McCaffrey's Estate is located on Hermitage Road, Pokolbin and is nestled in the heart of Hunter Valley Wine Country, only 2 hours north of Sydney. Stay in our self-contained cottages amongst the vines, or join us for a wine tasting in our cellar door open daily 10.00am - 5.00pm. Located within walking distance of wineries, restaurants and just a short drive from Hunter Valley Gardens and championship golf courses. We are the ideal base to stay for major concerts in the region with coach transfers available. McCaffrey's Estate offers self-contained accommodation in our vineyard cottages. Each cottage has two bedrooms, comfortably sleeping four adults, an open plan living room with wood burning fire plus kitchen and dining areas. Our cottages have their own private patios equipped with BBQ and outdoor dining tables. Guests have access to the outdoor saltwater pool during the summer months and are most welcome to wander amongst the vines. Bicycle hire can be arranged and horse riding is available nearby. We have toys, high chairs & travel cots available along with plenty of space for little legs to explore. Board games, cards and bocce to keep kids of all ages amused. Our friendly dogs, chickens and ducks love meeting our guests and nothing beats fresh eggs in the morning. Award winning venues at a short distance such as 500m Restaurant Botanica, 700m Ironbark Hill Brewhouse/Enzo Weddings/Peter Drayton Wines, 800m Yellow Billy/Piggs Peake Wines & Two Fat Blokes. Enjoy the serenity as you walk or cycle the Around Hermitage Cycleway.

Thank you so much to Danielle and her family for a fabulous stay at the gorgeous Cabernet Cottage on McCaffrey’s Estate. Danielle’s hospitality was exceptional - she had thought of the finer details to make our stay amazing, from a very spotless and well equipped cottage, lovely homely decor, delicious breakfast goodies left for us, fresh local eggs, a coffee machine and lovely selection of teas, a box of toys for our kids to enjoy, great directions and local tips and recommendations right through to a reminder to book our shuttle bus before bookings to the concert we were attending closed.
It was such a treat to spend a long weekend enjoying lovely views across the vines, spotting kangaroos, swimming in the pool and seeing sooooo many stars at nighttime....ahhh the serenity! We attended the Cold Chisel concert at Hope Estate while we were in the Hunter Valley and it was so convenient to catch the shuttle bus to the venue just across the road from McCaffrey’s Estate. We also loved being so close to some great restaurants and cellar doors! Thanks again to our super duper host Danielle - we will be back for sure!

This was our second stay at McCaffrey’s cottages and won’t be our last. The cottages are the perfect home away from home, peaceful and idyllic location amongst the vineyards. Everything you need is at your fingertips including a pool for the hot days and fireplace for the cool days. Likewise, the breakfast hamper, kitchen etc has all the comfort of home for a relaxed stay. Danielle is the most gorgeous, friendly host who goes above and beyond. Highly recommend this location and accomodation- beautiful wineries and restaurants close by or a short drive. We also love that a stay here is supporting a hard working, young family build their dream!

We enjoyed a lovely few days in the Cabernet cottage on McCaffrey’s Estate in Pokolbin. The location was excellent for getting around to all the major wineries and restaurants.
Our cottage was extremely comfortable although not luxurious it still had a lovely country cottage ambience. We loved the pot belly stove and the breakfast hamper with fresh eggs which was greatly appreciated.
The cottage is nestled into the backdrop of the vineyards with a small lake at the back which was lovely to walk around.

Our stay at McCaffrey estate this August was amazing. My family booked both cottages so we could all stay together. We had a group ranging from 8 months old to 60 years young and it catered to all needs perfectly. There were chickens and roos for the kids to dote on and a cellar door for the adults to enjoy. Both cottages had beautiful fire places that we enjoyed the whole weekend. Declan and Danielle were amazing hosts and were able to provide suggestions on things to do in the Hunter. We cant wait to come back in Spring to see the vineyards at their finest.

McCaffrey's was such a lovely, cosy cottage. The McCaffrey's offered little touches to the stay, such as a bottle of wine from their vineyard and sticks/logs that they had collected prior to our arrival that were placed by the fireplace ready for use; this just added to the genuine, welcoming and caring nature. The location was great too; close to the main restaurants, bars etc, but also secluded in terms of noise pollution etc. We had a minor issue with the door not locking, I texted Danielle, and this was attended to in a timely manner.

We had a great time! The cottage was very clean and so cosy with the fire going at night. Bonus points for the cupboard of toys for the kids! We loved tasting the wines and strolling through the vines. Lots of great food options nearby, or perfectly set up to BYO. You can feed the goats next door for a gold coin too, which is super fun for the kiddies. Danielle and Declan are incredibly friendly and helpful. No downsides to our visit!!

We recently took my in-laws from the UK for a three night stay at the beautiful McCaffrey's Estate. We had the most wonderful stay with my in-laws absolutely raving about it! The cottages are a home away from home – hosts Danielle and Declan have thought of everything – fresh produce in the cottage, a gorgeous bottle of wine chilling in the fridge, and the fire stacked and ready to go. Our 6 and 4 year old enjoyed the pool, toasting marshmallows over the outside fire pit, and running amongst the vines. And our afternoon spent wine tasting in their cellar door was such an experience. Some of the best tasting wines in the Hunter and incredible stories from the host, Declan. Thank you so much for a fabulous stay – we'll definitely be returning for more!

Couldn’t recommend our stay with Danielle and Declan more! We were treated like family from the minute we arrived and they went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and at home. We had a ball! It was so special to be able to have a wine tasting where we lodged and we found it so personal and lovely to have a chat with the owners themselves as we sat down to enjoy the delicious wines they had to offer. We felt so relaxed and the accomodation itself was gorgeous too. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back as soon as we can. Thanks Danielle and Declan for your hospitality.

This was the perfect 1st family holiday with our baby at McCaffrey's Estate! The owner Danielle was very welcoming and accommodating during our stay. The cottage was very cosy and extremely clean. As a family we had the best time relaxing in the cottage and exploring outside in the vineyard. The best part of our trip was sipping on a nice bottle of McCaffrey's red wine, watching the sun go down over vineyard, listening to the sound of nature and seeing the local kangaroos all from our backyard veranda. I highly recommend this estate if you are travelling as a couple, family or with a group of friends! Thank you for having us. We will definitely be coming back to stay again!

This was our first stay here in the 2 bedroom self contained cottage.
Both Danielle and Declan are amazing hosts.
The accommodation was child friendly and allowed us to relax with our 18 month old daughter.
Beautiful location with stunning views. In particular overlooking the dam and vineyards from the back deck often with Kangaroos in full sight.
Our daughter loved the chickens, ducks and pool.
This place is a hidden gem! Wines are also amazing and we will certainly be back.
