Do not be fooled by the photos that they use to advertise their properties. The photos were definitely not accurate. We arrived to find a derelict premises, but decided to give them the benefit of the doubt in the hopes that the inside of the apartment was what was advertised - it was not.
We arrived at the door to the apartment to find a disgusting dirty nappy hanging from the tree next to the door. Broken plastic toys, rubbish and waste in the gardens and around the patio area.
Upon entering, we were greeted with the strong overwhelming smell of chemicals and air freshener. The walls were dirty and stained, the floors were so sticky our shoes stuck to them - no way were any of us taking our shoes off!
When checking the rooms we found disgustingly stained bed linen and pillows, beds that may as well have been concrete blocks for how comfortable they were. No cupboard doors, a dirty kitchen and questionable bathrooms. There was no way in hell I was allowing my children to step foot in there let alone sleep in this pit.
When we called to complain, my husband was immediately put on hold and left there. We had to hang up and call back to get someone to speak to us. Their initial suggestion was to send someone around to tidy a bit more and offer us a small percentage discount off of our stay. We refused and demanded a refund because there was no way in hell that a quick tidy up could save this situation.

Worst accommodation ever, one step up from a drug den. Second floor had sash windows with no screens that were open, blood splatters on the back of the bathroom door. Torn lounge suites that looked like dogs beds and wouldn’t look out of place on a rednecks front porch, nail polish spilled throughout the apartment. Unserviceable lock on sliding door, broken glass and glitter on the floor, discarded toiletry packaging on the floor under the vanity in bathroom. Kids drawings on most walls and blinds, kids stickers half peeled off on the wall in the master bedroom. Oven was to grotty to even touch, we purchased new mugs to have coffee. The only highlight was our car still having all four tyres and no smashed windows on our departure.

After being a loyal returning customer to blue gum apartments for the past 6 years taking two apartments a visit I've noticed not only the room conditions but the cleanliness factor drop very considerably to the point I feel the need to review to warn people of what they are about to book.
After checking in we were treated to filthy apartments that were just cleaned with a broken shower and broken but cleaned cup in the cupboards and no bathroom floor mats having to use a towel and wash it daily.
Dirty marks on walls carpets and kitchen bench,including floor tiles with bad beds you can't get comfortable in.
2 nights in a row fire alarms randomly going off for no reason is also a inconvenience.
No smoke alarms in common areas is a massive fire risk, infact they are on the floor missing batteries broken...
The best part is when you goto call to complain and the fellow gives you attitude obviously because it's not the 1st phone call he's had in relation to similar experiences and then continued to pass the buck onto strata management out of his control.. Pathetic
If your thinking of staying here, do yourself and your hip pocket a huge favour and disregard this place as your well earned money is not respected or obviously wanted here and after 6 years of using this place we will not be returning.

Not impressed with the housekeeping. Booked 4 days over the Christmas weekend. The apartment smelled musty, the aircon was not working, floor cleaning solution filled in the dishwashing bottle, dirty oven and the beds had sand over the sheets. Had to call the main office twice to get the aircon fixed with the usual excuse of holidays affecting repairs. Have emailed on our displeasure and will be cautious when booking with Blue Gum again

Upon arrival we had to clean the floor as there were shards of glass, dust, crumbs and hair in the living/dining/kitchen area. The oven was unusable due to how dirty it was. The apartments could do with an upgrade. Also need to focus their attention to things like, ensuring there are working batteries in all remotes, ensuring there is enough cutlery, dishes and cookware for a family to use (replace pieces that are missing).

What appears to be a new and modern apartment from the outside was then to be the opposite inside. Starting with the stairwell which was filthy and covered in cigarette ash. The apartment was very dirty. Beds had not been moved and vacuumed under in a very long time. The balcony was disgusting and required shoes to walk on. The ironing board foam covering was completely wrotten and crumbled all over the floor. The smoke detectors were hanging out of the ceiling. On a positive note the linen was clean. Very noisy being next to a busy road.

