We received good service whilst staying here recently. The cottage was decorated in a warm and comfortable style. The kitchen was well stocked and the complementary breakfast items and bottle of wine were appreciated. Looking out over the vines and hearing the geese was very tranquil. To maintain a high standard of accommodation we’d suggest that the bathroom and kitchen (particularly oven) are updated in the next few years. The addition of a bath would also be a great idea, if possible.

I loved the look of this place on the internet, the cottage looks very comfortable but it actually was not value for money at all. We paid what I think was a premium price for the 2 bed Rose Cottage but upon arrival the cottage was clearly very run down. For the price I would have expected a somewhat renovated bathroom but the shower was in very poor state and toilet really needs replacing as most of the time it didnt even flush properly and was stained. The kitchen also needs renovating and cupboards/amenities were barely still holding together and appliances very basic. The TV just did not work at all as reception very poor, there were possums in the roof or walls that kept me awake for 2 of the 3 nights and the wicker furniture was not build for comfort, would have expected a comfortable lounge instead. Pretend fire not great as we were expecting a real fireplace. Beds comfortable and clean, bread, butter, jam and a bottle of wine a nice touch but didn't replace the downside. This place really needs a huge overhaul if owners keep expecting premium pricing. Oh and water from the tap was brown and no bottle water offered and we didn't even see anyone at the property at all to ask them to fix TV etc.

I refer to the above review by Clair ! I'm disappointed that she thought it was "run down" ! All I can say in this respect is travellers should refer to other reviews of Rose Cottage who appreciate it as an authentic farm cottage with character ! We were not informed about possums or the TV reception otherwise it would have been dealt with ! There is always someone on site! In addition to the wicker chairs in the sun-room, there happens to be a comfortable new sofa in the lounge room ! We do not believe that $250 per night is "premium" pricing for a whole cottage in a beautiful setting !

It has been glorious staying here at Rose Cottage in Mayfield Vineyard. The cottage is spacious and very cosy and with a good kitchen for self catering.
Each morning we hear the guinea fowl filing past the kitchen window and see the resident peacock.
Kathy our host is delightful and their wines for tasting are amongst the best in Orange.
It is located about ten minutes from the centre of Orange nestled in the beautiful countryside.
Well worth a visit.

Has the potential to be really nice but needs a bit of work. The cottages are a quite run down and not particularly clean and not what you would expect for the price.

We also had a strange experience regarding completing payment with an international credit card. The receptionist (Sophie) was helpful but unable to accept the card (for an unknown reason) so we asked if we could resolve it on checkout. The next day a white Amarok Ute was parked in the access way from the parking lot - effectively preventing us from leaving. The Ute mysteriously moved into one of the many vacant parking lots as soon as payment was made (make from that what you will).

Anyway its not somewhere we will be staying again and I hope the owners adjust their attitude and allow the place to live up to its potential

We have enjoyed two nights in the 'School house' Cottage which simply wonderful. Even the rain did not dampen our stay. Seemed that when we wanted to go out, the rain stoped and visa versa :-)
The kitchen is well set up for cooing or reheating.Continental breakfast ws lovely...the bread to die for!!! Complementary bottle of wine was greatly appreciated. The rooms, are very large and well appointed. TV works without issue and there are plenty of magazines. Wifi is faultless. Views over the dam and vineyard are just gorgeous.
We loved our stay and look forward to returning in 2021.

Firstly...the following comments didn’t take away from it being a good experience all in all. However...the cottage we stayed in and I know others who have stayed in different cottages...very run down however have a nice feel.

Back half of cottage was sinking and there was mould in the bathroom. The cottage wasn’t serviced daily. All of these things are fine if we weren’t paying $400 or more a night.

Grounds were nice. Owner was lovely. It’s Just important to know your paying a high price for cottages that are run down.

After careful consideration I have decided to post a review, not wanting to ruin the business but at the same time to be fair to future visitors it is necessary.

The place is beautiful with a lake and vineyard just across from the our cottage plus the lovely farm animals roaming freely. Our favourite was Ozzie, the very friendly old dog.

Unfortunately our stay was marred by the management’s poor attitude to a mouse found in one of our bedrooms. They were rude and condescending. In the end the mouse was left in the room and my boys had to sleep in the hall.
So if you don’t mind sharing your cottage with a ‘harmless’ mouse quoting the manager then please go ahead.

Dirty accommodation, frankly awful wine with hospitality to match. We were really looking forward to our stay however having to deal with Kathy the owner ruined it all, I wouldn't be surprised if Mayfield Vineyard appeared on a reality TV show. There are so many better places in Orange. Please don't make the mistake we made.

We stayed in one of the delightful onsite cottages. The decor was flawless and the grounds were delightful. This really is a fantastic place (very peaceful).

Unfortunately, we had just one issue. The price we were quoted (upon arrival) was different than when we booked it (through Stayz.com).
This issue (pay discrepancy) took much time to resolve with management and really tainted my stay at Mayfield.

Regrettably, due to this issue I will not be returning to Mayfield and would advise groups travelling to the cottages to explicitly confirm prices prior to travelling (in writing).

This one issue aside, it was a pleasant cottage in very pleasant surrounds.

I am intrigued & disappointed to read the review posted on the Settlers Cottage by one of the 4 guests who stayed there last week-end relating to a misunderstanding on the prices applying & how this was treated. The misunderstanding arose from a misinterpretaion of information on the Stayz website when the four guests believed they could hire a three bedroom cottage which sleeps 6 people for $200 per night when in fact an additional charge of $60 per night applies for each person staying in addition to a couple. This was explained at the time of booking & again made clear on arrival when credit card details were requested. There was a refusal to provide credit card details & a refusal to accept the position. Just prior to check-out, I once again explained the pricing structure which is clearly stated on the website & the reason for additional charges for additional people to cover housekeeping, laundry & additional services. However I stated that I did not wish to penalise them for a genuine misunderstansing and I waived the additional charges of $240 which we were quite entitled to make under our stated terms & conditions. Under the circumstances I thought we should at least be given credit for genorosity rather than be criticised ! It destroys my faith in human nature & sense of fairness!

We recently stayed at Mayfield in the settlers cottage. It is old but clean comfortable and cosy. It is self contained so you can cook for yourself, the kitchen is well stocked with utensils except there were no teaspoons. Breakfast was supplied....bread jam coffee and tea and Muesli . Check the supplies of sugar salt pepper etc as the sugar bowl was empty and although we requested more sugar it was not forthcoming. The toiletries were limited to shampoo and conditioner and soap. Not lotion or shower cap. Theses small limitations aside we loved our stay and enjoyed the farm yard atmosphere with the geese an other animals close by. We even had a morning vist from the owners beautiful dog Ozzie.
