Detailed Reviews
We stayed in a one bedroom apartment with a lovely comfy bed. Other than kitchen utensils being a bit light on, the apartment was just what we needed with eateries all around, an enjoyable walk along the harbour foreshore and a short drive to the beach. Reception staff were exceptional. Secure parking underneath for an additional cost or parking across the road.

Apartment was nice with all the facilities required and stocked full of kitchen appliances, laundry etc. Room was clean. No noise, close to cafes and restraunts.
Electronic room cards were a pain. Took multiple attempts to get through doors (was told about it on check in). Cards had to be swiped multiple times to get at exactly the right speed to work. Sometimes 20 or 30 attempts.

Always a good quality hotel, clean, roomy and modern and free WiFi.
Plenty of space and good work desk. Plenty of restaurants and bars near by.

Check in was meant to be 2pm, hadn’t been provided with check in details, called them at 3:30 pm and details provided. Arrived to the apartment at 4:30 to find that the rooms had not been cleaned/serviced, called Newcastle executive apartments who did not offer to escalate the clean, we advised we would go for a swim while we waited no problems. Then to find out nope pool was green with sludge and we were not advised of this at booking. Rooms still hadn’t been serviced by 5:30pm and with little kids who go to be at 7pm we were running out of time so requested a refund. The refund was so hard to get and management promised was occurring right away so we were not out of pocket. Nope this was not right either, received a message 2 days later advising of the like. They are meant to put a hold on account but actually withdrew the $150 bond and is refusing to refund. 4 days on and I’ve been told they will have a look at the room refund only but no promises as to when the money would go in. Management so rude, not compassionate and would not listen to anything I had to say, kept talking over top and cutting me off. Newcastle executive apartment have many apartments over Newcastle therefore I would look into who your booking with prior to staying, was such a horrible and traumatic experience for our 8 and 3 year old.

Where to begin, on arrival learned that their mobile key access app does not work for a majority of people, Sent to a room that used the mobile app, which wouldn't work.
At this point they changed us to a room with a coded door, the door code they gave us was incorrect, went back to the staff at the counter, where we were given another code to try.
On the second day I opened my phone to find that three accounts had been hacked into through their Wifi network.
Also spotted a repairman throwing a customers keys into the planter outside from a fifth floor window, watched as he went down and tried to retrieve them, he took off when I called out at him.
I then returned the keys to reception, where they denied it happened even though I watched it happen. I've worked in a static security guard position 20 years, I know what he was doing.
It was organised for us to extend our stay one week, but with a week to go staff stormed in stating we were not meant to be there. Their organisation skills are terrible. The managerial side seems to have a communication problem with the staff
The lies: 4 1\2 star..... No I've stayed in many it would likely be 2 1\2 star in Sydney or Melbourne
No Wifi timeouts, it times out at 3 am
Gym inaccessible
Pool inaccessible
Disabled friendly rooms, No it was not at all
Zero security (this one baffled me, as I've worked security in similar buildings) and by God they NEED security
I will literally advise everyone I know to avoid like the plague

On our arrival we were assigned to a room on the 3rd floor and on approach could realised the whole floor smelt like deep fried food. When we opened the door to our room, we were overwhelmed by the smell of seafood. It smelt like a fish shop. It took 3 attempts to find us a reasonable replacement room. The next day we got to meet the other guests out the front, (some in their pjs) due to a fire alarm going off. It was then that we realised that there were no stairs between floors and it was impossible to get back to our room if the lifts were not working for any reason. We also realised the next day that our kitchen exhaust fan was not working and our toast set off the fire alarm, even though I had the doors and windows open. I wondered if this was the cause of fire alarms going off in other rooms. We were told by other guests that their sliding door did not open. There were many other maintenance issues that needed attention but a lot of the problems were due to planning. There was no place to put toiletries in the bathroom and the toilet was so close to the shower that my thighs almost touched the screen. Not good for anyone larger than a 12-14 size.
The space between the wall and the bed was also small. About 30cm. We had to turn sideways to get in and out of the room. There was also no place for luggage in the bedroom and we had to access it in the living area. I couldn't wait to move to Rydges, which was cheaper and better value.

Dear LenBen62, Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. We are sorry to hear that your stay with us did not meet your expectations on this occasion. While some of the issues you have mentioned are out of control, it does sound like there is some room for us to improve with regards to room maintenance and we will follow up on these issues. Your experience is certainly not what our guests have to come to expect and while we understand your disappointment, we hope that you will stay with us again in the future.

The pools and gym are closed because they are under construction. This was not communicated at all to us or on the website. This may seem small but it was one of the reasons we picked this hotel. Not to mention its fairly expensive for no access to these amenities. Our room was not cleaned from the last person (which was rectified by the lovely cleaners) just inconvenient because I'd rather arrive later than have to wait after you have just come from a long drive. Also parking is $20 a night and you have to hand our your card details over the phone to pay.
When we rang and spoke to management they were short and kind of didn't want to accept any complaints. We were basically told there was nothing they could do. Hope the next person has a better stay.

I am DISGUSTED. Do NOT book here with this hotel. The service was APPAULING. We had a booking 2 months in advance and have just arrived to be told they have cancelled the rooms and not informed ANYONE. Great job Chifley you have ruined a 21st. We were offered NO alternative accommodation or any help what so ever. Please do not give this hotel the business. 🤬

Check in delayed 2 hours due to our room being trashed by previous occupants (NYE party). Dead cockroaches in drawers/cupboards. 36 hour Total Power failure with management refusing refunds due to "Act of God" - how about you brush up on consumer law before you start quoting clauses short term rental agreements mate... The afternoon in mid summer, slept in 29 degrees with a toddler and no hot water as the pilot light obviously went out... 0/5 stars. Happy for people to contact me here to confirm details.

We were booked for 7 nights with our 4 year old daughter as we had house renovations and needed to be out of home, while still going being able to go to work. Not only was the apartment filthy, but it had a namesake kitchen (we could’ve gone to a hotel but needed a kitchen as it was a working week, our daughter was going to be in the apartment through the day with the Nanny visiting to look after her), not enough cups/glasses for even the 3 of us. We had to go buy a knife as the kitchen didn’t have one, a tiny as bench with no space to keep a pot. The spare blanket had hair in it, the shower area was dirty, walls were smeared with stains that I’m sure could be cleaned off. On our second day we had a random pair of men walk in to the apartment on my daughter and Nanny, in the middle of the day, as they were told it was their room, and clearly the entry code worked for them.
There was no one at the reception at all, not even during business hours, apparently due to COVID19. The air conditioning barely worked. We eventually left on the 3rd day and had to move to a hotel, we figured we couldn’t cook much in the apartment anyway and it was too dirty and hot for our comfort.
Wouldn’t ever go back, wouldn’t recommend it unless they had a complete makeover of management and services.

It is easy to access at night - there are a lot of cafes/ restaurants/ bars in the area - I have walked there around 1030/1100 at night and felt ok - it's personal choice if you do unescorted, hope this helps
