We have just returned from an enjoyable stay in the Emerald Gem villa.

The setting is tranquil and relaxing with views to Lake Canobolas, we enjoyed a walk to the lake and then a twilight dinner in the garden (trees providing the shade).

The villa was spacious and comfortable, with luxury touches. Pam, the owner, provides everything you need for you stay from excellent wine and chocolates through to a wide variety of breakfast ingredients. The kitchenette is very well equiped and includes the essentials needed to cook. There is also a Weber bbq on the terrace.

Orange is about 10 minutes away and it is easy to organise a taxi if needed.

Highly recommended.

Out of town ,with some unsealed road driving ,we rented the two bedroom luxury cabins. The cabins were good ( luxury?) newish, neat and clean with two comfortable king beds and each had ensuite. Plenty of fresh local produce was supplied, cereal, mushrooms, apples, eggs, bread, bacon, huge fruit platter and cheese plate were much appreciated. Facing west towards the lake was mainly a pretty paddock with cows and kangaroos wandering past. Air con worked ok although struggled in the heat in the bedrooms as we had a few very hot days. The lake was a nice 10 minute walk downhill for a swim or an easy 2.3 km walk around which was great. There is a local cafe next to the lake which was good.
Unfortunately we had a few minor issues such as no wifi which rendered the great entertainment system useless ( temporary we were told due to building g works) , some bathroom issues the owners can explain, and although inside furniture was comfortable the outside table and seating was not. This was a shame as we spent most of the evening outside watching the stunning sun set and using the bbq .
Owners Pam and Trevor were helpful and quick to respond to enquires .
A visit to Millthorpe, historic town and Mt Canoblis all good day trips as well as Orange town centre with its wide tree lined streets. Plenty of wineries around which we didn’t get too.

Thank you for your review & feedback, Janet – it was lovely to meet you and your group as our guests when you stayed. You question that we are luxury – as you can see all our other reviews say that we are luxury. We apologise if we fell short of your expectations in certain areas, as we strive to provide a luxury experience for all our guests’. Naturally we were disappointed to receive some negative comments. You’ll be pleased to know that our all-weather gravel road & the Wi-Fi have both been upgraded. The road has lots of new gravel and been graded & rolled – so lovely to drive on. The Wi-Fi has a new aerial & a router in each villa – so it will be amazing for all our guests. Both road and Wi-Fi are much better than previous. Our state-of-the-art bathrooms do not have a door between the bedroom and the bathroom. Most of our guests do not have a problem with this & in fact love our very big baths and high ceiling showers (especially tall men). We apologise for the inconvenience this caused you during your stay. Whilst you were in Orange, the weather was unseasonably hot, which would have affected the performance of the air conditioning system in your villa – even though it is a ducted system. Thankfully you utilised the Lake for some much-needed swims for cooling down. I love the fact that the Lake Reserve is our backyard to play in. Regarding the outdoor chairs, we do provide cushions for added comfort – they are inside the villa. We apologize if this was not communicated to you properly. Also, it’s not a problem to move the much larger dining chairs outside as required. We appreciate your understanding & we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future and provide you with an enhanced luxury experience.

We stayed at Lakeview to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Great location, great place and great hosts. Pam and Trevor leave nothing out when it comes to making sure everything is there for you. Being at Orange, there is no shortage of wineries and great food places to visit and this place makes the perfect staging post for those visits.

Thank you mackellar2024 for this fabulous review. Trevor and I love to spoil our guests and aim to cater for their every need - so thankyou for your praise. Yes - "the perfect staging post" - we sit on a beautiful piece of rural land - almost in the middle of everything. But who would know - with beautiful views, walks, peace and tranquility - we feel like we are miles from anywhere. Thanks again for your very high rating. Pam & Trevor

Review from Christine and Peter. Tamworth. 4.3.2024.
Pam and Trevor -
Down the road away
There is a place to stay.
They call it Lakeview Retreat.
With beautiful views, peace & quiet
And a fridge full of yummy treats.
It was built with love
And a whole lot of thought.
That’s evident wherever you look
Cause walking in and seeing it
You knew that’s what it took.

