An absolutely beautiful hotel! From the moment you step through the door you immediately feel calm and at peace. Kevin greeted us at the door of the hotel and offered us a drink on arrival before showing us to our room and talking through some of the key features - a very personalised service. The rooms are beautifully designed and finished with very luxurious touches including a deep soaking copper bath. The rooms are huge and feature a desk area, lounging area and table for eating/drinking at Breakfast was brought to our room in the morning - a lovely touch. I would definitely recommend a stay at Circa 1928!

Hello Samara, Our copper bathtubs are certainly beautiful and a talking point in regard to our hotel fit-out. Hand made near Ririns home in Indonesia, they were specifically designed and made for us here at CRCA 1928. Copper is anti- bacterial, which is perfect for a hotel bath and strangely enough, retains the heat as opposed to normal baths which lose the heat of the water much faster. Guests have described it as feeling like you are cocooned in warmth and more than one guest has fallen asleep in the bath. Large desks for working and the beautiful petrified wood dining tables certainly do make it easier to spread yourself out without having to work or eat off your lap while perched on the edge of the bed or on a couch. Thank you Samara for being our guest and we hope to see you again when you are next in Australia. Regards Kevin

We spent one night in this lovely hotel. However, we hadn't realised it was a 'spa' hotel and didn't avail ourselves to those services.
Kevin and his staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. There were a lot of personal touches included such as welcome drinks, evening drinks, nightcap, breakfast tray delivered to our room etc. The hotel was an eclectic assemblage of genres and themes, and the rooms were spacious with high quality amenities.
While not to our taste, there was no denying a lot of thought and effort has gone into this boutique establishment. A little expensive at $400 a night for a short stopover, however. Probably suit those actually wanting the full spa treatment.

Hello Lost Generation, Thank you for your review. We have spent a great deal of effort and expense to make our small hotel unique - not a vanilla box - as the vast majority of hotels are these days and when anything in this world is a little outside the box, it will always come down to personal taste. But thankyou for acknowledging our uniqueness and most importantly for staying with us and supporting regional tourism. Regards Kevin

+1
We had a fantastic 2 nights at this small boutique hotel in the main street of Albury. The windows are triple glazed, so our room was very quiet. Attention to detail and all the inclusions, as well as the friendliness of the owners Kevin and Ririn made this a very special stay! Staying in Albury was also an eye opener, since we usually travel through on our way to Canberra. Albury had all the shops and restaurants you may need, an art gallery and fantastic walks along the Murray River and wetlands. Highly recommend!!

Hello Josine, Thank you for being our guest at CIRCA 1928 and for discovering the delights of Albury. We think its the best small city in Australia, and it is great to see that more and more people are discovering what's so great about it. I saw recently where Albury was on this years predicted Top 10 hot spots for travel in Australia, so that makes you an explorer / discoverer / early adopter. Thanks and regards Kevin

Hello Maria, Our guests certainly seem to love our fresh continental breakfasts which are included in all of our room tariffs. One guest even just this week was AMAZED that our "fresh orange juice" was actually freshly squeezed on the day from real oranges. This surprised us, but really, should it be so surprising ? Maybe not, considering we are located in the lovely Riverina region where fresh oranges do actually fall off the trees. Thanks for being our guest and for your review and we look forward to seeing you again. Regards Kevin

Treat yourself to the amazing hotel and spa experience that Circa 28 has to offer!
From the moment we arrived, my husband and I were made welcome and treated like royalty by our amazing host, Ririn.
We were greeted with a welcome drink and snacks. This was followed by our introduction to our incredible Stanley suite. So unique with so many incredible little details. Pre-dinner drinks, night caps and delicious breakfasts that were all beautifully served and presented made this a very memorable and unique experience.
Ririn's incredible creativity is evident thoughout the hotel and many of her homeware items are available for purchase in the retail section of the hotel.
Just when we thought our stay couldn't get any better, it was topped off by an amazingly relaxing couples' massage in Circa 28's spa area.
Ririn and her husband, Kevin have created a totally unique experience in Albury. Be sure not to miss it if you want a memorable and very special experience in a very unique hotel!

