Very tired motel needs a good renovation.
Beds were comfy though.
Ask for a room off the street it’s situated on a busy noisy road and the rooms are far from double glazed glass.
Extremely rude lady on reception on arrival was not welcoming at all.

My wife and I stayed here for one night and we were disgusted with the apparent lack of sloppy management. One bedside light did not work, one out of two ceiling lights was also not working resulting in not being able to read. My wife rang the front desk but was told they would fix it in the morning. The curtain was missing a hookand hung on an angle but the best of the lot was the cold water tap over the basin, it made the most hideous noise until water flowed. Obviously there is no checking of the rooms and when my wife complained to the woman behind the desk she showed no interest in hearing about the problems.
When booking in we were told we could pay by cash or cheque( who uses cheques these days) otherwise there was a 2% charge on Credit cards. Obviously the management don't know what the current % charges are for example I can pay for coffee at three different coffee shops with my Amex card as the only pay .95% charge. I suppose it is another way to gouge tourists by charging for credit charge use.

This motel has probably the best waterside location in Port Macquarie, and rooms facing the water and the swimming pool have wonderful views. Rooms are fairly small, most have balconies, but the decor and furniture are a bit dated. There is a great swimming pool, and a restaurant that is very pleasant. Prices change all the time, so book early.

One night stay with family. I rarely review hotels because I'm too occupied writing restaurant reviews. But this stay was exceptional.

What we liked:

- Plenty of free parking
- Friendly, courteous staff
- Immaculate older, hotel
- Six types of toiletries in room including shaving cream
- Comfy bed. Stayed in a Marriott at the beginning of this vacation and the bed at Water's Edge was newer and firmer
- Bar, restaurant, and espresso on site
- Fabulous view of the harbor
- One block to restaurants and shopping
- Good wifi
- Spacious, quiet room
- Balcony with chairs and table. Loved letting the fresh air into the room
- Table and chairs in the room too
- Reasonable price
- Room service available for just $5 AUS.

What we didn't like:

- Rooms are upstairs (only one floor above) but there is no elevator.

Would we return? Yes!

Avoid this hotel at all costs. We booked for 8 nights, paid upfront and ended up leaving on day 6 due to the continual cold showers day after day. We spoke to staff about there being no hot water, nothing was done, no explanation & no apology. The hotel should not be running if there is no hot water or at the very least, guests should be notified prior to booking. As stated we paid upfront and knew that there would be no refund on the 2 nights we didn’t stay however on checkout they tried to charge us for 5 breakfast’s & 1 restaurant meal. We only had 2 breakfast’s and did not dine in the restaurant at all, when we explained this to the staff member she completely ignored us, again no apology. Upon returning home and having time to process the awful experience we contact the hotel and were informed the GM would not be in again until Monday and they would contact us, it has been over a week and no contact. We do not write reviews and understand things can go wrong however cold water, charging guests for meals they did not have, poor customer service and lack of actual management is not on. Do yourself a favour and go somewhere else, they clearly do not care about their guests.

Not only was the actual room we got - disappointing so the manager was automatically on the defensive the next morning when I approached her. We paid for a room with a balcony and apparently it was the cheapest room avail but still cost us $345 only to find that the actual balcony has absolutely no view, not even of the carpark or buildings as the view is blocked in with a large extending awning from downstairs foyer entry, so no point having one, the room smelt of bleach, the lampshades did not work, the bathroom shampoo/conditioner were empty, only supplied 2 of 3 towels paid for and no one was available to talk to regarding any of this until the next morning. The only response I got from the manager was " Well you did pay for the cheapest room" and " Why didn't you approach us last night" - Bit hard when no one was on duty or available.
The room also states it was sound proof, unfortunately, if it was - they didn't do a very good job, we were awoken throughout the night by noise in carpark area.
Sorry Management, I believe an apology would of been enough to stop me writing this review, but instead you chose to send me an email in response to mine, virtually turning this all around on us as the consumer. I believe that your establishment is probably very beautiful but on this occassion, you dropped the ball by not providing us with a room as per advertised & by responding in a negative way towards our issues.

Our room was downstairs, very clean and tidy and overlooked the the pools and views of the river. The Motel was one of the older ones in Port and didn't have the modern bathrooms etc but it lacked nothing. There was a restaurant with great meals. My wife and I ate there three times. Happy hour from 4 - 5 pm ($5) beer and wine. The staff were exceptional including the cleaning staff and the restaurant staff - a stand out was Mark, he was the best person I have ever come across in this hospitality area. The Restaurant is not opened on Sunday or Monday night, but the Westport Bowling Club about 150 meters across the park is open. The meals there were also exceptional. Join the club, for $12 dollars you get membership 0.90 cents off beer and 0.80 cents of other drinks, 10% off meals and a $10 birthday gift, good deals in the bottle shop $6 off a 6 pack of beer ($14 for members and $20 for non). Wineries to picking strawberries to watching whales from the lighthouse, swimming at a number of beaches. Short drive to Lake Cathie, Bonny Hills, North Haven and Laurieton. A great holiday. If I had one complaint - we were asked not to take our own drinks onto the deck near the river in the afternoon, they requested we go to the bar and purchase them. No where is this advised or mentioned, and the deck bar was closed. I think Michelle could have been a little more understanding as there were only four people sitting out on the deck.

Very pleasant hotel with plenty of parking. The view was lovely and hotel is well situated to walk into town. We had the upper floor and it seemed that the occupants of the rooms below all smoked so we could’nt sit on our balcony for the smell. The shower was extremely difficult to regulate almost to the point of being dangerous so I don’t know if this can be corrected but it is a potential problem. Overall, we very much enjoyed our stay and I was impressed that there was housekeeping/cleaning on the weekends.

The staff double charged my friend and I upon check out, even though we had proof of payment with booking.com, they said they never received payment so proceeded to charge us again. Maree on reception (extremely rude lady) called us back 20 minutes later to say that they had actually received booking.com's payment and she would transfer back to us. Almost 2 weeks later and we still have not received the refund. We have called and emailed numerous times and receive the same rude "not our problem" response.

The room itself is outdated, shower made an extremely loud screaming sound when using it and I found two small cockroaches in the room. Would not recommend to anyone.

Don’t bother. Looks nice on the website, and the on-site restaurant is great, but the room was pretty bad. Dated decor, bed was too hard to sleep in, and the shower was either scalding or freezing. Lots of road noise. Would never stay here again.

Answer from WatersEdge B

Hi Ankhira, our full buffet breakfast is available for $25 for two people if booked on arrival. Otherwise, breakfast is available walk-in for $20 per person for buffet or $15 per person for continental. I hope this helps with your query. Thanks, Waters Edge Reception.