Family history and generations on
Once an apple orchard – things have moved on.
Now they share it with all of us
How grateful could we be?
Well more than you can imagine
Thank you from Peter and Me.

Thank you, Christine and Peter, for these heartfelt words. Your gracious appreciation has deeply touched us, and we're overjoyed to hear that our property and hospitality left such an impression - that you decided to compose a poem. Meeting you both was an absolute pleasure, and we're thrilled that you found joy in the details we've poured our hearts into. Your poetic prose truly touched us, and your kind words continue to inspire us. I'm over the moon! We sincerely hope to welcome you back in the future and create more cherished memories together. We just returned from an amazing 3 nights stay in the Red Cabin at Lakeview.
Based on the great reviews we had high expectations which were not only met but far exceeded.

The cabin had a beautiful and large living area with gas fire place, a kitchen, a bedroom with the most comfortable bed and an amazing bathroom with huge bath tub and rain shower. It was pretty cold in Orange this weekend but thanks to the double glazed windows and great insulation as well as reverse cycle heater and floor heating in the bathroom our cabin was warm and cosy. The view was stunning and it was just so peaceful and quiet. Then there was the FOOD! The fridge and kitchen cupboards were filled with local produce. Breads, Eggs, Bacon, Mushrooms, Fruit, a bottle of wine, beer, milk, tea, coffee, cereal and lots of other treats. We didn't need to buy anything for breakfast, lunch or snacks during our entire stay. We truly enjoyed trying all the delicious local food and wine.

Thank you Pam and Trevor for creating such a gem. 5 Stars from us and we will be back!

We had a 2 night stay over a Sat & Sun with the intention of relaxing and enjoying the local wine. The cabin was amazing. Well appointed and luxurious. All the little things that I usually bring along were provided, and then some. The inclusions of local produce were excellent and abundant. Pam & Trevor were excellent hosts and do a fantastic job. This place has been one of the best that we have stayed at across the Hunter/Mudgee/Orange region. The only disappointment was that we only had 2 nights. We would have loved to have stayed longer.

Lakeview really is the perfect retreat! I booked a weekends stay for my fiance's birthday, I wanted to spoil him a little and was impressed by the good reviews Lakeview has... all I can say is they don't do it justice!! The peace and tranquility is out of this world - all the stresses of city living melted away as soon as we stepped out the car. You feel like you could be in the middle of nowhere, it is so blissfully quiet, but in actuality, the centre of Orange is only a 10 minute drive away. We stayed in the Green Cabin, the decor and attention to detail is simply exquisite! The breakfast hamper included with the cabin was divine - full of local produce and there was enough to feed us both days (breakfast and lunch!). A huge thank you to Trevor and Pam who were the perfect hosts. I highly recommend Lakeview cabins to anyone who wants to escape city life - we shall most definitely be visiting again soon!

This is now the second time that we have stayed at Lakeview Cabins in Orange and it does not disappoint in any form. The hosts Pam & Trevor really go out of their way to make your stay a memorable one. The cabins are truly 5 star and the food supplied for our 5 day stay was without a doubt the most comprehensive variety we have had at any place we have stayed at. The location overlooking Lake Canobolas completes the whole experience and a feeling of not wanting to leave.
Thanks Pam and Trevor

Pam and Trevor have a wonderful setup here. Whomever is the creative mind in that relationship deserves a pat-on-the-back.

The facilities are modern and clean, stocked with all sorts of goodies from local vendors. The fruit platter was seriously impressive in particular (strawberries, blueberries and grapes), and we loved the local bacon/sausages/eggs/mushrooms for a cooked breakfast on the final day. (Our mistake was to plan being out for meals while in Orange - we should have spent more in time IN.)

Anyway - thanks Pam/Trevor - your apartment was a big contributor to our wonderful weekend away!
