We stayed here on 4th Septemebr, in a Corporate Queen Room with Kitchenette for one night on our way to Broken Hill. The accommodation was very clean and tidy, bed was comfy and having the sofa lounge was a bonus to sit and watch TV. The shower was super hot and had great pressure. The kitchenette was good to having a microwave, toastre kettle and fridge. Although we didnt use it as we were only there one night would come in handy for most. Although it was my first time staying here my husband always pick the Matilda Motor Inn when staying in Dubbo for work and i can see why. Great clean affordable accommodation close to cafes restaurants pubs and clubs

Called very late in the night after having to rush a relative to the Emergency Dept at Dubbo base, some 2 hours drive from home, and electing to stay the night. I tried a few other motels first (randomly picking motel names from my google search) to be met by scoffs and indignation that I hadn’t booked earlier.
Not Michael at the Matilda Motor Inn though. He was fully booked with his standard rooms but took the time to ask me about my needs and situation. He was understanding and although we ideally needed two rooms for 3 people, he made a 3 bedroom unit available for us at a very reasonable rate. It worked out perfectly for us and it was close to midnight when he still managed to supply bottled water and enquire about everyone’s well being. That’s going above and beyond in my book.
Thank you Michael. Highly recommended.

I would have given this place a 5 had partnered been situated in a good place and if customer service was a service. The entire property is tired and need updates with paint and interior furnitures in the restaurant area. We booked the executive 2 bedroom apartment which was located around the back of the property which mean you had to drive out turn left then left again into a one way alley and second drive way. The apartment has a kitchen with no stove top, it has contemporary design from early 2000s but the bed were so comfortable! It was reasonably clean, don’t forget our milk when you check in cause even though you have residential fridge in the apartments they keep milk at reception. One room had a double bed and second room had a double bed in the middle of the room then a single bed to the right and another to the left of the double bed. Toilet is separate to the show room which was great, washer and dryer is well kept in a European style cupboard in the kitchen. It is upstairs and probably wouldn’t stay there with toddlers. No access from reception area to these apartments by car but there is a walk way from apartments to the pool which is smack bang in the middle of the car park our front of the restaurant and reception. Pool is a good size abs pool towels we discovered down there light brown tan ones so don’t bring the room towels down. Property is well situated in Dubbo and plenty of take away, fast food and petrol station within walking distance .

The room we had was tiny but the bed was comfortable. The booklet in the room said wi-fi "ticket" available from receiption, when asked I was abruptly told "it is on the key tag" Well all that is on the key tag was "reviewme". No indicatation it is a password. Not mentioned at check-in so let's get the in-room informatiom booklet up to date. The door locks have been changed however the "Do Not Disturb" sign provided cannot be hung. Housekeeping knocked on the door at 9.30 on a Sunday morning (we were not checking out until the next day). When we left a little while later we told the staff the room was now free. Arrived back to find the room had not been serviced. When I gave that feedback (in a very pleasant way, not a complaint) the next morning and also there was no shower gel in the dispenser and a minute amount of shampoo.
The retort was "we dont service on a Sunday". So, I asked why the housekeer had woken us up and was told "to see if anyone was in the room". So, if there was no room servicing why......? They had no answer. If we had been told that on check in I would have hung up the sopping wet bathmat (the shower leaked ike a sieve) unstead of leaving it thinking it would be refeshed. t is however very close to an excellent chinese eatery. Plates were provided, as well as cultlery in a paper sheath that had been reused many, many times. The couple managing the motel
were surly from the outset, maintaining we had not prepaid our booking. Thankfully everywhere else on our travels the motels were lovely and the people friendly and helpful. Giving the Matilda a wide berth when we visit next year.

I stayed recently in a corporate room and found the location very convneient, the layout of the hotel was great as you could park directly in front of the the room.
Due to covid19, the hotel was probably quieter than usual and obivously the restaurants etc were not open, which was completely understandable. The reception staff member was super friendly and helpful and this was great!
The room i stayed in wasnt particulary clean, this was disappointing, however the bathroom was modern and definitely cleaner than the rest of the room. The bed was comfortable and the hotel complex included faciities such a guest laundry and vending machines.

Where to start. My family and I made a booking online for a family room, which had accompanying photos that showed a private courtyard for smoking, which is essential as travelling can be stressful for us. However, upon arriving it was clear to see that the room did not have a private courtyard, and when speaking to reception the staff member gave me a 'well what you see is not always what you're gonna get' attitude. I felt put out by her attitude and her misleading photos for the rooms. So already the experience at this establishment was already quite poorly. We were however fortunate enough to switch rooms to one that had the private courtyard for smoking which is what we were initially trying to get in the first place. The rooms were dirty and unprepared for guests. Food crumbs and scraps under the beds, sticky bedside tabletops, no toilet paper in the bathroom, no shower gel in the dispensers. It just felt unclean and unhygienic. The heaters in the room took forever to turn on and warm up and we spent most of the night cold. The books located inside each of the rooms stated that each bed was to have electric blankets, which was not the case. My family and I were booked in for two nights and only ended up staying the one due to how uncomfortable we all were. The property advertises free wifi, however we could get no signal from the room we were staying at. Overall this was a very disappointing experience at this property. When checking out early, the staff at reception appeared shocked when told why we were checking out. She came across rude and completely unaware as to how the rooms actually looked. She informed me that she would be speaking to the cleaner who was in charge of cleaning the room, but I will never return to that place again. Not a chance.

