My husband & I stayed for 7 nights & had a really beautiful time. I booked directly through the lovely girls in reception who gave us our requests of a quiet room on a high floor with great views. They were very friendly.We were on the 16th floor & looked North East to Rainbow Bay & the Tweed River with the morning sunrises.There were water views from every window.The hotel was easy to find with secure parking underneath.We took our bikes & were able to lock them up safely in the carpark.The hotel is very secure & safe.
The accomodation was privately owned.It consisted of 2 bedrooms 2 bathrooms (ensuite) laundry spacious & comfortable lounge area dining area fully equipped kitchen & balcony with table & chairs.It had modern furniture & was tastefully decorated.Everything was very clean & comfortable. We were on the end & never heard a sound from anyone.I loved waking up to the sunrise over the ocean from my bedroom window every morning.
The lifts seemed quiet & worked quickly.They went from the underground carpark reception or shopping centre underneath to your floor.The pool was relaxing & nicely heated.The tennis court is full size & in good condition.The shopping centre with Woollies underneath is very convenient & there are restaurants cafes & surf clubs all round.
It really is the location opposite Coolangatta Beach with the view that is the winner.Everything is at your finger tips & all you need to do is check in & enjoy.

We chose the Resort and Coolangatta having stayed in Surfers the last few times on GC and wanted a change of location. We were attracted by the size of the apartments, the proximity to supplies and the beautiful beach. We were pleased to be granted a high level apartment and an earlier check in as we arrived at GC quite early. It was a great start to our short getaway to be greeted by the stunning views of the beach, surf and Surfers Paradise on the horizon. The sunsets were also lovely to experience.
To add some backstory to this review, I had read some very negative feedback from other guests in this forum so had a little bit of trepidation before we arrived but I can honestly say this was negated by the overall experience. It needs to be remembered that the apartments are privately owned and it is not a hotel so a level of self sufficiency is required but that is well communicated and in my view leaved little to be desired. If there is a criticism it is that a lick of paint could be applied and I'm not sure how many apartments that applies to but in all honesty it had no impact on our stay. Again, we considered the value for money in tandem with the location, space, views and access to everything we needed. Sure, a 5 star hotel might have shinier door knobs but you would pay double and then some to stay there. This "travel Guide" gives 5 stars!!
ps - be aware that many of the local eateries are not open on Monday and Tuesday so head to Woolies and grab your own ingredients for a night in or two.

Cannot beat this location, the lift goes to The Strand shopping centre, so minutes from woolies and Aldi and the Arcade for kids. Tonnes of food options within walking distance. Literally in the surf within minutes of leaving your room. Pool was great, Spa definitely worked! Room was very tidy and had everything you could have wanted for a short or long stay. We were on the 9th floor and the views were breathtaking. We caught glimpse of a whale and watched the surfers from our rooms taking on some of Australias most iconic waves. The staff were terrific. Price was great especially compared to other buildings in less convenient locations.
All in all could not fault this stay. Will be back and will recommend to anyone who listens.

Our Pool is heated to 30deg and the Spa to 36deg all year round for guests and owners comfort. I want to leave an honest review regarding our recent stay. It is my belief that your experience at Ocean Plaza will be based upon how lucky you get with which room you are allocated. The photos shown on the website and in other reviews do not reflect the standard of all apartments. We were unlucky and stayed in unit 83.
Lots of the units in Ocean Plaza are individually owned, and therefore the level of upkeep is random and depends upon the owner.
When we checked into our room we were greeted with crumbs on the kitchen bench, sticky and unvacuumed floors, sticky door handles and a dirty toilet. As we have a small child we quickly spent some time wiping down surfaces etc, but the vacuum in the room was about 30 years old and the mop had no mop head. The next day we contacted reception and the cleaner attended to clean the apartment again - lots of excuses about being busy. Just made it evident our room was barely cleaned before us checking in. After the apartment was cleaned there was such a difference! We did appreciate the help of reception and cleaning staff to attend to this ASAP.
As we are travelling with a small child we were particularly concerned about the safety issues in the room. The taps have no hot water temperature regulator which means the hot water coming out of the taps is so hot it nearly burns. The windows have cheap plastic stick on devices fitted to 1 of the 5 windows in the room to stop the windows opening fully. So 4/5 of the windows are non complaint and a major safety issue, anyone could climb out of the windows, especially the ones in the bedroom.
The kitchen was outdated, with the laminate chipping off all of the cupboards, stains not cleaned. Curtains were old and musty smelling.
The facilities in the building were adequate but also indicate a complete lack of attention or update in years e.g table tennis table and equipment pretty tattered, air con not working in that area. Pool area was good and well maintained though.
For this price (almost $500 a night), I would not stay here again, as it’s too risky you get a poor room like we did. The great location does not make up for the complete lack of care the owner of this unit must have for their guests. Take your hard earned money elsewhere!

