Welcome to Wine Country Retreat, your “home away from home" in the Hunter Valley. Our aim is to make your stay as relaxing and enjoyable as possible, which is why so many of our guests continue to come back year after year. Our fully refurbished studio rooms are comfortable and delightfully furnished. They feature mostly King-sized beds made up with fresh linen and cosy duvets. Each room has an ensuite bathroom, reverse cycle air conditioning, TV, tea and coffee making facilities and a minibar fridge. All our guests are provided with continental breakfast in the dining room and complementary WIFI. Our property is 6 hectares of park-like grounds and natural Australian bush. Sit by the lake filled with lilies and feed the ducks. Collect the eggs from the chickens for your breakfast or help us feed our rescued farm animals - Pippa and Peaches the pigs, and Lucky the Merino lamb. If you're lucky you might get a cuddle with Milly and Tilly the Angora goats or spot some of the mobs of kangaroos that graze amongst the vines each morning and afternoon. The property also boasts a sparkling pool, sauna and gymnasium. Relax in our guest lounge and library and read a good book by the fire. The kids will love the tyre swing, basketball hoop, and the giant chess set. There is no shortage of things to do in the area and we are just a few minutes drive from award-winning local vineyards, concert venues and restaurants and the quaint village of Branxton.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It was fantastic to return to WCR! As soon as you arrive you are greeted with friendly smiles. The view from the dining room instantly makes you relax. I love the fact that each room has their own table and chairs to sit on the balcony for your morning cuppa but other options such as the bbq area, pool and dining room/bar for a sunset drink and delicious meal! All up fabulous accommodation in a great spot.

We had an amazing week at WCR! As a family with two young boys we couldn't have been happier. The boys had ample space to run around, they loved the animal and collected eggs each morning with Andy! All the activities and wine tastings we had planned were never more than a 15 minute drive. We will definitely be going back!

Can't fault the place - good location, clean and neat, beautiful grounds / outlook, quiet (probably until we came along!), relaxed vibe, food was delicious, hosts were friendly, animals were a hit! Special mention to Andrea who always greeted us with a big smile, made time to chat and was genuinely interested. Thank you! Regards Nicole

The owner generously donated our prize of an overnight stay at this retreat and it was a very relaxing and tranquil stay. The rooms were were lovely and most comfy beds too! The setting was spectacular with wine vines , native bush and a fabulous pool and sauna area. It would be great for families with the local farm animals like ponies , pigs making themselves at home . Highly recommended

Enjoyed a relaxing restorative 3 night stay on this lovely property. Nothing fancy just good old fashioned friendly genuine hospitality set in beautiful surroundings. Loved the docile pigs ponies and goat on hand for a pat. Delicious daily breakfast and superb coffee. Excellent wine tasting on our first evening.

Our stay at the Retreat was awesome! Danielle and Andy were the best hosts - friendly, approachable, knowledgeable about the area and we felt like nothing was too much trouble for them. The accommodation was very relaxing - the room was well-appointed, the king sized bed was comfortable, the pool was inviting, the pond was soothing, the breakfast was delicious, the pigs and miniature ponies were very cute roaming around the property, and we really felt very peaceful sitting on the verandah enjoying an afternoon bevvy. We will be booking again and can thoroughly recommend this as a must stay!

Had the pleasure of staying at Wine Country Retreat for 2 nights and the entire experience was fantastic. What a fabulous rural setting and a terrific place to relax and unwind. From the moment we arrived, Danielle and Andy made us feel extremely welcome and were the perfect hosts - warm, friendly and extremely knowledgable about the local area. The accommodation was great and the food we had in the restaurant was incredible (I'm talking 5 star!). A sensational place to relax and enjoy nature, as well as being only a few minutes drive from all the main wineries. We will definitely be back!

Beautiful property, we had an amazing easter break here. Danielle and Andy went over and above to look after us, so helpful with local info. Facilities are fab, wine tasting on site, a sparkling pool, lovely scenery and very family friendly. The breakfast was amazing and plenty of activities for the kids and space to run around, we loved the free roaming ponies, pigs and chickens. The property is in a perfect location, so close to all the wineries and local restaurants, we would totally recommend and really enjoyed our 3 day vacation.

We had four cabins. Danielle and Andrew had arranged us in a row and we had so much space and freedom. We slept like logs in our cabins. Our hosts were gracious and so facilitating. We BBQd in the evening and explored the Hunter by day. We set up our evening meals in the beautiful bush and had animals roaming around like a film set! We were the guests of the pet animals! The pool was delicious and silky clean. Cannot recommend highly enough!