Wednesday 6th may I booked a 2 bedroom apartment at the matilta motor in for myself & my family. The kitchen in the room was filthy there was also stuff left in the cupboard that was obviously left there for a period of time with mould & a horrible smell I went & got the manager and all she could say was they forgot to clean the kitchen offering me a $30 refund! On top of it all there was no batteries in any of the remotes. Coming from myself who works in a motel if we didn't clean a room how you expect to stay in one than our boss would not be happy & for someone to find this in their room is disgusting. I frequently stay at the matilda but after the service I received I will never be back nor will I tell anyone to stay at the matilta.

This was our 3rd stay at Matilda Motor Inn, Dubbo.
I regret to say that this has been the worst motel stay we have had. Not just at Matilda Motor Inn, but anywhere. We did not complain at the time because our daughter just gave birth and we were too preoccupied with helping her. I also did not wish to let my anger take the better of me, as the lady behind the counter was nice enough and did not deserve abuse.
3 major complaints were the door locks, the daily service, and cleanliness. Every day, every time we stepped out, it would take anywhere from 2-15 minutes to enter the unit due to old failing locks. Once, we were locked out of the gate and it took 10 minutes of trying before the gates opened. This was then followed by a further 10 minutes trying to get in the unit. On another night, we had to help a disabled couple try to get in their unit due to the same problem. We eventually gave up as I had to use the toilet. I can only assume they finally got in. We were told that the locks were being replaced next week. Unfortunately, that was of no help to us and did not make the visit any better.
We stayed a total of 8 nights and our room, according to your own policy written in your book, should have been serviced every day. The book In the room specifically stated that ‘if you are staying more than one night, your room will serviced every day’ or words to that effect. I understand that to mean that the waste baskets are emptied, the room cleaned, beds made, and towels replaced. Believe it or not, this only happened on 3 occasions on an 8 day stay. Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, to be exact. And on Wednesday, they only pulled the bed cover over the sheets without bothering to change, much less, straighten the sheets. Disgusting service to say the least.
Due to this lack of daily service, the room was disgustingly dirty, with sticky bathroom tiles.
Our first 2 visits to Matilda were excellent so I don’t know what happened this time. New management maybe? If it is, they need to pick up their act. We will certainly be looking at other options for accommodation on our next visit to Dubbo.

The photos on the website for the 2 bedroom corporate rooms are extremely misleading. After checking in we realised the room did not have the court yard as depicted on the website. I spoke to the receptionist who (under sufferance) changed us to the room with the courtyard. The room was the dirtiest I have ever come across. Bedside tables were so dirty that anything put on them got stuck. I tried to clean them as best I could however because we had booked and paid for two rooms it seemed I was stuck with this motel. There was a large amount of food and god knows what else under the beds. As we had a toddler it was extremely unhygienic. The wifi offered free was out of range and therefore unusable. There was no toilet paper, soap or shower gel. The split system heating was set low and the room was quite cold. We could not raise the temperature past 26. There were no electric blankets on any of the beds as they had advertised. The door to the courtyard was unusable later at night due to the loud awful creaking sound. Bats had overtaken the trees hanging over the court yard so it was messy at check in and not a great place to sit especially at night. The noise of the bats was also disturbing throughout the night. I only lasted one night and could not stay for the 2nd as we had originally planned. We checked out around 12.30 after returning from the zoo and as this was after the 10 am checkout we were not entitled to any refund. The receptionist was quite stroppy and not pleasant to deal. She herself said the photos on the website were misleading. I will never stay here again.

Hi,
We recently arrived at the Matilda Motor Inn, prior to arrival we rang the office to notify them that we would be arriving after hours. The lady we spoke to told use the last 4 digits of our mobile number we booked with would be the code to get into the lock box.
Upon arrival the code was incorrect after many attempts to open the lock box we decided to call the after hours number that we were told to call incase we had any issues.
We rang the number multiple times whilst waiting outside at nearly 10pm. We then looked in the window to see a girl in the dark at the desk and we rang again, to our surprise the phone sitting next to her on the desk started ringing, she looked at it and then took no notice. We tried again and the same the happened. We messaged the phone and she got up and left!
We had to go around the back of the motel and enter through a back door and yell out.
The same girl then came and asked rudely what we were doing in there. We explained that we couldn’t get into the key box and in a very demeaning manner she replied with “it’s the last 4 digits of your number” ( like it says clearly on the lock box we had tried multiple times) we assured her we had tried and she told us to ring the after hours number, we told he we did and saw her sitting next to it in the office and she then replied with “Oh yeah the manager is the only one who can answer that” we asked why she had not notified the manger and she rudely said “ I’ll meet you back out the front!”
We finally got into our room and have come into dirty beds, what a treat for us to sleep in tonight!
Would not recommend to anyone who would like to spend a night in a nice set of clean sheets, would highly recommend if you would like to be treated like a moron for attempting to gain access to their room👌

Hi Lee, firstly sorry we seem to have missed this email from TripAdvisor. Booking on line is quite simple for any venue and most sites have comparison rates you can look at , you will need a credit card to secure a booking.
However even when you pick a site to stay at, if you can contact the motel directly you "may" get it cheaper as most venues may take off the booking site commission.
Sorry again for the late response and hope we caused you no inconvenience.
Travel safe, regards Murray
