Detailed Reviews
We stayed here for a brief overnight visit. The hotel itself is in a really well converted building and the rooms are perfectly acceptable standard hotel rooms. It is a short walk to the tram and most of Newcastle CBD is easily accessible.
The only thing to be aware of is that the only secured parking is paid parking - for some reason this is _not_ noted on their website, unlike sister properties like Quest Newcastle. There is free street parking outside peak hours.

The good parts; The location of the Quest (West) is ideally positioned of access to the Light Rail and Train terminal. The are some fantastic bars and places to eat all along the newly developed forshore with new places openning by the week. The reception staff are welcoming and alwaly willing to asisst. The whole place is spotlessly clean** and the rooms are very spacious.
The not so good parts; You cannot book secure parking so if the in-house parking is full then you are directed to use the local TAFE car park which is a few streets away, badly lit at night and not a single CCTV camera in the area. **On arriving i did have an issue with some ladies hygiene products which had been left in the bathroom bin, having notified reception they where very quick to act. They even offered to switch rooms but i was happy for them to remove the contents of the bin plus they even left a complementary bootle and nibbles as an apology. A word of caution if you are intending to walk at night along Hunter St towards the foreshore / main town, you will pass through a couple of areas have yet to be developed and it does contain a few seedy places and characters to go with it.

We stayed recently at the Quest Newcastle West. What they have done to an old building is amazing. The character of the old has been incorporated into the new build with exposed beams throughout the complex. Everything was sparkling clean, very quiet although a little noise could be heard from the hotel across the road one night and in a good location. Parking is either street side or you can pay to park your vehicle on the grounds. Easy walking distance to restaurants along the foreshore for breakfast or dinner. Will definitely return.

This has bee my second stay under this brand and I plan to continue using it as much as possible around Australia - heading next to Hobart! Has a brilliant way of blending old buildings with the most up to date / modern expectations of a traveller. And, in providing kitchenettes and laundry facilities is generous about providing equipment and material (like soap powder) for free. The only concern is that parking is not always available although the reception staff have been at pains to sort that issue out. Lovely service, thank you and highly recommended.

We had a fantastic stay at Quest West Hotel. The apartment was clean and there was ample space for all four of us. The beds were so comfortable. We all slept so well. The rooms to other guests were well spaced out, so we did not feel cramped in with other guests despite the hotel being full. The ceiling beams in the hotel added to an aesthetic charm that we all love. Fantastic Stay! We will come again.

Stayed for one night in a one bedroom apartment.
Location is fairly central but slightly out of the way so parking is easy and there’s not as much noise.
Check in fine, was contacted the day before to be given info on parking and asked if we needed anything. Parking on the street was available and right outside our room so we opted for that over paying for non secured parking on the premises.
The room itself was clean and a decent size. A full size kitchen and a nice bathroom and bedroom.

large room with very comfy bed and neat arrangement for workspace and kitchenette. Staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. There was a gym to use and the central location was great, as I could go for exercise around the harbour feeling safe and enjoying the views.

Well recommended for the accessible location (across the road from Newcastle Interchange station) and functionality of the room (apartment style with cooking utensils, electric stove top and microwave), but rather lacking in character and general amenities. The "courtyard" of the hotel is used as the parking lot, so there is not much greenery. Also the common areas could use a splash of color and decoration, instead of a vending machine which I found a bit depressing.
I happened to get the unenviable room position on the ground floor next to the sidewalk, so this added to my dismay. And the checkout time is 10 AM, which doesn't give you much time to go to Darby St for breakfast and coffee, or a final stroll on the beach. But maybe when the Newcastle West's new hub is completed, there would be more options for cafes and restaurants nearby, too. All things considered, this hotel was fully booked over the NSW long weekend earlier this month, so it is definitely a popular choice, particularly for families.

Staff are very friendly and the rooms are neat and clean BUT the apartment is located immediately across the road from the live music venue the Cambridge Hotel and if they have a gig on you won’t be getting much sleep. We were pleasantly told by reception when I enquired at check in if our room would be impacted by the Cambridge Hotel gig that “we won’t hear a thing” - however our fillings are Currently being shaken out by some serious live music sound.
I love live music, but I love my sleep more and I won’t be returning to Quest Newcastle West.

This was a great choice for a family trip. With no balcony to worry about, there was lots of room for the children. The property is well located, and we loved walking around Newcastle and using the light rail. Staff were friendly. The gym was small, but quiet and we'll equipped. It was spotlessly clean, and we loved the surprise of an ensuite in our two bedroom apartment. The washing machine and dryer was very handy as a large family
