We stayed at Billabong Moon on Saturday night with good friends and can't wait to do it again. It's a stunning property and feels more like a retreat than a night in the Hunter. The cottage is divine, impeccably clean, has all the utilities you need (complete with private ensuite off both bedrooms), and is situated aside a picturesque 'billabong'. They've thought of everything, right down to the netted outhouse so that you can enjoy a glass of wine by the water of an evening without being eaten alive. We slept like babies (too much wine, or really comfy bed?? Both?!), it was the perfect weekend getaway and we can't wait to return. Oh, and there's a divine pool with lounge chairs on the property if you're that way inclined. Enjoy!!

Just spent two nights in the Billabong Moon cottage and wish we could have stayed longer. We stayed in the one on the lake and the kids had wonderful time fishing - we even caught a carp! The cottage was beautiful and everything was provided for a perfect stay, we just had to pop out and choose some wine ;-) We've stayed at a few different cottages in the Hunter and this one was definitely the best so far - highly recommended to anyone. Also, if you are staying here, I would really recommend dinner at Botanica which is just 5 mins away.

This is a unique experience with quality accommodation and is a rural retreat. Nearby vineyards are accessible and hosts are discrete and very friendly- nothing too much trouble. We were in sunset ridge- enjoy a Barbie watching the sun go down- followed by a red wine bath! Ideal base for a wine tour!

Quite simply the best self-contained accommodation we have experienced. We have stayed in the Hunter Valley many times over the past ten years and our stay at Billabong Moon was the most outstanding. The location was handy to great cellar doors and restaurants. Billabong Cottage was private and beautifully situated. The breakfast, wine and cheese provisions were very generous. There were many thoughtful inclusions throughout the cottage, including a coffee machine, candles, incense, magazines, bath robes, well equipped kitchen, fishing supplies, row-boat- I could go on all day! The fireplace was even prepared with kindling, ready for us to light on the first night. The views from the deck were gorgeous, sitting out on the lounger with a glass of wine, watching the perch come to…

Our stay at Billabong Moon, in the Treetops studio was simply the best self serviced accommodation we have ever stayed at. During our 3 night stay, we did not see another soul, although all cabins were booked. The only person we did see was the owner delivering us more bacon! The Treetops cabin is set at the back of the property in a totally secluded spot, perfect for the ultimate in romantic bathing experience.. (see the website for pics of the bath in the bush!) It is a must do. We were woken each morning by no other noise than the chirping of tiny brightly coloured sparrows, just beckoning us to come and watch them play. Our room came with well stocked fridge and pantry, including a bottle of wine and enough bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes, muesli, bread & milk for our 3…

My husband, myself, and my friend (since 1st class at school) and her husband have just returned from 2 nights stay at Billabong Moon cottage. From the moment we arrived everything was perfect. Jenny was very accommodating, and friendly. There was provisions provided for breakfast, eggs, bacon, mushrooms, tomato & bread as well as condiments. A cheese platter, bottle of wine and chocolates were also supplied. The 2 bedrooms were well appointed, with comfy beds. The en suites were full size bathrooms. After a day visiting the vineyards it was lovely to sit on the deck and watch the sunset. On our second night the weather was cold so we lit the fire ..wonderful. On our last morning the boys caught 3 large silver bream. Well done Jenny, we will be back. Pamela Doniger

My partner and I enjoyed a three night stay in the Studio Cottage at Billabong Moon. I had collected her from Sydney airport - a long haul trip from the UK - and we drove the very next day to the Hunter Valley. BM has a unique value proposition, which I'll describe thus; after 'checking-in', we drove to our cottage and never saw another human being for the entire duration of our stay. Our 'fridge was adequately stocked, and for reason of the jet lag, took the opportunity to relax and adjust. It was heaven - no maids, no bar, no schedule to keep to, no nothing, just perfectly peaceful solitude. A magnificent idea and on our part, well worth the investment.

My partner and I stayed here for a mid week getaway, and after being greeted by the lovely Jenny on arrival, we headed up to the cottage which is a short drive around the Billabong and up into the property. We opted for the Sunset Cottage and that is exactly what we got. A stunning orange and pink sky was the backdrop for our early evening complimentary bottle of wine and cheese platter. The cottage was spotless and lovely. So lovely to not be surrounded by other rooms, in a huge hotel full of other guests and the only sound is from the very rare car along the bordering roads and the wildlife. No one else and no one else's kids either! From the luxurious white linens on the huge four- poster King size bed, to the corner spa bath and water fall shower we felt spoilt. There is…

Property has 5 cottages - we stayed in Billabong Moon (2 bdrm en suits) which was plenty of space for the two of us with our 10 month old. Jenny and Andy were very nice and accomodated us. Jenny even set up a portacot so we didn't have to pack ours - we brought the playpen instead bonus! Was cool during our stay, but once we built a nice fire it was nice and toasty. Baby slept in the back bedroom which stayed cooler than the other rooms so make sure to put the 2.5 tog grobag (sleeping bag) on on top of baby's jammies and she will sleep fine :-) Lots to do on your down time between visiting cellar doors and eating out. Had a paddle in the rowboat and a putt on their green for giggles and walked around their 25 acre porpery. We even got to meet Matilda and her baby (resident…
