Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Worst hotel I have been to. Awful room with rusty bathroom, noisy fridge and air con. Neon lighting like a fridge. so expensive for what it is. They also double charged me and lie about the refund being processed.

A really cool hotel with pretty good food. Was popular for the Bathurst weekend. Staff warm and friendly and helped where they could. Only let down was the Manager, well I think he was the manager. Zero people skills, treated bar/food staff extremely poorly and was extremely blunt with customers.

We recently visited Bathurst to watch school sport and booked into this hotel. It proved a real plus - great variety of beers at the bar and a wonderful dining room for dinner and breakfast. The rooms were comfortable and very adequate, having their own ensuite. On top of this the price was really good for the quality of the facilities. We dined with other family members and everyone was more than happy with their meals. The breakfast facilities are equally of top quality and over all you could not ask for more from a hotel stay in the country. We would certainly recommend this hotel to our friends!

How on earth does a country pub produce food of the quality they serve at The George. I have been previously with my wife and always enjoyed the food and the ambience. I went with my wife and my son and his family last night. To say the steak was probably one of the best i have ever eaten would be an understatement. Everyone loved their meals, the staff are friendly, no question is to hard to answer, the service is prompt and courteous and the food....wow.

Will not visit again!! Went in Easter Monday afternoon for drinks with my husband, and paid for a beer and wine. Happy Hour was advertised - so at 4pm I ordered another round and asked for the Happy Hour wine price, to which I was told it wasn’t applicable on public holidays- which I accepted, even though the signage didn’t specify non public holidays. I returned to my seat with our full priced drinks, to watch a local patron order a beer and get charged Happy Hour price!!! Happy Hour for some and not others!! Be consistent with your pricing, not a good way to impress visitors to the town, will never step foot in here again.

Dinner for two. Great options to choose from including GF for both main and dessert. We both chose the ArgentinIan Lamb Rump. It was really good, he thinks it's the best he's ever had. We opted for dessert and neither of us were disappointed. Cardamom Panna Cotta was beautiful. His warmed chocolate Brownie was wonderful. Drinks can be added to the tables tab. We had a fantastic night, with great service provided by the staff. Tables and chairs were comfortable and if we'd not been so exhausted we could easily have stayed for a few more drinks in this lovely place.

We were so fortunate to have lunch here last weekend. The Food was outstanding, the wines suggested and the Hospitality shown buy the staff was outstanding. Special mention to Matthew the manager, he’s a true publican that understands his guests and we cannot recommend he and his staff highly enough.

As expected for the price that you pay. The place seemed tidy however the bathroom did have a smell. Beds aren’t the comfiest but fine for one night. Great location and great pricing. Staff were lovely too.

Perfect if you like noise (bathroom extractor on all the time), no toiletries except soap, wall mounted TV near the ceiling, hallway sensor light on and off all night long, no reading light, nowhere to hang your clothes and squeaky floorboards. Add to that Easter egg wrappers left and underneath vanity not seen a mop for a long time.

Would never stay here again. No off- street secure parking - in fact had to park car on street opposite of a busy road. Reception by the bar- man. Despite advertising on website that breakfast was included only to be told by cleaner next morning that because of Covid - it was not available. The hotel is an older hotel with re-furbished guest rooms. The constant SCREECHING bats ( flying foxes) all night in the park opposite made sleep near impossible. If that wasn't enough, then noisy drunk teenagers walking the streets at 1 AM did not help. One could close the window which was ajar a little but then lack of air in the small room with minimal floor space / no-where to put your bags - required you turning on the NOISY portable air conditioner. One could NOT possibly sleep with the roar from that air - con.. There was a ceiling fan - but the roar of it even at the slowest speed (which was way too fast ) was frankly - a joke. No bed-side tables, the TINY TV mounted far to high near the ceiling gave you a stiff neck trying to watch it.. NO convenient power points for boiling the water to make a cup of tea or coffee - the only useful power point in the bathroom mounted dangerously ( and probably illegally ) to running water in the wash basin. The false floor creaked in the corridors when walking and was very noisy. As if all of the above was not bad enough - the biggest danger to our minds was the large, HEAVY mirror on the wall a little above your heads when sitting on the bed attempting to watch TV or when we were sleeping. The thought of accidentally bumping it with it come crashing down decapitating you made restful sleep impossible. Expensive room and very disappointing for such a beautiful town. Go elsewhere !
