My bed was fine, and the unit had a full sized fridge. They have filled in the pool, so don’t come expecting a cool dip, but I would stay here again. Staff, if you are reading this, the cold tap in the bathroom needs the washer replaced. Our room was made up daily too.
Unlike most garden variety best westerns, our motel room had a small semi private patio out the back accessed by a sliding glass door, and a separate sink from the bathroom, with a toaster, microwave, electric jug. and some cutlery.
Also adjacent to the pool area, which is about 10 meters from room 37, is a gas barbeque area (free) and some tables and chairs for eating what you made on the barbeque ~ all of which is not usually found in your land greedy small city motels.
A good room. Comfortable beds..
Pity no reading lights by the beds.
wifi was erratic. Shut off after a small period of inactivity...
Checkout 10:00 am.
Queen and a king single $130.00
It is what it is....3 stars plus.

When I called the reception, I was told there was a sofa bed and if I pulled it out it should have sheets on it. The staff came to the villa and the sofa was opened, ejecting a number of crumbs, half eaten chips and an old drink bottle covered on cobwebs. The sheets were on the sofa bed, but from when?
I just slept in my clothes on top of the sheets and showered in the morning.
The person who had been on reception was quite dismissive suggesting the problem was because we booked on line. ( why be on booking.com if it's not ok to book on line?). If we didn't like it, we could get a refund and go somewhere else ( at 9pm on a Saturday).
But to add some balance, if there had been a separate room as in the photo on the website and the bed had been made up and not filled with what had fallen down the back of the couch, then it might not have been too bad. It was clean, quiet and good enough for a one night stay. But not for $150 a night in Newcastle.
The pictures do match the rooms, they are that clean and tidy. Our room was comfortable and well appointed.
The hosts were lovely and accommodating when asked about possibly having to stay a second night, there were going to make it happen (fortunately we didn't need to but the offer was there).
I would recommend anyone headed to Newcastle to stay at the Travellers Inn
This is not a clean motel and to be a Best Western is a complete joke.
The property is badly run down, filthy and as others have commented on and cockroaches is an understatement, they were in our room everywhere, I woke up to one on my arm while I was asleep.
The room smelt, packet of empty nuts under our bed, (I dropped my ring and bent down to pick it up and saw under bed), I would assume under beds would be checked, bathroom floor had a P hair on it
The pool looked green so did not swim in it.
Overall THUMBS DOWN, and as the title suggests "dont bother".
Driving from Sydney I had not booked a room so called the property along the way, the Receptionist could not be more helpful and I secured a booking.
After booking I went onl;ine and read through some of the reviews and thought Oh My what am I in for, the previous reviews could not be further from truth, sorry past reviewers.
I arrived to a warm smile from the receptionist, same lady I spoke to about the booking on the way up, went straight to room.
The room was a great standard, perhaps I was given a different room, it was immaculate, throughly clean and I must admit I was pleasantly delighted, had all the mod cons I required, nice flat screen TV, moden bathroom and comfortable bed.
I had no insects in my room, perhaps as the owners stated the Pest Control Company had been but I certainly saw or had no pests in my room.
Had dinner at a local restaurant which i must say was superb, beautifully presented and taste was the same as some major 5 star Syd restaurants.
This property does not serve breakfast however there is an option to get a breakfast pack or go accross the road to another property they own, Citigate Motel, which serves a hot breakfast every morning, I choose neither as my stomach was still recovering from the 3 course meal I enjoyed last night.
Checked out with the same friendly smile and drove off.
I detailed all this because after reading all the previous reviews I thought perhaps some may have been a little too harsh on their reviews, I had no problems at all and I would return anyday to the Best Western Travellers Motor Village.
Its very easy to knock motels when they do the incorrect thing but not many say positive things about them, all i know is when I left i was one happy Customer, well done Travellers.
