Our large family of twenty nine, came together to celebrate our 50th Wedding Anniversary, the week prior to Christmas. It was a week of great joy and family time of being together. Wings, is certainly large enough for our many grandchildren who had great delight in the activities available. The large pool is quite incredible, with many pool toys to enjoy. The tennis court was used just about every day, as was the large billiard table, with great fun competition among everyone. The views are spectacular across to the Coast and we spent many hours, during the day and then at night, relaxing, looking over at the sparkling lights. Wings was immaculate and is tastefully furnished. Blair and Sandy were very helpful and friendly. Wings is close enough to take a jaunt down to the beach or to the large local shopping mall. If you are like me, don't even leave the place!

Spent 3 relaxing days at Wings Hinterland Retreat. Even being big beach people we loved it - and not far at all to hit the sand and ocean. The house is really lovely - big open spaces and plenty of room for the 24 of us (which included 12 kids)! Kids loved the pool and tennis court. Great kitchen and living facilities and just a really functional layout for families - even with some beautiful and much needed rain. But it is without a doubt that the biggest bonus was the views. Spectacular and just a real treat to wake up to. We felt right at home at Wings and would highly recommend staying there.

Thanks so much Blair and Sandy.

My soon to be wife and I booked wings for our wedding we were have a small wedding with just direct family coming from New Zealand, WA and other parts of Australia.

Sadly the management of the retreat let the stunning house and location down.

We asked if we could get into the house a couple of hours early as we had cakes and food to be chilled we were told that would not be a problem but it would cost us an additional nights stay! No thank you.

When we arrived the views were amazing!

The caretaker then took us on an hour long trip
of the house telling us what we couldn’t do. Don’t be noisy after 10. Don’t break anything. Don’t leave the house with any mess don’t, don’t don’t etc.

All the standard don’ts you would expect but delivered in a way that made us feel they already didn’t trust us before we walked in the door.
After draining the excitement and making us feel like she was doing us a favour and we were not paying thousands of dollars to be there she left us alone.

The first night was great the family arrived and we had a catch up. The second night. The night of the wedding the power on the lower level of the house went out. The power in the 3 rooms sauna, spa and pool all stopped working.
We contacted the caretaker the next morning as we still had 1 more night to stay they said they couldn’t get the electrician there until the evening because he was in the Sunshine Coast. (I would have thought they could have called a different electrician?) he showed up that night and said the parts he needed to fix it were back at his shop and wouldn’t be able to fix it until the morning (check out morning) so we had a day and 2 nights with no spa pool heating sauna and 5 of our guest hand no lighting or AC.

We understand the power going out was not there fault but to loose half the features of the house for over half the stay was very disappointing.

No compensation was offered to us and to add insult after not receiving our bond back for over 6 weeks we had to chase and hound them for our money which we did finally receive after have to get quite direct

Over all amazing house. But poor management. It seemed to us they had lost the enjoyment of the job and forgot we were paying customers arriving for a very special day.

Our extended family of 17 adults, 3 children, 2 babies and 2 spoilt dogs celebrated two special birthdays at this amazing property. We were all very impressed with this gorgeous home. Not only were there plenty of things to do on site, there was also enough space to find a quiet spot to relax away from the masses. Picture relaxing in the pool or spa with the entire Gold Coast vista stretched out in front of you. The views are nothing short of breathtaking! Owner, Sandy could not do enough to make our stay as comfortable as possible and was helpful from time of booking till checkout. We all had a fabulous time and would thoroughly recommend this property for a group get away- hope to return next year.

**PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE REVIEW**
This property is absolutely gorgeous. The facilities are second to none. The views are breathtaking and every single guest (all of whom had travelled interstate and internationally to attend) commented on how truly lovely the property was.

However, having booked the property in January, a full nine months before our joint 40th Birthday celebration, it was beyond disappointing to receive an email from the owner (three days before our arrival!) informing us that there is a ZERO tolerance noise policy effective from 10pm. The result of a noise breach meant eviction from this 26 person property.

We had been in constant communication with the owner for the full nine months before our three night stay and at no stage were we made aware of this. The owner knew we were hosting a birthday party on our second night and we had been very clear and transparent about our plans.

We had asked permission to hire contracted caterers, a fun sporting activity company and always queried anything we were considering doing.

