The hotel is located adjacent to the waterfront and is a short walk from the light rail. Everything was very clean and the staff were polite and friendly. Our room was a good size and perfectly satisfactory for our needs. The hotel has a bar and dinning facilities. There are also a number of bars and restaurants very close by. There is an outside pool area which was clean and tidy. We consider the hotel to be good value for money. Our only complaint was that you could not get a coffee after 9.30 pm - but things tend to close early in Australia !!

Dear Shraddhas765, Thank you so much for the wonderful review following your recent stay with us at Rydges Newcastle. It is always great hearing of the service our teams have delivered, and I am so pleased you enjoyed the hotel outlets and facilities. Our valet service is a great service for our guests and very convenient with the limited the parking options available in the cbd area. I look forward to welcoming you back on your next visit to Newcastle. Kind Regards. Reece.M

This review is about the restaurant .Utter disgrace made a reservation 3 days in advance for the seafood lunch . When we arrived they couldn’t find the reservation ,we were made to feel like we were not telling the truth. When I showed them the number in my phone they were like sorry .No apology at all We were made to feel unwanted with the staff talking amongst themselves as to what to do .Eventually the waiter came back and said ( we have enough seafood to do it. ) So we asked to order a glass of wine and a Campari spritz . Easy oh no the wine arrived and so did a pimm’s when I explained to the waiter he told us it was a Campari spritz even though it was brown🙀He went away and another waiter came and I said we ordered a Campari spritz .Next came in a tumbler type glass what he said was a Campari spritz . When I asked where was the slice of orange He ; very rudely said he doesn’t put a slice of orange in . We at this stage we’re getting quiet frustrated with the lack of service and knowledge. And all the time made to feel we were in the wrong ,! Faulty towers we would call Rydges restaurant .We decided to leave and go elsewhere . Don’t bother to try as the staff have no idea what they are doing .We expect the food to be just as bad as the service !!!!!!!!

Hi Phillip, Thank you for the feedback. I am very sorry that your experience left you feeling underwhelmed. I have checked with the team and they confirmed that they did not have a record of your booking, my apologies. Our standard booking procedures involve ensuring an email confirmation for our guests. My apologies that this did not happen in your case. I will be reinforcing the need for the team to follow procedure when taking bookings for the restaurant. With regard to the Campari spritz, I have spoken to the team members on duty and they acknowledge the miscommunication around your drink order and the subsequent lack of attention to detail. We are disappointed that you didn’t get to experience the sort of food and service that we aim to and typically do deliver and we would love to have the opportunity to do so. If you would like to connect direct please contact myself at the hotel anytime that suits you. Thank you again for the feedback, I do hope we have the opportunity to have you join us for the dining experience you had hoped for. Kind regards, Stuart Myers Food & Beverage Manager

The swimming pool, the view and the breakfast are awesome. The rooms are old and there is very low water pressure in the shower which was a bit disappointing. The reception staff were nice but one guy over there was rude. I would definitely come back there when I am next in Newcastle.

Fabulous location. Seriously? Can’t get any better. Staff? Fabulous too. Hence, the 3 stars. The actual hotel is tired and sad. We’ve been coming here since it was Accor, through Crown and now, Rydges. Can’t command $400 a night. No matter how good the location is- and not renovate hotel. ( over 20 years) Needs a completed overhaul. Atm worth about same as Noah’s $250-$270 a night. Hopefully with Terminus and Little National hotel opening, you’ll get real with your pricing 👌🏽 or renovate

Hotel- It was absolutely fabulous stay. We are seriously writing this review. The hotel is an amazing place to stay. The swimming is the biggest highlight of all. Kids just loved it for three days. The slide adds a great feature n I think you have won the love of all families from there on. Hotel, must opt some free carpark option for guests e.g.. may be 3hr free carpark, park in valet for 15$ per night on weekends....as car parking is quite an issue around new castle. Food and beverage- The food I will be very honest here, It's a wait from the kitchen. Our meals, our dessert took around 40mins time wait. The restaurant wasn't busy, so I think waiting 40mins for meals is long. All the other days we had the same issue with kids meals. But, on the other side I give all meals 5 star, n again no jokes the presentation of food, quantity, portion size, taste of the food was absolutely a big hit. If we ever drive pass the hotel we would definitely stop for meals, it was worth. Kids meals, dessert and main meals all of them were so yum. Well done. Rooms- were good, neat, housekeeping staff so nice that they must get appreciated. Next time we will be booking a suite room as we would require a bigger room. Towels were fresh daily.

Hello Deepak, It reads like you enjoyed every moment of your time with us. You have highlighted a few things which we will provide a response on. Regarding parking, we have limited spots and operate on a "first come, first served" nature. There are multiple options surrounding the hotel, including the on street parking (Metered between 9am and 5pm Monday - Friday) and a Wilson car park down the road. These options are available to everyone but as you noted, there is still limited spots available. The wait time from the kitchen is something we have received a lot of feedback regarding and is a target area for us. We are so pleased you enjoyed your time with us, and are willing to return so eagerly. Looking forward to seeing you again soon,

The booking was for three adult but the room was set up for two adults only. Every amenities including the bed was just arranged for two adult. I requested for extra pair of slip ons, robe and bed but it never arrived. Balcony was locked which we were not given prior information. It was my first experience with Rydges which ended up not meeting the expectation.

Hi Suraj, Thank you for leaving your review for us. Our rooms can be set up for 3 adults wanting single beds upon request. We would separate these for you and allocate specific rooms to accommodate your needs. Please contact us when your next booking is made so we can arrange these changes. Our balconies are currently part of a set of renovations taking part soon and as such have been locked for guest safety, however we will be following up our concierge regarding completing guest requests as this should have been attended to. We hope to have you stay with us again soon, when we will most definitely smash any expectations you have of us and our hotel. Kind Regards,

Nice getaway celebrating our 30th Wedding anniversary. Friendly staff greeted us on arrival , housekeeping and valet parking was excellent. Beautiful view of Newcastle harbour in a spacious and clean room and bathroom. Bed was also very comfortable too. Loved the buffet breakfast with plenty to choose from and also a view hard to beat. We enjoyed a few cocktails at the bar which had a pleasant atmosphere in the afternoon. Rydges went to over and above to make our stay wonderful with a nice surprise of sparkling wine in our room on arrival to celebrate our anniversary. Even though the hotel was busy with holiday makers I found there was plenty of staff and the hotel ran smoothly. Based on this visit I would definitely recommend the hotel and will be coming back in the near future.

We loved staying at Rydges. The staff were incredibly helpful, polite and friendly. The car parking with the concierge was so easy, the pool was fabulous but the giant awkward climb into the spa bath to have a shower was not ideal for us. Perhaps this needs to be looked into as an 80s/90s trend is now superseded by walk in showers. Other than that we really had a great time. Thanks Rydges