Hi Steph B, Thank you for your review that you call an honest review of Ocean Plaza Resort, firstly the photos on the website are taken from a range of rooms. Unlike some of our competitors we do not sell particular rooms because we are satisfied all our rooms are to an acceptable standard. All the units in Ocean Plaza are owned by individual owners most of whom visit regularly and keep their apartments in good condition, the taste of the individual owners is not always to the liking of the guests. Our windows do comply with Queensland Government regulations. Your comment regarding the facilities in the building is in my opinion indicative of your entire review. Our 3 lifts were replaced 5 years ago at a cost of $750,000.00, the lobbies were all renovated 4 years ago at a cost of over $500,000.00, the exterior of the building is being painted this year at a cost of $1,000,000.00 and the list goes on. The Air Con unit in the games room works fine unless the temp is set at 18 degrees with the doors open any air con unit will freeze up. Clearly the majority of guests who stay at Ocean Plaza Resort see the property differently to you, most guests appreciate the awesome ocean views from every apartment and the convenience of the Strand shopping Centre within the complex and beautiful Coolangatta Beach directly across the road from Ocean Plaza and 4 Surf Clubs within a short walk. Our rates are competitive in Coolangatta, it seems Cooly is not the place for you, I think you are better to look elsewhere in future and leave Ocean Plaza resort and Coolangatta to the people who love it. I had the most fabulous apartment with a front facing outlook. The unit was spotlessly clean. It was serviced weekly with new linen. Domestic staff were pleasant and amusing. Front office staff were so helpful. Lauren, Sharon and Wendy, you are all marvellous. There is lock up garage, quick access to the shopping centre below, a beautifully warm spa and the pool is heated too. I love the ambience of Ocean Plaza. If you are non physically fit you can enjoy the every change views: morning, day and evening. If you are middle age you will enjoy the facilities nearby: pubs, clubs, restaurants, all serving great and reasonably priced food. If your family is younger, you have quick access to the beautiful beach, swimming pool. Magnificent walking path both ways for those seeking gentler exercise or you can the facilities available at the resort. No complaints, the complex itself is very quiet, though there is a little street noise intermittently but it did not bother me at all.

What a wonderful experience to stay here. The location is just ideal - across the road from a beautiful patrolled beach and amongst the cafes, restaurants and shops of Coolangatta. So convenient and the apartment was so quiet - and it was spotless!
However, the biggest plus was the spectacular view from every room. The weather was not always perfect but this gave me the opportunity to see the ocean in all its moods. I loved every moment.
When the wind made the beach uncomfortable, the resort pool provided a sheltered haven and the pool was heated to an ideal temperature.
The staff at reception were friendly, welcoming, so helpful and so patient. Thank you all for making this an unforgettable experience. I will definitely return but next time I will stay longer than a week!

Just finished up our 16 night annual holiday with Ocean Plaza Resort. Missing it already and on countdown till our next stay. The ladies on reception are always a pleasure to deal with, we always ask for a higher middle unit as it is generally more quiet and relaxing for our break, they haven't disappointed us yet with our requests. I won't pop her name on here (just for privacy i feel) but the young girl with glasses at reception is my favorite always helpful accommodating and remembers my name. Our room was ready early which was just music to our ears. Our unit was superb, the bed was soooooo comfy and the views well they are just magical. We had the best views from our balcony for Christmas carols in the park we watched Santa arrive by parachute and the amazing fire works which were kindly donated by Ocean plaza. The location is mint with two younger kids it makes it so easy to stroll downstairs and pick a restaurant and not hear my legs are tired from walking 🤣. My only bad comment would be the price has increased but hey what hasn't at the moment. Eep up the great work, until next time Ocean Plaza.

We have just returned home from our annual holiday in our favourite spot in Australia. The OCEAN PLAZA
RESORT in Coolangatta!!! We have been holidaying at the Ocean Plaza for about 25 years. Sometimes twice a year.
The staff have always accommodated our request for room preferences and we have never been disappointed
with any of them. We usually spend three weeks there every February and are always sad when it is time to
leave and return home to central NSW.Unfortunately we are both now in our mid seventies but certainly hope
we still have a few more trips up to Cooley . Cannot speak highly enough of this place

We had 2bd apartment, # 85 on the 17th floor. We were very happy with our room, it was large, clean and comfortable. It had everything you could possibly need while on vacation. The view from the balcony was amazing. The location of the resort was ideal , everything is so convenient, beach, supermarkets, places to eat, shopping, entertainment for kids and adults alike are all in walking distance.We parked up our car and didn’t use it again until checking out.
We found all the staff very helpful and friendly.
Definitely helps to book direct, they will prioritise your room requests.
I can’t wait to go back to Ocean Plaza, having good accommodation really topped off our amazing first Coolangatta experience.

Last year I booked a stay at Ocean Plaza paying a deposit which I was told would be refunded if Covid 19 restrictions prevented my travel. My big mistake was taking the receptionist at her word, and not getting it in writing. When my trip was cancelled due to locked borders, they refused to return the deposit. I was given a credit voucher for future use. I now find In order to claim the voucher I must stay at least two nights. With their prices increased and the extreme rudeness of the manager, I would never stay there again. I have booked a superior resort who do not demand deposit.

Hi 339caz, Thank you for your feedback regarding your booking at Ocean Plaza Resort, any deposits paid for bookings that were cancelled as a result of lockdowns or guest inability to travel were honoured. All guests were advised that even though the deposits were nonrefundable we were giving all guests a refund of the deposit by way of a credit that could be used for a future booking. We have always had a minimum 2 night stay at Ocean Plaza Resort and a search of our competitors rates on Marine Parade in Coolangatta will reveal that our rates are competitive. Unfortunately some people seem to struggle to understand or accept what they are told so they find it easier to claim the person giving the information is extremely rude. From my situation as Manager of Ocean Plaza Resort for over 5 years I have found that since Covid 19 people have unrealistic expectations. Kind Regards Building Manager

I cannot give you a price as our Aus family booked it. We had a 2 bed apartment, which although a little tired was clean and tidy. Every thing worked and we found the management and staff to be helpful and pleasant. We had a fabulous time here .

Hi Thank you for your enquiry. Please be advised that the apartments only feature air conditioning in the Lounge/Dining Room area of the apartment. The bedrooms are not air conditioned but have ceiling fans only. Thank you again for your enquiry
