The lodge is outside of Westport and only about 1km from the Cape Foulwind walkway. There's also a lovely little low-tide beach about a 10 minute walk away with a natural stone bridge.

My room was incredibly clean and modern with a comfortable bed and lots of room to spread out. I loved that there were multiple comfy chairs in the room, too. The bathroom was compact and came with lovely shampoo, conditioner, lotion and soaps. The rooms are little cottages really, and they have sliding glass doors on each side so there's lovely natural light and excellent cross-ventilation. I left my doors open as long as I could to enjoy the fresh sea air. Each has a little deck with patio set too. Room has electric kettle and mini fridge, and I was grateful for the dinner plate, wine glass, tea cups, napkins, and other details that made simple in-room snacks easier.

Guest laundry is $5 a load, and there's a hot tub you can book at reception, free of charge. The tub is surrounded by palm trees and greenery - secluded and lovely.

Breakfast was served in the main house and it included cereals, homemade bread, freshly made yogurt, and local honey. there was canned fruit and whole fruit as well as coffee, tea, and lots of condiments.
Thank Leah

We stayed here 81/2 years ago on our first trip to NZ and were so delighted to come back to this delightful, sparklingly clean and oh so kiwi friendly place. Delicious homemade bread at the breakfast in addition to local spreads! The hosts were so helpful and friendly! The hot tub definitely eased our road aches. Beautiful place!

Stayed here before and loved it then.
Owners were awesome and super friendly and the breakfast in the communal dining room was nice and freshly home baked goodies as well.
We went to the local pub for a meal and everyone very friendly.

Karen & Lee were wonderful hosts. They did everything possible to ensure we had a great stay and we came back to spend another night with them at the end of our trip. They offer great little service extras and good local advice/recommendations. Loved the spa in the bush setting. Really relaxing. Room was perfect for a couple and bed was comfy,

Comfortable rooms, reasonable rates, beautiful location, friendly staff. Excellent continental breakfast with homemade breads and cereal a pleasant bonus. Limited restaurant options in Westport after 9 pm so eat early.

Thank you so much for your lovely review, we really appreciate it. We advise all guests wishing to dine at the Star Tavern that the kitchen closes around 8.30-9ish, so it's best to eat early, or make a booking. Alternatively, there are other options in Westport, which can cater for later dining times. All the very best for the remainder of your travels, Kind regards, Karen & Lee