With express permission and well in advance, we hired a great local caterer, bubble soccer business and outdoor vintage games company AND we informed the owner that there would be between 40 and 50 guests in attendance.

To receive the email three days before our arrival advising us that if any noise was observed after 10pm we would face eviction from the property caused us great distress and panic. Try to imagine having to explain to your family and friends who had spent so much money to travel and enjoy your celebration, that they had to remain indoors and wind the party up at 10pm? We hoped the outlook would be better once we met with the caretaker upon arrival.

The day we arrived the caretaker informed us that just the weekend prior they had engaged the police to forcibly remove and evict the entire house full of guests on their second night of four (remember it sleeps up to 26 people!).

My partner and I were terrified. Of course we tried hard to placate the caretaker and assure her that as reasonable, responsible people and as an event planner myself, we would not be any trouble. We even allocated her three mobile contact numbers she could text at any time she felt we had breached the rules.

We received a total of 11 text messages complaining about noise! One message at 10:18pm (after we had all moved inside as instructed) told us that the caretaker had just heard us sing happy birthday and we needed to keep it down. This constant messaging went on all evening. Additionally the next morning we were told by the caretaker that we would be charged $50 for every cigarette butt found on the property.

We found our stay incredibly stressful and the strict rules severely impacted our capacity to enjoy the birthday celebration we had so carefully and respectfully been planning for nine months.

If you are looking for beautiful accomodation at a large property with lovely views, and incredible facilities - but you plan to stay indoors after 10pm and watch movies or go to bed - then this is the place for you.

If you are a large group and you want a stress free, relaxing break where you can sit outside, enjoy the wonderful views while having a glass of wine and a laugh after dark - you should most definitely reconsider. It is really not worth the expense and more importantly it is very stressful and humiliating to be forever shooshing your guests.

Thankyou for you review Ryan and thankyou you and the other three guests for all acknowledging how truly amazing the property is. It's a shame you don't know the full story, and the didn't read the booking form signed and agreed to before your stay. We simply don't tolerate wild parties and loud noise outside after 10pm. Its VERY clear. The behaviour of your group was ridiculous and our actions very much called for. If you had taken the time to visit our website and had read the booking conditions, you may not have written a review. All the best The Manager

Great host, great house. Highly Recommend
Incredible views and a fantastic property. The tennis courts were an added bonus which we enjoyed very much. The inflatable flamingo for the pool does need some repair though. All in all, a fantastic place to be.

Hi BigFudge Thankyou for the 5 star review, and we are glad you enjoyed the property. The flamingo has been replaced , ( it’s on its 8th life) and correct, the pool is not heated, we would be getting a lot of negative feedback of it was heated. There is only a 6 week period over winter that the temperature of the water drops a touch and it juts happened to be during your stay. We hope you enjoyed the western red cedar sauna that can be cranked until you cook and the outside jacuzzi that is set to 40 degrees Celsius . Thanks once again, love to have you back Blair

We booked the retreat for a post wedding family/close friends retreat. Not only was the place absolutely spotless, but the interior was so homely and comfortable.

The pool was fantastic, the view was insane and the host even blew up pool toys for us to use!

The sauna was great and and full sized pool table was a hit.

The rooms were fresh, clean and all air conditioned.

Everyone was so impressed and we were honestly so sad when our stay came to an end.

Thank you so much for the experience and your flexibility with us!

Wings Hinterland Retreat is easily one of the best places I've stayed in Australia. It's situated in the beautiful hinterland with priceless 180 degree views to the ocean.
The house has everything you need plus more, spa, sauna, pool, full size smoker table - the list goes on.
The house boasts multiple bedrooms and several living areas. Whilst there, I was able to quietly read a book on the lounge with my feet up whilst the kids enjoyed the downstairs dorm room.
Plenty of room for families to be together and to relax alone too.
I was also lucky enough to meet some of the neighbors too and they were lovely.
Highly recommended place for families, friends or even corporate events.
6 Stars!!!

What an amazing house, we booked this 12 months in advance, for our whole family to come together, 12 adults & 9 grandchildren. Everyone was so comfortable with having so much space to run around
The pool, omg, we had the best time!
We didn’t need to go out at all, we just stayed & spent loads of quality family time together
I would recommend this beautiful house to any one & have told a lot of people about it
Lyndal & Sandy we’re an absolute pleasure to deal with & made our holiday so easy
We cannot wait to come back again