I spent / endured 2 nights here for business. After having a terrible and unsafe experience across the highway at the Jesmond Villas a couple of weeks prior, I asked not to be booked into the same area (...my client was making the booking on my behalf) again. Unfortunately they just booked me in here.
The remote checkin process worked well and I got into my room. There was enough parking and the fact that there was a security entrance to get into the foyer for the block was an added benefit.
The room itself was actually an apartment that was a fairly decent size. (2 x bedrooms, 1 x bathroom, kitchen, and large lounge/dinning area). Thats about were the good points end unfortunately. The apartment was dirty and in need of repairs and refurb...although it didn't seem that old. The beds were flimsy and uncomfortable with various stains on the top sheet. There was a dirty used bandage on the shelf of the wardrobe. Half the lights didn't work and the living areas didn't get much natural light. The lounge was grubby but kind of OK. The towels were so worn that they were paper thin and mostly useless.
DO NOT STAY at any place in Jesmond. Although not the fault of the property managers directly, the location is very undesirable. After having to call the police when I stayed at the other local accomodation a few weeks earlier, I was a little concerned about staying here again. This time, when I arrived back at the accomodation from dinner by Uber, I was greeted by 5 police cars and a large group of police officers in the front driveway and car park. I was told that I would have to wait out on the street until they had dealt with whatever was going on at the accomodation. About 15 mins later I was allowed in.
In addition, there is nowhere to eat within the immediate area, so you will need to travel into Newcastle to find anywhere decent to eat.
Do yourself a favour and don't stay here or anywhere in Jesmond. There are so many better places within Newcastle.

I stayed here for two nights. furniture in the lounge area was sparse. The traffic noise was terrible seeing you have main roads on 2 sides of the building with no sound barrier and the entry door to the building sounded like a car crashing every time it closed making it near impossible to get any sleep at all. There's no secure parking. The beds were very comfortable. The shower was either hot or cold but nothing in between. There were little cockroaches everywhere. The pics that are shown on the website are very nice compared to the real thing.

We booked this apartment at Blue Gum Apartments for one night to stay to see our daughter who is now living in Newcastle. All the above review relates to Blue Gum. Spoke to the lady on the phone to get into the room and very rudely she told us we need to call last minute. Com and get a refund as it is only student accomodation. Disgusting customer service. There was nothing mentioned on last minute.com about this. Very kindly Executive Villas in Jesmond supplied us with a room for the night.

Omg where do I start with this review?! My parents and I travelled to Newcastle for an overnight stay and we were greeted by the first security door wedged open using a fire extinguisher 🧯 We walked up the grotty stairs that has all sorts of unknown food articles on it and arrived at our room. The code worked to get in (so that’s a tick!). Believe me, I need to give this place the opportunity for a tick, no matter how small because there will not be many!! Anyway, we entered a rather dodgy and unclean apartment where the curtains were falling off their rails to escape and the sliding doors were wide open. Upon inspection, we found the former guests had left us some food in the fridge - stale milk, chocolate, cheese and soft drink. As kind as it was, we refrained from consuming these items 🥴 We found toilet paper under the bathroom sink that must have been there since pre Covid as it was growing its own bacteria 🦠 all over it. The oven had left over burnt offerings from who knows how long ago, there was something special wrapped up and tossed into the bottom drawer of the bathroom that we left 🤢 Incidentally, this drawer was broken. There was only one bowl so we had to toss a coin to see who was able to use it. I actually didn’t care that I lost!!! We had to wash the dishes before we used any of them and also purchase dish cloths so that we could give the apartment a clean. 🧼 🧽 It was only then that I felt I could sit on the couch and read the reviews, which in hindsight, we should have done before booking. As the purpose of our stay was for me to graduate 👩🏻🎓 at the uni, I was relying on a few items - the hairdryer and an iron and ironing board. I could see where the hairdryer should have been and there was an ironing board but the cover must have decided to clear off along with the DVD player, the back cover to the tv remote and sanity. I had to iron my shirt with my hair straightener. I always give credit where credit is due and the shower pressure and heat was perfect, even if I did wear plastic bags on my feet in case I caught something! My dad agrees with me re the shower. However, my mum does not agree as she had to have a cold shower 🚿 🥶 Also, when I hung my towel on the towel rail, it landed on the floor, along with the rail. By this stage, I was actually really disappointed as many of the reviews for these apartments mentioned cockroaches 🪳 and we had not seen any. I did not have to wait too long and we did get to see Mr C Roach! 🪳 He made his way across the kitchen wall and I realized that all the other reviews were right!! One of the last things we had to do was brush our teeth. I did not have any issues with this and I had good water pressure. However, it seems my mum is cursed as when she went to rinse her mouth, there was no water!!! The tap had shut up shop and left the building!!! ‘No worries’, I said, we still had the kitchen sink. But that was no longer working either. 🤔😐 This meant that there was only one flush for the toilet... we decided to let dad have this one flush. 💩 Would I recommend this place? Um...absolutely not!!! If I can’t share photos here, feel free to message me!! Speaking of photos - the tech team at Bluegum Apartments have incredible photoshop skills as I didn’t recognise one single thing in our apartment!!! Even the colours on the beds disappeared from the room!!! 😂😂😂
