While travelling north we were a able to call and make a reservation over the phone. Waiting at reception was our instructions to our van site. The site was very clean and quiet. Our late arrival meant that we had the BBQ and amenities to ourselves with other guests long since eaten. The BBQ was clean and the included soap at the washing facilities was much appreciated. After an early morning wake up due to the need to get on the road the shower was perfect pressure, clean and well maintained.

We stayed here in our 24' Gooseneck.
Nice place, grounds well cared for.
Would have liked a spot down near the water, maybe ask at time of booking, very nice down there for Sunsets. (We weren't familiar with the Park so didn't know at time of booking)
The facilities are old but clean.

It was $54/night, thought it a bit much, but it was school holidays, which we don't follow as our kids are grown. 🤷‍♀️
Stayed just 1 night at that price.
They allow dogs.
We received a treat for us and our pups on arrival, that was a nice touch.

Fantastic park.

We had an ensuite powered site down by the lake which us a quiet area of the caravan park.

Amenities were very clean and tidy.

Just stayed one night on our way north so didn't get to use all the facilities.

Good reception team and very friendly.

A wee way from the cbd and on the harbour road so the further from the road the best.

Had neighbours who were on their first and by the sounds of it their last camping trip. Nice family but don't think camping was their thing.

We stayed for 3 nights and enjoyed our stay. Kids loved feeding the ducks, riding there scotters, hiring the go carts, playing mini golf and hangina out in the pool area. The seats set up along the rivers edge was a nice idea and the kids loved using it and just hangina out. The park backs onto the river and having little kids we felt safe to let our kids roam around with adult supervision. Two downers was the lawnmower man was stiring up the dust next to our van but he buggered off pretty quick and we forgot our fishing rods. Im sure if we would of asked one of the staff at the park they would of possibly found a rod to use as the seemed very polite and helpful.

It seems all good online but unfortunately the management/ownership seems to be letting this place down. The jumping pillow was broken. When we mentioned it they said we were a late check-in so they couldn't let us know that in advance. Which is b.s. because they called us that day to confirm the reservation. Also they put us in a cabin with broken satellite TV then said a repair person would be coming in the morning. No way! There would have been no warning, just a repair person coming in in the morning while we were on holidays! They moved us to the empty cabin next door which had a working TV all along. Weird. And a huge hassle. Partner was exhausted moving everything. Then it turns out there's no Foxtel in the bedroom like it says online. Deceptive. Just wanted to chill with some fun movies together we don't get at home but it didn't happen. We should have asked for a partial refund and it would have been awarded by QCAT but sometimes best to just warn others and move along. Find somewhere else to stay.

We have learnt our lesson. It’s not a good idea to book a Discovery site online. We booked a powered site for 2 nights online, in this park 6 months ago we found ourselves on the worst site in the park. Expecting either a lagoon side site or a site on a palm lined row, as we had seen online, we found ourselves on a bare site at the end of a row, next to a small swamp looking at a cyclone fenced dump area with disused white goods and other rubbish dumped on the site. Abutting our kitchen and bedroom window was a clothes line with some forgotten grey raggy washing hanging by a few pegs. Unlike other rows there were no beautiful palm trees anywhere near us to shield the ugly view of the dump area.
On asking why we were put in such an ugly environment when we had booked so long ago, we told it was because we booked online and the computer automatically assigned us site 94, 6 months ago. As Discovery members, I found this very disappointing. I think Discovery need to review how they treat members and early on line bookers.
The toilets out our end were very old and scruffy and the cleaning was substandard. The park itself looked like a nice park, particularly at the other end.

Thankyou Discovery parks McKay for restoring my faith in caravan accommodation. Michelle & Sue are the old fashioned sort of managers that at least appear to very much want you to have a great experience. Their recommendations to go to the Pioneer Valley show made for an unexpected memorable day . While there is some traffic noise we were close to the incredible wet land that the park surrounds full of bird life . We found it very quiet & spacious. The very well maintained facilities were much appreciated especially the fantastic ensuite. We initially booked for 2 nights as we’d rather park on the road than a bad caravan park however we stayed for 6 . The park is ideally located which meant we’ve had a great experience in McKay m, Finch Hatten and Eungulla .

This park is run down, broken down and the rooms aren’t cleaned properly.

Arrived on time, told room wasn’t ready. I told the cleaner to take their time (I’d rather it done properly) but when we arrived, the dishes were dirty, there was rubbish in the couches and food stuck to the floor of the kitchen. Not sure what the cleaner actually does?

Jumping pillow broken down. Which wasn’t the end of the world but perhaps advertise this. Same with ‘nature walks’ there are none. Also perhaps a better playground? This really isn’t a big4 at all!!

Finally, the receptionist was rude, made us feel so unwelcome and in trouble for checking in on time and checking out early, and we are super friendly people do it was t the vibe we put out.

For the price we paid, should of just booked a motel.

Our advice- don’t - just go down the road to Airlie Beach or stay somewhere nicer.

Friendly & helpful staff from the moment we contacted them & when we arrived. The grounds of the park are kept beautiful. The van sites are grassed or big slabs, very good & some with ensuites. You can use the main amenities blocks or pay $20 deposit for a key to use the comunial ensuites which are great. It's a big park with lovely lawn area views & wetlands. The Pools area is great,& their is Mini Golf,a Maze & more for the family to enjoy. It's not far from Town & shops as well as the Marina or exploring Mackay from.Enjoyed our stay here.

We just needed a powered site for a quick one nite stay and as it was school holidays this was all that was available in general everything is clean and tidy in the park just a bit old but did have some putt putt and a small water park for children if you where in a cabin at the front i would imagine it to be quite noisy with the constant noise of trucks heading to the port of Mackay My big problem with the park and management was that there was kids and adults flying drones around the park they were a couple of sites down from us when my wife checked in around 3 someone was making a complaint about the drone then they were told that management would investigate unfortunately management didn't investigate very thoroughly as 2 drones continued to fly around the rest of the afternoon .By 5 pm I had enough and rang the office but they were closed I left a message and also emailed Big 4 recieved an email and phone call within 24 hours from Big 4 agreeing that drones should not be anywhere near a caravan park especially a Big 4 park .Thirty six hours later still haven't got a response from park .They made no effort to find the drone operators many people were very angry about it .Management should be given a kick up the arse and the park booted out of Big 4 as they are tarnishing the companies brand .
