The location is on the main street which is good, however the carpark is behind the pub/hotel in a back alley and did not feel safe or secure at all, with a few questionable people hanging around. The room itself was very small which was expected however the door and windows are paper thin and provide no sound proofing. As it's a pub, they emptied their bottles into a bin in the alley way which our window backed onto - this was extremely loud. The bins were then emptied at 4am on Saturday morning (assuming by council given it was a truck). The bathroom needs a refresh - paint was peeling and the shower could be cleaned better with dust on the ledge. For a 1 night stay it is fine with a heater/air con and TV. A fridge was also in the room which was really useful however no tea/coffee facilities were provide (no glasses or kettle).

Our room was at the end of the longest corridor we have ever encountered and along a cheap and badly laid carpet ,I suspect that most of the rooms are unliveable judging by the cheap and tacky renos on view.
Our room was so small ,Im glad we didnt bring a cat to swing ,it would have it every wall.
The decore ? is laughable ,battleship grey ceiling ,one wall very dark blue ,one white and everything else painted gloss black ,even the heater ,water pressure was non existent and the highlight? it was new years eve and we came back to the room just after 12 to find that the carpark spotlight was shining straight at our one and only window , not sort of not dimly but a SPOTLIGHT people and it stayed on all night ,OK new years eve and all that but we knew it was new years eve ,why didnt they know and put us in another room ? the hotel was virtually empty ,my theory is that they only have a couple of rooms that are habitable but I cant wait to hear the gushing reply from the owners.
Please ,please people ,be warned , do get seduced by the price ,there are plenty of other options and never never go near this place ,did I say never ?
Beautiful building but in the wrong hands ,stay away and leave them to their fantasy.

This hotel is part of a rather imposing structure that seems to be all things to all of Orange - function centre, bar, restaurant and a place to stay in the centre of town.

The price was pleasant, the room was obviously from an earlier time that had been spruced up but if you are just looking for a modest place to stay the small room and older feel won't trouble you. Given it has good access to several local eateries this is probably a good place for business travellers.

And it's across the road from Robertson Park which is a pleasant place for a stroll.

Good food, good parking, comfortable bed, which still didn't help a nights sleep. staff excellent, especially Bar and Bistro, but check-in man impatient and uninterested. (Benefit from a clean crisp white shirt.)Room was described as 'Boutique', even basic would have stretched a point. No glasses for a drink of water, ok were bottles of water
No clock, not everyone has technology,
No phone, ditto above. A handset at least to connect to someone in an emergency.
Windy night, wind howled and screamed all night, windows not sealed properly.,
No privacy, every sound from nearby rooms very clear. Every toilet flush, shower use very audible.
The place is like a 'rabbit warren'. Had to call on housekeeping staff, very sympathetic to the problem, to quote 'happens all the time.
Clear signage to exits/elevator would definitely help.
I had a close exit which I used once to end up in the garbage area. Lovely man said don't worry 'happens all the time'!
When exiting to car park encountered difficult steps ( I admit to 74, heart condition and broken vertebrae) Was terrified of falling but was relieved to make it safely to my car and leave your property in one piece.
Due to it's age, history and architectural appeal you must have more senior guests wanting to stay. But what a disappointment it must be for them. Accommodation access and lack of basics would be a disappointment I am sure.
My family has spent over 50 years in the Hospitality industry, in Hotels, Motels, Serviced apartments, Restaurants and catering. So I am speaking from a very long history of catering to those looking for - from very basic to high end accommodation.
Your staff are, I think, better than you deserve, except for one male receptionist who was not in least interested in my concerns. I found it very difficult to submit my initial concerns as I was unaware I needed to be a Trip Advisor member. However, hopefully I have been successful this time.
Just as a small aside, I spent the first night of my Honeymoon in your Hotel. When we showered the bedroon flooded and we paddled out. No Understanding was given on that occassion. Had hoped things had improved.
Would not hesitate to attend your Bistro or recommend it to friends. However never ever spend a night.

The bistro at the Canobolas was very disappointing. We were told the restaurant and its food had been renovated, but it was very ordinary. We heard the slow-cooked porchetta was good, so I ordered it. What arrived was two small, thin pieces of pork, with a credit-card sized (in total) amount of meat. Chips and gravy accompanied the meat, and the whole dish was cold to lukewarm. If the hotel wanted to lift their game to an attempt at gourmet cooking, stick to simple menu items, not dishes which are clearly beyond your capabilities.

Staff at the hotel were not interested in their clients. We stayed in a room facing the quadrangle. It is the noisiest room we have ever stayed in. The exhaust fan from the hotel’s restaurant blasted out there every day from lunch and dinner. It was like staying in an airport. Staff must experience complaints all the time and were unhelpful and not friendly. The hotel should not sell these rooms to the public or at least warn them that they will be hearing the noise from their kitchen exhausts for many hours each day.

When checking in there is no information or warning of a @ 1.5% fee for using a card, we then went to the room. On first appearance the room was nice but then, the room door wouldn’t self close as it was jamming at the top. The milk pods in the fridge were out of date. Had the worst night ever at a hotel with the noise of something that sounded like an industrial clothes dryer droning all night long.
The same not advertised fee was at all areas of the premises. Whilst at dinner the chair I was sitting on collapsed and other then a waiter rushing to get rid of the broken chair it took quite a while for a staff member to see if I was alright, that was only after my wife complained. Luckily I was OK.

The food was just awful. Nothing comes out with even a tiny bit of lettuce &tomato but a truck load of chips.
I watched many meals come out and the portion sizes were huge but quality is always better than quantity.
You can order a salad but I would prefer to pay a bit extra, cut back on the 5 buckets chips on the plate and put a tiny salad. You would get return customers. Never again. Wasn’t pleasant at all.

Yes we booked this as a last minute stay on a roadtrip as it was pretty much the only room available in Orange. Reception area and hotel public areas are very nice. Rooms are obviously in the process of being updated however key areas have been neglected. Our standard twin was COLD. Small air-con did NOTHING to heat the large area. TV aerial was not plugged in so unless I had gone looking to find the problem, would have had no TV. Beds were hard, lumpy and old - mattress dated 2005. One thin doona in Orange on a winter night with ineffective heater is NOT enough. Bathroom OK - tarted up and clean. Carparking available in public carpark at rear of hotel. Not secure. No breakfast available on site however walking distance to any number of local cafes.

We spent two nights is this neat and tidy pub, the rooms we’re small by adequate with heating, bar fridge with daily free bottles of water and a nice hot shower with amazing water pressure.
The rooms are nothing to rave about but also nothing to complain about. Good value for money!
The pub it’s self has an amazing restaurant, the pizza are one of the best wood fire pizzas I’ve ever had.
Will happily stay here again on my next visit
