POSITIVES: loads of info about tours and local activities / where to go locally. We stayed in a 4 bed female dorm which was nice and clean and had big lockers. Lovely big clean common area with comity sofas and wifi. good bathroom / showers upstairs. Felt safe and clean. Free surfboards and body boards for hire. NEGATIVES: wifi didn't...

$4/Hour to park your car, windows that face onto the street that gets EXTREMELY noisy with drunks, people arguing and slamming doors in the corridors and yelling and swearing and just when you get back to sleep, the guy comes back and tries to serenade the woman he fought with. 7am garbage truck outside the windows. The bunk beds are...

This hostel is clearly in an old building and I understand that due to this some facilities cannot be applied. The rooms were extremely hot, only offering one fan between four people. The reception area seemed to be a mess and unorganised. The toilets were filthy all the time (use the disabled one around the corner) the kitchen facilities were...

The hostel is pretty dirty, no aircondition in rooms,so it was very hot at night. The only good thing is that it's near the beach and that there are lockers in each room. The staff is pretty nice. Usually YHA is better, but this one is just very dirty unfortunately. They have many tour offers aswell!

Nice place, close to the beach and public transport. Staff very friendly and helpful. Large kitchen and clean amenities. Mattress and bedding need replacing urgently - old and stained. Good place for children to stay. Worth the money, if you can get it cheaper than high season prices.

We stayed here for one night, in a double room which was large and pretty clean but very old fashioned and a little musty. You take the sheets down when you check out but not the duvet which makes me skeptical on cleanliness. We noticed a few weird stains on it but luckily it was warm enough we just used...

Stayed here two nights and absolutely loved it! Nice staff, nice people. Free surfboards and really close to the ocean and boogey hole. Best Christmas feeling to! A bit expensive but all hostels in Newcastle are. There are one small grocerystore really close, otherwise 10 minutes free bus to Woolworths/Coles.

While this is a conveniently located hostel its residents are young and immature. I found their rudeness and overall behavior to be less than desired. There seems to be a total disregard for personal belongings among roommates. My space was small by comparison from the last hostel I stayed at. That space was made smaller by the lack of organization...

Stayed there for one night and got nothing to complain about it. The bedroom was ok, there was a bathroom in it plus a few shared bathrooms outside. There's a nice vintage lounge. The kitchen is good, the staff was really friendly. They had surfboards to hire for free, they let us store out luggage there during the day for...
