks do an awesome job, making sure the steak is cooked to your desire.
Staff from the bar are nice and friendly as well.
While waiting for your food you are able to walk a few meters to the pokies, tab and keno.
There is also a smokers deck as well which had awesome locals who are friendly, something you may need after a long drive coming from Cloncurry or Camooweal.
I would recommend eating here,
