Detailed Reviews
This motel is excellent, second to none. Anyone who gives this motel a bad review probably works at another motel and wants to make Coral Cay look bad. I have never stayed at a nicer motel than Coral Cay. The room I stayed in was very spacious, lovely and quiet and absolutely faultless.

I was so extremely impressed with how lovely, modern, clean and well laid out the rooms at Coral Kay Resort were. The staff were absolutely lovely and there is a very thoughtful collection of items and toiletries that can be purchased from reception which I really appreciated. It is pet friendly accomodation and there are lots of little spots to toilet your pet, all completely clean and with bibs provided. This is a fantastic place to stay on your travels with family (2 and 4 legged).

Chose this motel due to its reviews and boy was that a mistake, upon arrival receptionist was to busy to explain anything about the motel and what was on offer and failed to supply the voucher for booking from their website.
When we entered the room there was a musty smell and on further inspection found the room to be full of dust on most surfaces, this was surprising as they were spruiking their in-depth Covid plan.
That evening while making coffee it was noticed that the cups were stained and appeared to have been poorly washed as to were the wine glasses. When retrieving the milk from the fridge it was also discovered there was mold growing on the shelves and on other surfaces.
We went for breakfast in the morning to find the restaurant closed, upon further enquiry we were told that we had to order the night before and it would be sent to the room. Just another item the resort staff failed to tell us about.
After spending most of the day out the following day we returned to a room that was not made up, when we enquired whether the room was going to be serviced we were informed that we needed to request that service. When you are paying for a 4 star room one would expect this as a normal service.
The manager arrived at our room to explain that all these issues were because of the virus, I fail to see how any of the poor cleaning, poor communication or failure to deliver on their promotion.
So much for their Covid plan.

Response from pacificterrific, Guest Relations Manager at Coral Cay Resort
Responded 28 June 2020
Hi Peter, Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience and please accept our sincere apologies that your stay was less than terrific. We actively listen to guest reviews and your feedback has been shared with the whole team for immediate improvements. Our Covid plan has been in place since March and is regularly reviewed by the management team. Feedback over the past few months has overwhelmingly been positive however we recognise that your room did not meet the high standards our team strives for. Our aim has been to be as transparent as possible with our guests on what services are open, especially as Queensland eases restrictions. Our swimming pool is now open and our restaurant is open for dinner Sunday - Thursday and pre-ordered room service breakfast Monday - Friday. This is communicated via our website and the team supply the breakfast and dinner menus during check-in. We will review this process. The management team at Coral Cay Mackay have been working hard over the past few months to ensure our high standards are maintained and we are now growing the number of staff working each day to ensure each and every guest experiences the customer service, high standards of cleanliness and terrific location we are known for. Thank you again for your review Peter and please reach out to the team directly when you are next booking so we can make up for the shortfalls you experienced. Jess - Guest Experience Manager

Had a lovely 12 night stay, our room was a lovely poolside room with a balcony & very comfortable & spacious. Housekeeping serviced the room daily & all staff were always friendly & helpfull. Onsite restaurant had good quality food but does need more vegetarian choices. Location was perfect & convenient to everywhere. We enjoyed our stay & would definitely choose Coral Cay again. 😀

The 2 bedroom room was adequate for a family stay. Room was a little older and tired, however it was clean. Shower was hot and pressure good. The laundry onsite was helpful although could get busy at times. Meals were absolutely superb from the restaurant. Pool facilities were used by kids and there were a couple of tables you could sit at in the pool area to watch them. Plenty of onsite parking.

Disappointing experience. Would recommend looking elsewhere.
I booked this hotel for an overnight stay on a road trip to Brisbane. Due to bushfires, the Bruce Highway was closed and my arrival delayed. The office phone number went to a message bank, despite the pre-recorded message saying the opening hours were till 9pm and I was calling before this time. My wife ended up finding an after hours number to get the late checking details. Suggest the message be updated.
Room was poor quality. After the long drive, I wanted to chill with some tv before bed. However, the TV in the room didn’t work, I suspect it may have just been flat batteries in the remote. This is something that ought to be checked and reception was closed due to my late arrival.
Whilst the room was largely clean, the bathroom was not the same. There was mould in the shower, and the toilet seemed to keep running.
The only positive I have from this stay was the comfortable bed.

Queen spa room 226 the spa was coming away from the wall , was old and dirty. Over priced not worth the money , the rate per night was way to much for the awful spa. Ants were all over the rooms counters . The toilet ran all night . The staff for breakfast buffet were rude and condescending, stayed 3 nights . Will not be returning

Rockhampton, Australia97 contributions35 helpful votesWhat time do you serve meals in your restaurant and room service in rooms?
I may not be arriving until 9pm ish and exploring options.
Thanks looking forward to stay.
Also is breakfast included In room price or extra?
I don’t think they do room service if I recall.
We are located approximately 1.5km from Oaks Rivermarque
Good Morning,
There is no additional charge for butter portions when purchasing toast for room service or dining in the onsite restaurant.
Guest staying in-house do receive, tea, coffee, sugar, biscuits and fresh milk in their room on arrival.

Hi Ben,
I do apologise we do not allow pets on our premises. There is a couple of other properties that do allow pets in the region or alternatively there is two kennels in the region one at Mirani and one at Coningsby if you would still like to stay with us. I hope this is helpful. Kind Regards Coral Cay Resort
