The Sage Hotel Wollongong captivates guests with its clean and well-appointed rooms boasting comfortable furnishings and impressive views, although a few finishes may seem budget-conscious. Its prime location near beaches and dining options receives frequent praise, as does the commendable service from friendly staff.
While the hotel's atmosphere and cleanliness are consistently applauded, some guests feel that the value doesn't match the price, pointing to costly rates and less-than-perfect amenities. Despite this, the hotel's quiet rooms and proximity to local attractions continue to be a draw for many visitors.

Great friendly staff. Bathroom facilities on level 3 and the pool area need some work with broken toilet seats, grubby pool and loose side pool tiles which could create safety hazards.
Food also at the restaurant and room service breakfast was a waste of money eg cold/ frozen hashbrowns and inedible chewy overcooked steak when asked for medium.
Spend some money training your restaurant staff and I no eat on some site maintenance and this place would be a hell of a lot busier considering the great location.

The Sage is in a great location. Cool cafes, wine bars and restaurants all within easy walking distance. The room was extremely quiet, housekeeping was efficient and the in-house cafe lent us knives to take on a picnic. 😍

I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction with the service I received during my recent stay at your hotel, specifically in relation to an employee named Mandy.
During my stay, I encountered several issues that I believe were handled unprofessionally by Mandy, leading to my decision to cut my stay short by one month. Firstly, Mandy refused to provide information on where to dispose of rubbish, which is a basic necessity for any guest. Additionally, she denied our request to use the microwave to heat our cold food, which caused significant inconvenience. Finally, when we inquired about room cleaning services, Mandy brusquely informed us that there were no room cleaning services available.
These actions greatly diminished the quality of my stay and left me feeling frustrated and unwelcome. I urge you to address these concerns promptly to prevent future guests from experiencing

This hotel is charging 5-star pricing and delivering three and a half at best. Room furniture is cheap, laminate finish was peeling off. The one lounge chair was dirty and looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in years. I wouldn’t even put a bag on it. Bathroom fittings also cheap, shower head was one of those early 2000’s water saving things. I fully understand we need to reduce water usage, but many modern hotels have done away with these and installed a rain shower. The sink had a few cracks in it. Bed also uncomfortable (two single beds pushed together). A very underwhelming experience. Recommend you considered another place to stay.

Our room was excellent. We had a lovely view to the ocean and golf course and the pool looked lovely at night. The bed was very comfortable as was the pillows. We found the staff very obliging. The room rate was very reasonably priced and the hotel was in a great location and close to the venue we attended on Friday night.

I decided to book Sage Hotel travelling back from Port Macquarie to Canberra for a one night stay.
The check in process was extremely easy and very clear. There was no question as to where I could park safely and enter the hotel lobby to check in.
Check in was smooths dn the staff were warm and friendly on arrival.
I had a few questions and they were more than happy to answer and provide professional and warm answers.
I then got back in the car and drove into the secure boom gate parking, from there I loaded up a baggage trolley with mine and my son's gear and headed up to our room on the 10th floor.
On arrival the hallway was soaciotand clean with lots of lovely natural light.
Upon opening the door to our room it was a long and specious room with a luxurious deep bath, shampoos and body washes provided in the bathroom and clean soft towels provided.
The bed was large and medium firm. Soft and luxurious.
The tv was easy to operate and the balcony size and views were perfect.
The pool was lovely and the room service was speedy and delicious.
A little pricey but the food and wine was delicious.
Check out was easy and there were no issues departing.
I look forward to my next stay.

I encountered some issues during the check-in process. The manager requested my ID instead of locating my booking with the reference number and then needed ID from each adult guest across the five rooms I had booked. The manager struggled to find the names of my family members in the system, as the booking was under my name alone. This resulted in a long queue forming behind us. Additionally, I was unexpectedly charged a $100 deposit per room, resulting in a total deposit of $500 upon check-in, rather than a single deposit as stated in the terms and conditions on Booking.com. Unfortunately, I couldn't review the fine print at the time, as I was busy managing several children and family members on Christmas Day. Booking.com have re-confirmed it is only deposit per booking not per room. The deposit was finalized and returned upon check-out.
On a positive note - The hotel was comfortable and the location was convenient, close to the beach and shops

Room was very spacious - with a comfortable bed, quiet room with a bathroom that has a full sized bath tub as well as a good sized shower. The hotel is in a brilliant setting - close to the beach and a wide range of restaurants nearby. The buffet breakfast offered a wide range of healthy and delicious options.

The location and hotel was great. The staff from the concierge through to the bar staff and cleaners were very accommodating. This is hotel is not self contained and I found early in the week there are not a lot of cafe's/restaurants open till about Wednesday at this time of year not sure in the summer months and the breakfast was a bit pricey. The rooms are comfortable and clean, although the pilows were average. The onsite restaurant & bar was lovely and the dinner menu was good. I enjoyed the balcony with a lovely view of the beach.

Response from Sarah Todd, Guest Services / Front Office at Sage Hotel Wollongong
Responded 25 July 2023
Dear FrequentFlier700391, We greatly appreciate your wonderful feedback regarding our hotel and staff. We are truly fortunate to be located in the beautiful city of Wollongong and to be situated right near the beach and WIN Stadium. We take great pride in our city and in the quality of our hotel, so your kind feedback means a lot to us. The Sage Hotel Wollongong is comprised of many composite parts, and our staff are the oil that makes our hotel run so well. It makes us exceedingly happy to hear their hard work acknowledged and to know that they met your needs. Sorry to hear that you were unable to find many cafes/restaurants to eat at during your stay. Our reception staff are always happy to offer local recommendations, as a few local restaurants are closed Monday/Tuesday nights. Next time you want a lovely view of the beach and a nice meal we hope you keep the Sage Hotel Wollongong in mind. Kind regards, The Team at Sage Hotel Wollongong

Excellent venue for our 3-day Sales Meeting. We used the Boardroom which has a great verandah off it which we enjoyed going outside during breaks. We had a working lunch each day, food was excellent, really nice wraps, rolls and salads, great selection to choose from each day. The Continental breakfast was also very nice with great barista coffee (extra but worth it)
The rooms are a good size with comfy beds and very clean. Great staff from housekeeping, reception and wait staff at breakfast and in the bar. If you are looking for a nice venue, close to the beach and restaurants that is extremely well priced I would highly recommend Sage at Wollongong. We walked to dinner each night with so many excellent local restaurants to choose from. about one hour 20 minutes from Sydney Airport and plenty of onsite parking or across the road and very reasonable prices.

I honestly don’t know. But it really didn’t bother us at all. We raced our kids when we got the lift and they took the stairs. I can totally understand how much it could annoy people who may always need to take the lift. I felt sorry for the staff, the housekeepers and room service staff. It would be very frustrating for them.
None that I saw a week ago. Just a pool.
