All the hotels in Dubbo were booked out so I ended up with a late booking at the Amaroo. It was interesting. On the plus side: bargain price, big room, comfortable bed, big bathroom, efficient air conditioning, hot water in shower. There was an electric jug. Reasonably quiet even though on the main street. On the minus side: 3 single beds, no chair or wardrobe. Room smelled unaired and dank. Windows opened only a crack. Had to ask for another roll of toilet paper. Bathroom sink leaked. No door handle on the bathroom door. One power point not working. No information provided about how to get back into the hotel after hours (use my room key in the external door) or whether there was WiFi. I don’t know whether this was typical of other rooms. Quirky: bolts on the outside of the door of this and the adjoining room so I wonder whether they are used to hold prisoners on court days? Maybe that explains the bare essentials.

We requested extra blankets twice (5.55pm and again at 7.30pm) due to very cold bedroom. Heating from A/C was inadequate. 2 different bar/counter staff these would be delivered. Never arrived. Told no wi-fi available to guests, only for staff. We should have looked at recent reviews before we booked on Agoda and we would have stayed elsewhere. Bistro was good value on the Wednesday night, but staff were seen to just quick wipe of tables between customers which certainly was NOT in accordance with COVID- SAFE requirements - especially as the Covid scare in Dubbo 2 weeks earlier !

Centrally located close to shops. Bus stop close by. Had a double room, clean although room looked tired. Air-conditioning good, TV working fine. Bathroom had shower door missing. Smallest bar of soap I have ever seen included lol. Complimentary tea, coffee etc only supplied first day of stay. Rubbish 🗑 was emptied one day otherwise no room cleaning done. Lift didn't work. Would not recommend staying here if you are elderly, or sick as I was as the stairs are quite a challenge and missing part of the handrail in one section.

We had a pub lunch - I didn’t really know what to expect, but I was blown away. We all had the $15 lunch special - a number of us had the bangers and mash, while others had the steak diane. The steak came with chips and salad, and was a great-sized portion for lunch. I thoroughly enjoyed it and it was one of the most enjoyable steaks I’ve had for a while. Our friends also rated the bangers and mash. Would definitely come back again! The bar and bistro staff were also very friendly and welcoming. What a gem!

Managing dinner with extended family of 20 is not an easy thing to to do but not a problem for the Amaroo. Meals came out promptly and were exceptional value. I'm not sure where else you'd get mains for all under $20 whether they be steak or seafood and serving size is massive. No complaints about the quality, either. Recommended.

I was so disappointed & unhappy with my room, the rudeness of staff & lack of service that I will never be back. I really didn’t think I had to check whether a room came equipped with a microwave & toaster or not, especially for the price they are asking. I was probably lucky to get a jug! The bed rocked whenever you turned over & we had to jam some cardboard under one corner to try to steady it, the carpet had suspicious red stains on it & asking for the quietest room during the booking was pointless as I was put in a room over the Main Street & entrance. Don’t waste your money & book anywhere else.

This once grand hotel is now definitely at the bottom end of the budget accommodation offerings in Dubbo. Cheap and with a central location - but if you have access issues be warned - the bedrooms are on the second floor and the lift is permanently out of action. There were broken fittings and lifting tiles in my bathroom and the mattress definitely needed replacing. There is an unpleasant odor throughout the top floor and the sound of cars blasting up and down the main street makes it difficult to sleep. I would not recommend this hotel.

It's pretty unreal that this can even be a place that is advertised as a place of accomodation. I've spent $100 a night in some low budget places but the Amaroo is 5 levels below that. A window that opened only 5cm but let a bunch of spiderwebs in, a door that let hallway light in and rattled in the wind that breezed through the building, a bathroom room with a sink falling off the wall and leaking drain, a shower recess without a shower door, causing the door frame to rust, no toilet brush. Zero furniture in the room, the fridge just sat in the corner with a kettle on top. There was a mysterious stain on the ceiling paint peeling and mouldy orange around it. Carpet didn't look preofessionally cleaned for 5 years, and lumpy carpet throughout the hotel. definitely won't return or recommend.

The room was small but adequate for our needs, the bed was very comfortable and facilities okay, we were able to have a hot shower with plenty of water.
We would recommend the Amaroo hotel to family and friends.
Personnel were friendly and helpful.

Good location, great restaurant but less than basic hotel room amenities. Sound on TV didn’t work and guy working in hotel was on his own so couldn’t help. Only a thin blanket on hard bed on a cold night and no spare bedding anywhere. Carpet was filthy; curtains were stained; and no shelves or hooks in bathroom to place toiletries or hang towels. You get what you pay for but definitely below par!! Sadly, won’t stay there again.

Room Tip: Parking is fairly secure in lot behind pub so good for trailers. Take spare blankets in winter.

Hi, We have only been there once and do not know the parking situation very well. I think there might be room in the back street towards the river.