Hello Sienna, You are absolutely correct in identifying Ririn's creativity in the design and decor of CIRCA 1928 which is just small sample of what she does. It is the main element of our decor and that coupled together with very personal service has led to many reviews such as yours which describe us as you do: "a very unique hotel". Regards Kevin

Our two night stay was the perfect end to our NSW Road Trip. We stayed in the Hart suite which is huge, beautifully furnished and most importantly has a very comfortable bed. There is a stunning bath (which we didn’t use not being as flexible as we once were) with a fabulous stained glass window. Breakfast, served in our room, was very good - freshly squeezed orange juice, beautifully presented fresh fruit plate and lovely pastries, toast and jam. The hotel is well located with off-street parking and walking distance to many restaurants, the shops and cinema. Our welcome drink and chat with Kevin was so welcoming. We were surprised there were vacancies over Easter as staying there is definitely an experience to savour.

Hello Favourites, Thankyou for including CIRCA 1928 Albury in your road trip as you explored beautiful NSW. Reviews such as yours are critical to our success. We don't just measure that success however in being 100% full, it is equally about ensuring that every guest, on every stay is 100% happy with their stay. We visited during our sea/ tree change, so it was just an overnight, sadly. Though plenty to do in the area, including within walking distance, revitalised river walk included.
Conveniently located between Sydney’s Inner West and Geelong Spirit of Tasmania ferry service, almost a Surry Hills on the border of NSW and VIC.
Highly personalised service, with a H O S T (thank you) reminiscent of smaller boutique properties, absolute attention to detail, taking the time to chat about experiences sought in the area and so on, knowledgeable about dining options, suggestions given.
Got the Warhol.
In transformation post-Covid pandemic with more spa treatment rooms used differently.
Art and books (though I/ we would probably have set aside some of outside pavement/ ground floor for a coffee house/ may be wine bar/ deli/ special tastings zone).
Breakfast absolutely worldclass.
Out of all our/ my long term fav this one, Circa 1928, really stands out.
Old bank building leased for extended period, apparently.

From the warm reception by Kevin, along with a welcome drink in the lobby, this hotel is fabulous.Kevin really knows his stuff when it comes to hospitality. We stayed in the Hart Suite - a homage to Pro Hart. Eclectic room decorations and a beautiful bathroom ( with a large copper bath and a rain shower). The bed was very comfortable. All inclusive ( mini bar, wine, coffee, tea, chocolates and a yummy continental breakfast- the croissant was so fresh! If coming to Albury you must stay here.

Hello Sydney Blondie, Thanks for taking the time to write the review. You are right about the croissants !! They come from Nord Bakery in South Albury. They look a little different that other croissants which usually means that some pastry chef / baker has put his own special touch on every single item that they produce. And we should be so grateful to all of those chefs and bakers who start at 3 or 4 in the morning so that we can have amazing pastries and breads to start the day. Thanks again for the review Kevin

Circa 1928 is a small hotel brilliantly created by Kevin Yaxley behind the impressively colonnaded facade of an ex CBA building in Albury. The decor is a testament to an interesting life vigorously lived. Kevin’s personalised and very generous service to the guests was a rare treat in Australia. We have recently spent time at Raffles in Singapore, the service at Circa was up there.

Hello U7........ Thankyou for your kind words. This year 2024, is my 50th year of working in the hotel and tourism industry, and I along with our staff still delight in giving guest service. While many see it as a task, there are those that understand that providing exceptional service provides the greatest degree of job satisfaction possible: more than money, more than titles. While we still fall short on occasions, at CIRCA 1928 we will always be trying our utmost to provide a touch of luxury. Definition of luxury: "Luxury is what we don't need, but want. Its what's beyond the necessary". ** **Nicola Chilton.
