What a great weekend away in the Hunter! The Hunter Valley Cooperage B&B was absolutely perfect. The estate that the b&b sits is lovely & peaceful with nice places to walk, have a picnic and just relax. The location is close to at least 2 cellar doors within walking distance (Kelmans & Saddler Creek) and a short drive to many others and restaurants. The hosts were lovely and very helpful in making our stay comfortable. Our room was cozy and led out to a shared deck that overlooked the vineyards, which was my favorite spot to have a morning coffee. The breakfast served each morning was incredible and made our stay even more special! I would 100% recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful and relaxing getaway.

Our first stay in a b&b and couldn’t be happier. Our lovely hosts Gay and Warren were fabulous. We stayed in the Shiraz room, which shared a balcony, was very cosy and private if needed. Walked around the estate and had a cheese platter whilst tasting the beautiful wines from Kelman wines. Highly recommended

I visited Cooperage B&B on Boxing Day with two friends for a ladies night away in the Hunter. Gaye and Warren were such amazing hosts, friendly, inviting and hospitable. We were greeted warmly as we entered their home on arrival. Our hosts were so knowledgable with great advice on places to see, restaurants to visit and things to do during our stay which was extremely helpful. We were so delighted by our stay in our gorgeous cabin style room outside of the main house. Immaculately presented rooms with clean amenities. Lovely country style decor, comfortable bed and furnishings. Felt like the Little House on the Prairie. Amazing and delicious breakfast included in our stay. My friend who is gluten free was accommodated with her dietary needs without a problem. Wonderful theatre room with a great selection of DVD's. I gather it would be amazing to stay in Winter with use of their fireplace. Open plan lounge looks out to views of the vineyards. We had a sneak peak into the rooms in the main house, which I would highly recommend as they are beautifully appointed and quite luxurious. Overall a very cozy, relaxing and enjoyable stay. I would love to return for another visit next time I'm in the Hunter. Thank you, Gaye and Warren for making us feel at home, in your gorgeous home.

We stayed with another couple for three nights touring the Hunter Valley. Our hosts were very helpful with suggestions of wine tours, restaurants and interesting places to visit. They have lived in the Hunter for 20 years so are experts! We had very comfortable rooms which opened onto a patio. Breakfast was outside on the patio and a different breakfast was served every morning - beautifully cooked and presented! There was a very large lounge area for relaxing and interesting books to read! Very central location set amongst the vines.

We stayed for 2 nights in late December. The property is beautiful, situated in a vineyard which is very peaceful, The room we stayed in was gorgeous, with a very comfortable bed, and access to a veranda where you could sit and enjoy the view. Gay and Warren are excellent, helpful hosts, with lots of suggestions of where to go and local knowledge. The breakfasts on offer are delicious and filling. Highly recommend.

Booked at the last minute and the hosts were kind enough to wait for us to arrive from Sydney. Despite arriving an hour or so later than promised, we were greeted with a smile and had a wonderful cosy room waiting for us.

Breakfast was better than fine dining ... the property is gorgeous.

The hosts are kind and make the stay well worth it!

The surrounding estate is cozy! With so many choices in the Hunter; make it easy by choosing this place ..
Definitely worth a stay!

We arrived and all was good until they decided to hand us a notice that mentioned we shouldnt have sex on the doona as we would have to pay a surcharge for "removal of DNA". To us that was the most bizarre thing. Totally mental. Still waiting for a reply on our money back. Do NOT stay there!

Just had a great weekend in the Hunter Valley doing the whole wine tasting thing.

We stayed at the Hunter Valley Cooperage B&B in Kelman Vineyards which was absolutely perfect. I had emailed a few weeks back and had no problem making a reservation and arranging everything. There are 3 or 4 rooms at the B&B plus "the retreat" (which was booked by Honeymooners when we stayed). We had The "Shiraz" room which was spacious, spotlessly clean and well equipped - very clean bathroom with nice toiletries, TV & DVD, big bed, plush bathrobes and slippers etc, even a welcome tray with a welcome bottle of liquor and chocolates.

The Cooperage feels like a modern new building - huge guest living room, brilliant little "theatre" downstairs with big screen, surround sound and DVDs to choose from (I'd probably bring my own if we go again). Would be fantastic to stay if there were a group of you - you could have your own movie night. Gay & Warren Cooper were very welcoming and not "in your face" at all. Breakfasts out on the deck were superb - freshly poached eggs, asparagus and hollandaise sauce on toasted breads on the first morning (with lots of fresh fuits and yogurts and cereals as an option) and ricotta hotcakes with honeycomb butter and maple syrup the next day - great views out over the vines.

Excellent location - tons of vineyards in Polkolbin - all within 15 mins drive. Gay Cooper (Joint owner with Warren Cooper) also kindly recommended and made reservations for a tour with "James" for $50/person - a minibus took us around various vineyards from 10:30am to around 5pm. A great tour if you're new to wine as it was a good introduction with some nice wineries included but if you consider yourself a wine expert might be a bit basic. We'd done our research and were particularly interested in the wineries with better reviews/unusual higher quality wines - Meerea Park, Tyrells, Lake's Folly etc - and these weren't included by James but I'd still give the tour 7/10.

We tried to eat at Leaves and Fishes on Saturday night but unfortunatley tried to book the shuttle too late so had to give it a miss - ended up a cheap but cheerful BLUE Thai restaurant round the corner - very good food.

Made reservations for Esca restaurant at Bimbadgen vineyard for Sunday lunch (they only do lunch) and had amazing meal with great wines.

Hunter Valley is VERY different to Napa Valley (we went to Napa last year) - more relaxed, more affordable (tastings are free), not as glossy and polished as Napa but just as much fun - everyone very friendly and welcoming and some good wines.

This experience was by far the worst (of our many luxurious stays in other areas). To put it quite simply the staff weren't there as they had family drama, the theatre was sent away for service, the owners promised to refund the money should we live hours after arriving (based on our dissapointment and fear of being taken advantage of). The owner promised a refund until it came time to follow through with it. 4 hours later we were charged 433.00 even tho a refund was promised upon leaving. The owners justified the no refund by stating they'd fear we had ruined their property since we were left unattended, which is this most insulting comment I have ever heard, as long with their other comment of being 'high maintenance'. THINK VERY CAREFULLY BEFORE BOOKING, DO YOUR RESEARCH !! I attached 1 photo to show was resulted in a 433.00 charge, as this was the only part of the service we had used.

Hello,

I stayed in this gorgeous B&B in June this year with my boyfriend. I have so many great things to say about this place absolutely gorgeous house and gardens, really comfy bed, beautiful bathroom, incredibly clean, great massive cinema. In a great location short drive to all the great sights in the Hunter Valley. The hosts are so incredibly LOVELY and the breakfast is too DIE FOR......

We got the romantic package which included the most delicious 3 course meal at this cute little restaurant and a really really relaxing massage for two at this lovely day spa.

I highly recommend this place if you are going to the hunter valley and I would be more than happy to answer any questions.

Thanks

Hi, we also stayed in the Chardonnay room and in terms of size i'd probably describe it as average, definitely not small. However, you have acces via a double sliding glass door to a beautiful big verandah which has a stunning view over the vineyards and down to the lake - just delightful. You also have access to a huge common area which has those same views and theres also a theatre room for guest to use. The hosts are fantastic and the breakfasts (homemade by Gay) are second to none - just delicious! If your husband loves B&B's and vineyards, as my husband does, then look no further than The Cooperage.
