New Year’s Eve and we found ourselves in Broken Hill. We booked Old Willyama and glad that we did. We had 2 rooms side by side as the apartment was sold. The rooms were great for a country motel, efficiently checked in (we arrived after office hours so keys in a box) Pool was clean and great to use to. All in all a clean, well presented motel in Broken Hill. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.
No complaints about the room, very clean, comfortable bed, good air con, WFi reasonable, however, we had gone out about 9am, returned at 1pm, to find room not cleaned, that was not a problem, we had just popped in to get changed and have a bite to eat.Next thing the housemaid knocked on the door and informed us she was there to clean the room. We asked her to come back in 30 mns., and she said we were the last room to do, and management wouldnt pay them to wait, so we would have to clean our own room! even though they were 2 cleaners short that day! I hope the owners of this motel read this, your manageress is a very rude lady!I have a business, and she wouldnt last a day in my employ.Parking is a problem as well, not enough Parks!
Initially attempted to book a room at this motel via the telephone on a recommendation from another motel. This was not our first choice. Our first call went unanswered, despite being before 1200h. We were then directed to voicemail and left a message. The call was returned, however by that stage I had booked online. We were advised, via email, after booking online, I would receive a message prior to arriving with a code to access our key. Prior to our arrival I received the code to a key box, with the instruction our key would be inside. On arrival I went to the key box and found a number of envelopes with names on them, I had to go through approximately 10 to find mine. It had my name and room number hand written on it, as were they other envelopes. In the envelope was our key, my receipt, (with my name and address on it) and a form requesting all occupants name, address, phone number, licence number, reason for stay and travel details. I was then instructed to leave the form at reception or if reception was unattended to return back to the key locker. At no time has this reception been open despite what time of day I have attempted to contact them. All calls went to after hours message bank. I completed the form and took it back to the key locker. I was very reluctant to leave it in a locked device that a large number of people were able to access. Despite my misgivings, I did place the envelope into the locker, ensuring I put it at the rear. In hindsight, I should have trusted my gut and left the envelope in the room when we departed the next morning. I find this a total lack of security, relying on the honesty of people to ensure the information contained on these forms stays secure. Surely this information can be completed online, when the booking is done. If the lack of staff on the premises was not enough, the parking was even worse. When booking the room I did request parking, however on our return from dinner, we found all but one space available, and this was not a specified space. When you book accommodation you don’t expect to park your car on the street, quite a distance from you room. I appreciate the need for establishments adhering to contactless check-ins due to COVID-19 restrictions, however if this impacts on the security of their customers, something else should be developed. I won’t be staying at this establishment, if I should travel to Broken Hill again, if their level of security is not improved. I have concentrated on the security in this review as I believe this is just as important as a good room. On saying that, the room was very average for the type of room we paid for.…
After much research we spent 5 nights here and we were very pleased we did. In the perfect position in Broken Hill but still extremely quiet Room was very clean. Bed was amazing and the shower pressure was the best Room was cleaned every day and topped up with fresh supplies of tea coffee and bathroom products. It was so good we even rebooked when we came back for our train journey home Staff are also great Highly recommend this hotel
Our stay here was comfortable, with a clean and well appointed room, and conveniently located in Broken Hill, with the added convenience of a restaurant onsite. Friendly staff at reception made us feel welcome when we checked in with no prior reservation. The restaurant offered a typical menu with adequate choices and reasonably priced. I would definitely return to Old Willyama Motor Inn.
