I stayed in the youth hostel accommodation. I was the only one in the 6 bed female room, which was nice. There is only one plug for chargers in the room which would not be good if the room was full. There was a little heater in there and the bedding was good. There are cupboards that you can lock if you bring a lock. The kitchen is good- it has everything you could need. There is a common room that is comfy and has what you could need again. The female bathroom is indoor/outdoor but it’s alright.

In Bateman’s Bay lies the Shady Willows Holiday Park and Batemans Bay YHA. I had rented for the evening a Caravan to sleep in. That’s right, a small, old trailer similar to those you see abandoned in lots throughout rural Wisconsin. Take a look at the picture I posted to see what I mean.  It is small, but it was clean. The facilities were like staying at a campground – group showers and bathrooms. But it had a full kitchen facilities as well.

It has a small portable heater that provides enough heat to make this small thing comfortable – it is no more than 15 feet long and 10 wide. I was only awakened once during the night by something walking on the top of the camper – my best guess was a cat – but who knows? 

We needed a stopover place and we stayed here overnight because of the affordable price. Little did I know that we would be having a scary and regretful experience. Someone was knocking/banging each of the three cabins we stayed in at around 12:30 AM to 3AM. At least 2 times each cabin and it scared me and my wife and 4 kids (2 stayed in each of the 3 cabins). None of us went out for fear of our life. We were not able to sleep and go out for toilet.

Everything felt weird from the moment you step in to the reception to the cabin full of mosquitoes and seeing the neighbourhood giving you an unfriendly stare (some of the residents look like longtime cabin owners). The name shady really is accurate description for this place. I would not recommend it to anyone.

Worst of it, we got a message the following day asking us if we know anything about a smashed window in one of the cabin we stayed in? We did not do it and know nothing about it. Now I’m suspicious they might be blaming and charging us for the damage. This despite of the bad experience we had. This place is really dodgy. Looks like this is the modus operandi of the owners.

Far too small and worth the money and time. Pet friendly but I have stayed in 100% better accommodation then this. There is no stove or proper kitchen. The cabin is extremely small.
Mould in the bathroom ceiling vinyl is coming up in the bathroom and kitchen cupboards falling apart.

Amazing couple who own this park. They are super helpful and always care to see if everything if going good. They also know what its like to travel. Bateman bay is a lovely town and you're just a short walk away from everything in town. Showers are hot and clean, always. Massive thank you to Kim and Leanne, from 2 lost backpackers in need of a shower.

I stayed in the YHA section of the park in a twin room that could only be described as a jail cell. Definitely not worth $88! I've stayed in hotel rooms for $88. Couldn't open window, no fan for ventilation and right next to the women's bathrooms for the park so be ready to hear the slamming door all night and early morning. Mattress was cheap and thin. Just not worth the money at all, should only be $45 a night tops.

I stayed for 3 nights when my car broke down. Pet friendly accommodation that has everything you need. Clean amenities. Friendly, helpful staff. I stayed in both a budget van and a cabin with ensuite. I had everything I needed and I found the location to be good.
