When we drove up the long drive, through the pastures, we were stunned by the beauty of this place. The home is literally stunning inside and out. The home is very sleek and contemporary but very warm and comfortable. Each room has a wall of glass to view lake Te Anau. Joan and Ross were very friendly hosts. We could... More

This is a beautiful, dream house set at the top of a ridge hidden from view from any other aspect of the region. There is an amazing view from the house of the Lake Te Anau and the surrounding mountains. The bedroom was extremely comfortable and Joan and Ross made us feel very welcome. Lovely breakfasts.

This property is luxury all round. Joan is a wonderful host. The home is perfectly set up for travellers, with the rooms being spacious and the bathroom ultra modern. Underfloor heating and heated towel rails, lots of space for suitcases and clothes. The views from the room are truly stunning.

You drive up a long driveway up a hill to a modest ranch style home in the midst of cattle and sheep pastures. Once inside you will be wowed by the ultra modern sophisticated decor and the panoramic view of mountains. Jane is charming and gave us a warm welcome. Our corner room was stunning. Soft greys, white and rose... More

We stayed in November for two nights it was one of the nicest places we ever stayed. We awoke in the morning to two rainbows over the lake. It was absolutely beautiful. Joan and Ross are great hosts and fun to visit with. Joan breakfasts are great and here cookies are outstanding. We would come back here in a minute.... More

We were initially a little unsure at staying so far out of the town, yet as soon as we arrived there was no question that this was THE place to be in Te Anau. Stunning architectural design means that this is one of the most beautiful buildings we have ever stayed in. And that is before you see the view... More

We stayed for 3 nights at the lodge and loved every minute of it. From the very hospitable hosts Joan, Ross and Ruby the cat, evening drinks and canapés over looking the mountains and lake to the helicopter ride (Jonathon was a great guide and pilot) and walk down the Kepler track. Thanks for a very memorable stay. Fiona and... More

We stayed here in October for, sadly, just one night on our way to an overnight cruise on Doubtful Sound. The welcome was very friendly and we were shown to a large, comfortable room with a terrace outside. The rooms are all very clean and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful. We both spent time just looking at the... More

Our three nights at Prospect Lodge exploring a small part of Fiordland were a highlight of our recent South Island trip. The location is simply stunning with panoramic views of the surrounding Fiordland mountains and Lake Te Anau. The architecturally designed home is beautifully located on the site with generous, tranquil spaces that perfectly capture the views wherever you are.... More

We stayed for 3 nights with Joan and Ross in March 2014. We received a warm welcome and nothing was too much trouble. If you want privacy you can have it or if you want a cup of tea and a chat that is available too. The room was lovely and the house is fabulous - designed by their daughter.... More
