Broken Hill is a strange place. A memory to times gone by. Some of the old houses still reflect the wealth of the early 20th century. One of the nicest examples - this hotel. It is oldfashioned, nostalgic, it has atmosphere. The rooms are nice - many different types, partly quite small. Bathrooms very good. Great restaurant, nice bar. Breakfast...

Stayed here recently and was happy with room. Disappointed that we chose a balcony room (paid extra) and found no place to sit and take advantage of it. No off street parking which we overlooked when booking. Unable to leave balcony door open as no screen and no windows so felt a little claustrophobic but all in all good spot...

All positive - the rooms were clean, 'roomy' and the beds extremely comfortable. Staff are lovely. Rooms are on first floor with no lift but this shouldn't be a problem for most - just an FYI. Restaurant not open Sun for breakfast but there are awesome cafe's in the same block.

Only enjoyed two dinners there, we did not stay. There was an elegance to the restaurant and being able to sit by the fire with a pre dinner drink chatting with other travellers was lovely. On both nights our dinner and the service were great Try it.

Delightful hotel, very good staff, enjoyed my stay. There is no lift, so don't have anything with you that you wouldn't want to carry up stairs. Budget room is cosy but the only place to open your suitcase is on the bed. Would be very cramped for a couple.

Arrived late in the evening due to late flight, but still received warm welcome. Lovely room with vintage architecture. Good range of amenities, including ground coffee. Excellent sleep and tasty a la carte breakfast. Recommended.

A true grand country pub experience, sympathetic decor to the pub's era (and very well done), gorgeous, genuinely interested staff, both at reception and in the restaurant, located right in the centre of town - listen to the post office clock chime, look out your window to the architecture of Broken Hill's heyday, lie back in bed and be transported...

A gorgeously restored art deco hotel, a luxurious bed in a very small room (eg no room for a table or bench surface). Be sure to look for the fridge and tea facilities in the wardrobe! Some rooms have direct access to a very wide balcony with nice quasi-cane seat/table ensembles - it would be worth asking for one of...

I stayed at The Royal Exchange because of it's close proximity to work. It was like stepping back in time. The inside of the building is wonderful. My room had access to the balcony which was also nice. At $170 for the night it was a bit expensive but it was only one night.

Stopped here for one night on our APT tour and stayed in room 5. This room does not have any view and looks out onto the window of another room. The room was clean and comfortable for our one night stay. The room has a shower over the bath and we found the high bath wall made it tricky to...
