Our group of five couples stayed for three nights at Black Sheep Inn - our third visit, to add to family visits over a number of years - and we have never been anything but completely happy with our stay there.

The converted woodshed accommodation is superb - great decor, spaces and atmosphere, very well appointed, furnished and equipped, comfortable, impeccably clean and well maintained and with wonderful views over the surrounding rolling countryside. There is also a large covered verandah with a bbq and the same beautiful views. Bedrooms are spacious and each has a very adequate en suite bathroom with toiletries supplied. The kitchen is very well equipped and the breakfast supplies are delicious and generous. And all this only a short 10 minute drive from Orange!

Our hostess, Helen, was as usual, delightful, anxious to make our stay comfortable and happy to provide advice about local restaurants and attractions.

I thoroughly recommend Black Sheep inn, particularly for a group who can occupy the whole facility.

Black Sheep Inn is a fantastic place to stay. We were a group of 8 adults. The rooms are wonderful and each with an ensuite. The beds and pillows super comfy. The inn is big so plenty of room for everyone. Sitting by the fire at night was so lovely and out on the deck during the day. The views are gorgeous. We played bocce on the large grassy area and loved watching the beautiful view. The kitchen is great and we cooked in one night and cooked a BBQ brekky each morning. It is super clean and Helen and her family were so easy to deal with. We could not fault it. Everyone was raving about it and highly recommend it for family or friends.

Hi Kate, I'm so happy to hear that your group enjoyed your stay with us and had perfect weather for a game of bocce! Sorry not to meet all the sisters, but it was great chatting to you and Michael. Looking forward to accommodating you again in the future! Take care, Helen

Stayed here with 2 other couples and 2 children. Plenty of space, fireplace and so clever how they have maintained the sheep station. Helen was delightful, loads of breakfast items and home made banana bread. Each room has it’s own bathroom and a beautiful view of the countryside.

Old woolshed thoughtfully converted into excellent accommodation for 5 couples. Each room had its own bathroom. Very comfy beds and seats for 16 around the old wool classing table, which is now a terrific dining table. Two lovely lounging spaces with gorgeous views over the rolling countryside.

Weber BBQ on the deck was very handy. Kitchen was a bit cramped but perfectly OK.

Just 10 minutes from Orange.

We spent a beautiful winters weekend at the Black Inn, in their new Whispering Room Cottage. We found it to be very charming , comfortable and cozy.

We were very impressed with everything actually. It was amazing having the fire going upon arrival. Well stocked kitchen with good quality tea and coffee was great.

I would highly recommend the BSI to anyone and look forward to coming back next year.

Our group of 4 couples stayed over the June long weekend. What a wonderful b&b. Wonderfully peaceful, yet handy location. The old shearer's shed has been delightully restored so that its occupants still sense the atmosphere of days gone by. So warm and cosy for this time of year. Each room and its ensuite perfectly comfortable and roomy. The breakfasts were truly first class - excellent quality and perfect quantity. Initially thought a 3-course breakfast would leave us too sated for further food tasting in the fantastic Orange district but no! something different each morning. Compliments to the chef - the best breakfast in any b&b ever!....Thank you to Helen for her delightful hosting - inconspicuous and unpretentious, yet warm and welcoming - what a combination. Also, thanks to Leslie - so professional yet friendly - we called her our little fairy for so beautifully presenting and serving our breakfast yet melting into the background. Honestly, you must go! We had a ball and will definitely be back.

We stayed last month with 6 other friends at the Black Sheep Inn just outside of Orange. We had originally given one of the couples a gift voucher for a 60th Birthday. Having used the voucher they were so impressed they insisted that we have a weekend away. Now the Black Sheep Inn has another 3 couples who are equally impressed.
The accommodation consists of a refurbished Shearer's shed with 5 rooms all with ensuite and all very private. The shed is in the middle of a working farm. There is a sitting area by a fireplace with music facilities available , a large dining table for about 14 and another sitting area for relaxing. And on a sunny Autumn's day some balconies to soak up the warmth. TV's are confined to the room leaving common sitting areas for conversation and reading. Which is a good thing !
Helen Napier is your host and Helen is welcoming hospitable and in short delightful.
Breakfast woukd be the best I have had in a bed and breakfast type accommodation in NSW. on the first day figs to start followed by a poached egg on muffin, a small slice of bacon and some baby cherry tomatoes. On the second day a start with some beautiful poached pears followed by a blue cheese polenta with asparagus. and from local produce.
The rooms are comfortable witth views over the surrounding countryside which at this time of year is a mixture of Australian bush and the reds, yellows and oranges of deciduous trees and grapes.
And Orange itself is well worth the visit. a lovely old town. Great food and cafes. And of course a young but growing wine industry.
Our cost was $ 240 a night including breakfast. Great value for a superb experience.
We'll be back with more friends and so " Word of Mouth " works. Also the name of a vineyard about 15 minutes away.

Four of us stayed in the Whispering Moon cottage. It is beautifully set up and very comfortable especially with the roaring fire going. Helen left us a delicious breakfast, and there is a bbq on the verandah. Not far out of Orange this is a great place to stay either in the cottage or the amazing B&B

What a great place to stay, especially for a group! We had 5 couples in our group, and the consensus was this was an absolutely outstanding choice. From Helen's friendly and hospitable welcome to the delicious breakfast served both mornings of our stay, the Black Sheep Inn was outstanding. Attention to detail was superb, with every room being exceptionally clean and well appointed. The ambience created made the stay so comfortable and easy that we are already discussing our next visit. Having grown up on a sheep farm in rural NSW, I was so impressed with the clever way the shearing shed had been converted. It bought back many memories whilst we created new memories with friends during our stay. We will definitely be back!
