Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

After a long drive from Morpeth north of Newcastle NSW we opted to have our evening meal here. The food and more importantly the staff were first rate. Full marks to the bar staff member who convinced the chef to serve up a treat for our fur baby

We have been here plenty of times and the pub style food is consistently good. The Asian style barramundi is excellent and the prawn salad with green mango (ask for extra if you want more flavour) is great.
They also really know his to look after their beers.

i came in here initially to escape the rain and decided to have a bite to eat while here. the burger was nice but overpriced and the bun was too small for the burger. there was a good selection of craft beers on tap. staff were friendly. looked clean.

I came with a group of 24 people (a few just had coffees) for breakfast. The waitress took our order on an iPod so assumingly nothing was missed. 4 meals did not come out and the waitress said she will put them back through.
These 4 meals eventually came out as the rest of us finished. When we all paid for our meals there were 4 left over $157 worth which matched the 4 re ordered but already paid for.

The waitress/bar lady insisted we were wrong and that we should pay. When I tried to explain what happened with the original waitress she kept insisting that those remaining had not paid when we had. The total of our bill was $675 so I could not understand why she was being so rude considering the venue was empty for breakfast... after more arguing she eventually went in to the kitchen conferred with a chef and returned just saying “it’s fine”
The food was nice but considering no apology was offered and we were accused of skipping out on a meal despite paying over $600. I had family with me from outside Bathurst, interstate and overseas and they all walked out saying I should of taken them to the cafe I took them to the other day.

We will never recommend or stay in this hotel ever again.
We initially picked this hotel due to its offering of a breakfast with the price. This never occured, despite still being advertised on their booking page.
We requested to see the owner, only to be told he will be available on the Thurs, we asked for him to see us, guess what, he never showed.
No free wifi as advertised.
We went across the road to have breakfast each morning and had intended to give the receipts to the hotel owner for a refund.

Will not visit again!!
Went in Easter Monday afternoon for drinks with my husband, and paid for a beer and wine. Happy Hour was advertised - so at 4pm I ordered another round and asked for the Happy Hour wine price, to which I was told it wasn’t applicable on public holidays- which I accepted, even though the signage didn’t specify non public holidays.
I returned to my seat with our full priced drinks, to watch a local patron order a beer and get charged Happy Hour price!!!

Happy Hour for some and not others!!
Be consistent with your pricing, not a good way to impress visitors to the town, will never step foot in here again.

A really cool hotel with pretty good food. Was popular for the Bathurst weekend. Staff warm and friendly and helped where they could. Only let down was the Manager, well I think he was the manager. Zero people skills, treated bar/food staff extremely poorly and was extremely blunt with customers.

We were so fortunate to have lunch here last weekend.
The Food was outstanding, the wines suggested and the Hospitality shown buy the staff was outstanding.
Special mention to Matthew the manager, he’s a true publican that understands his guests and we cannot recommend he and his staff highly enough.

How on earth does a country pub produce food of the quality they serve at The George. I have been previously with my wife and always enjoyed the food and the ambience. I went with my wife and my son and his family last night. To say the steak was probably one of the best i have ever eaten would be an understatement. Everyone loved their meals, the staff are friendly, no question is to hard to answer, the service is prompt and courteous and the food....wow.

Nice staff- did a good job at managing current restrictions. Warm and comfortable, clean, nice space . Large menu with great variety of pub classics, or bistro menu and good value. Good choice for dinner on our Bathurst stopover.
