Ozzie Pozzie is Port Macquarie’s most highly recommended resort youth hostel by "Lonely Planet" and "Lets-Go" and Port Macquarie’s best value and cheap youth hostel accommodation. While this quiet youth hostels location features a great social atmosphere in a tropical setting, it is only 5 mins walk from town, shops and bars. Richard used his 8 years of backpacking hostels experience to renovate and extend Ozzie Pozzie and operate it as a friendly fun-filled hostel with lots of free extras. Newly extended it is spotlessly clean with two cosy courtyards to meet and greet, and lounges & hammocks to enjoy in a cabana around a palm fringed pool.

Detailed Reviews
Stayed one night in a single room (not shared with other people). The room was on the small side but spotlessly clean and the bed was comfortable. An air conditioner would have helped as the fan was not quite enough to cool the room down. Ozzie Pozzie is about a fifteen to twenty minute walk to the centre of town (depends on your walking speed). It is set in beautiful gardens with bright, colourful eating and leisure areas. Would definitely suit young travellers.

Stayed in a twin room with ensuite, so avoided having to share bathroom facilities. The room was basic, but clean, and the staff were very helpful. There was off street parking available, and the YHA was in a great location, close to supermarkets and clubs/pubs. A lot of local events were advertised on the community board. Kitchen faciliteis were clean, and had an adequate supply of utensils for use.

It was pretty good for its price. Lots of things to do, I really enjoyed the game room. There’s also a hammock that I enjoyed resting on. Community kitchen had pretty much everything you would need; pots, pans, appliances, it was good.

While I felt safe, after hours check-in was fuss free and the kitchen/bathroom facilities were clean the overall condition of this backpackers is run down and tired. The beds were old and soft, bedding and towels were old and well worn. The kitchen was cleaned loudly each night at 10:45pm which woke us each night. I won't stay here again.

I volunteered in the Ozzie Pozzie Hostel for one month and all I can say is that I will never forget my time there. The receptionists are such lovely and helpful people trying to make everything possible for you.The whole atmosphere in the hostel is really chill, it doesn’t feel like a hostel at all, you can watch movies with your friends in the TV room, play table tennis and pool or just chill at at the pool (nicest place in my opinion ;)) The kitchen and bathrooms are really clean as well as the rooms. The hostel also arranges group surf lessons which you can do with your friends in the morning :) Literally nothing to complain about!

The hostel by itself is amazing (clean bedrooms and showers, swimming pool, ping pong table, pool, barbecue) but what I really liked was the vibe between everyone. People are chill, and respectful, always available to have a talk, and the services from the hostel allow us to bond really fast (cheers to the cheap surf lessons). Anyway, go this hostel!

Wanting a bit of 'me' time after being on the road for a while, I booked a double room for myself.
Victoria, the receptionist, was so friendly and welcoming. She showed me to my room and around the hostel.
There is a collection of buildings, housing the kitchen, dining room, games room and TV room. Plenty of spaces for guests to mingle or take time out for themselves.
My room wasn't very big, but it had it's bathroom and toilet. It was very clean and the bed was super comfortable. I'm a restless sleeper, but managed to sleep through the night.
No aircon, but a wall mounted fan that was next to useless. I imagine that the room (9) would be quite hot on a summer night.
The hostel is close to the town centre, so you can get around on foot if you don't have a car.
I couldn't be bothered cooking, so I grabbed a takeaway from the Chinese restaurant just a few hundred metres from the hostel. It is called Hot Wok and was excellent.

This was one of the best hostels iv stayed at. It was clean and beautiful with many plants around the hostel and pool. It had so many things to do within the hostel including
Darts

Pool table
Pinpong table
Movie room with couches and beanbags
Board games
Hammocks
Lounge area near pool
Music.
The staff were so lovely Matilda helped me book my reservation and Nickie was so knowledgeable about the area and the fun things to do.
I would recommend this place to anybody looking for a great experience in Port Macquarie, I will definitely be back.

Lovely organised receptionist. Facilities for a YHA Backpackers set up were great, had a good vibrant feel to it. As a couple looking for a place to sleep for the night it had all that we needed. Would easily stay again.

The hostel is nice, clean and the staff are friendly however, this is not an 18+ hostel and was woken up at 6am on a Sunday morning by children running about & screaming. As a solo backpacker who stopped here to break up the drive between Brisbane & Sydney I really needed some rest. There was nothing stated in Hostelworld about this being a child friendly hostel and if I had of known I would have booked elsewhere.
