Recently I spend a week at Oaks Cypress Lake. The villa I stayed in , was very near to reception and the pool area - very convenient for us as the kids were in the pool area most of the time. Villa looked and felt that it was recently renovated - modern and chic with all the amenities you expect in a self contained apartments/ villas. The menu at the Bistro was simple but each dishes were well prepared. My favourites were the squid, Barramundi and the schnitzel..!!! Easily and by far, this is the best resort on Hunters Valley… All staff at front desk and bistro were super helpful ..!!! Thank you
This property is beautiful, with 2 swimming pools and nice units surrounded by a golf course. Great location. The service, since upon arrival, was absolutely APPALLING. Josephine and Mel both at the front desk were extremely rude. And when the water was shut down at the entire resort for hours, rather than being accommodating or somewhat apologetic, were rude!! The maid did not service the room. When we asked for towels, she threw them on a chair and collected our rubbish. Unfortunate for the service.
On booking we were offered a quite room with views overlooking one of the fairways. What we got on checking in was a room below a family unit that was surrounded by bush without any views. The rooms and resort is very tired, which is surprising when you think they’ve had ample opportunity during Covid and lower guest numbers to get on top of their maintenance and decorating. We stayed over Christmas and had also booked in for Christmas lunch. Lunch was a buffet style with meat that had been hacked not carved and full of bones, dry, tasteless and poorly presented. I wouldn’t waste my money and stay here again, plenty of good alternatives around the Hunter. On the plus side, the golf course is amazing but luckily nothing to do with the Oaks!
Resort significantly impacted by staffing numbers which impacted on service, particularly for breakfast service where preparations had not been sufficiently made for guests to eat outside. The alternative of taking breakfast back to our room was not an option given the distance we were from our room
Friendly staff. We wanted a resort experience vs staying in an Airbnb. We are 5 adults, so are used to paying a substantial amount of money for 3 bedrooms in a good Airbnb. The place was very spacious, but there were some cleanliness issues. Breakfast was included in stay but pretty poor. Generally it all felt like being stuck in the 90's. Luckily it was only 3 nights. On Friday morning a guy came in a little tractor and BLOWER and started blowing leaves off the pavements around the units. I came out and asked him. dude, people had late nights and everyone is sleeping! Sorry he said, I am told to do this at this time. I said come back at 10! He disappeared ,so maybe he called management. Overall, dont bother spending your money on this place unless you get a super discount. We paid $2400 for 3 nights and if I went to AirBNB I would have been in a castle!…
