Railway Lodge, Taree, is a quirky and interesting heritage building, still retaining much of its colourful history. Having originally been the Railway-Drivers` Barracks for many years, the Lodge is close to the Railway Station yet close to Taree shops, Manni Base Hospital and the beautiful Manning River. The owner has enhanced the historic building and property with an eclectic and exotic collection of antiques and artwork from all over the world, including many Australian pieces, making the place a goldmine of fascination and intrigue. A steam engine greets guests on their arrival and a small gallery of railway memorabilia scatters itself throughout the property, also the Lodge is located directly next door to the local model railway, for those train enthusiasts. A Railway Lodge is clean and quiet and definitely not indicative of its reasonable tariff. Reception hours are from 8am-8pm. A complimentary continental breakfast is available for all of our guests to enjoy between 7am-10am

Easy check in. We were upgraded (free of charge) to a larger room which included a couch, mini fridge, air con and microwave. Very clean bathroom. Firm bed with great sheets. The motel is away from a main road but does back onto a rail line. We only heard one train in the afternoon and none at night. Would recommend for someone looking for budget accommodation.

I'm a single female and I always feel safe staying here. You can park your car right at your door and there are no steps to climb. Checking in is easy, the rooms and facilities are very clean and comfortable. The motel is conveniently located only minutes away from a large selection of restaurants & take-aways. I always get a good nights sleep and in the morning, I use the microwave to make a quick breakfast. I will definitely be back.

Checking in is hassle free, very straightforward. Lovely and very accommodating manager, Sonny. Stayed in a family room, adequate space for family of 4, has a veranda to sit and relax, and very convenient to grab your stuff from car as you can park just infront of your room. Everything you need in an overnight stay / stop over, room was clean and supplied with essentials you need. The motel has bits and pieces of train history and has a vintage vibe in every corner, the place is a bit dated but well kept and maintained. Would definitely go back again.

Weekend away with partner and our old, tiny dog. Saw motel advertised as pet friendly. On calling, told we could have our dog in the room if upgraded to a family room, to keep away from other rooms in case he was loud through the night. There were no other guests cars, heard one other person the entire day. Felt scammed out of the extra $30.
Only two mugs for drinks, long-life milk provided was 4 weeks out of date, and when we asked for more, was given a handful that was the same expiry.
Bathroom small, no shelf or hanging room. Toilet has no lid, major hygiene issue.
Double bed was extremely uncomfortable.
Free Wi-fi advertised, but could not get a strong enough signal, perhaps due to being put in the far corner of the motel.
Only good thing was that at least the room was clean.

Bed was very uncomfortable. Outside eave was falling down. Visible from bathroom window. Felt scammed out of the extra money for a family room, that we were told we had to have in order to have our dog with us. I did a google search of pet friendly motels in Taree, this was on the list. Our dog is 15, and is very quiet& tiny. Took his box, which he only left on his lead when I took him to the toilet outside the fenceline of the Motel I had a cup of tea, then discovered the milk left for use was a month out of date. I asked the Sunday manager for more milk, and it was also a month out of date. When asking for the milk, I noticed a film of dust on the coffee machine in the reception area, and the whole place looked neglected. Covid 19 cleaning procedures were clearly not adhered to. I won’t be hurrying back.

I didn't expect too much and I wasn't disappointed. The Lodge was picked because of its proximity to Taree Railway Station and one companions mobility issue (who didn't ultimately travel). Very, very basic accommodation in a small room. I think there may have been WiFi but there was nothing to indicate other than a scribbled note stuck on the door that may have been the password. The place was clean and the management helpful. It needs some work and could be pretty good but it needs some money sunk in and a grand view to realise its potential.

We booked this at the last minute because everything in Taree was booked out for the rowing comp which we didn't know until we reached here. Wow. The place is unusual. We were told it used to be the old railway workers units. The rooms are clean tidy, fridge ,AC ,kettle tea coffee. Walking into reception is like walking into an no old church with stained glass windows ,thick wooden banisters, artefacts all over. It's very unique. The rooms are either side of an open courtyard. It's brilliant. Old bell ,railway click. We found it stunning. The gentleman at reception was full of knowledge when I was asking about the place. If you get a chance going thru try and book it. You can walk to the shopping centre up on the next corner.bowls club for dinner 5 min walk.loved it

Stayed here as a stopover on way to Gold Coast. This place is 'quirky' and basic but the accommodation was comfortable and the facilities were clean and were more than adequate for my stay . I would happily stay again as the hotel provides good value and weather permitting is a short walk from town. The host was also excellent.

Last minute trip up the coast and got the last bed in Taree it seemed. Kate was lovely. The room was clean, a comfy bed, crisp sheets, fluffy towels and excellent toilet paper. Thanks for having us. Happy Days.
