Just wanted to dash off a quick review: the Owners, Joan and Ross and particularly nice people, especially Joan. They have a few really nicely appointed rooms and I definitely recommend their place. We stayed 3 nights and felt ourselves to be lucky to have landed there. Oh, and you will be amazed at the view out across their back...

Our first touring holiday in NZ and this was our first lodge. Whilst we'd done lots of research pre the holiday (because as veteran luxury hotel users this was a step into the unknown) we remained nervous about what we might find. No need to worry. We drove the 900m from the road to the lodge, through the fields of...

Secluded and beautiful bed and breakfast, nestled just out of Te Anau. The near new property is an architectural delight and you can see no expense has been spared in the fixtures and fittings. There are two self contain rooms which are connected to the main house, but offer enough privacy and comfort to lock yourself away if you wish....

Whilst you will need a car to get to this accomodation, as it's a couple of kms from town centre you will not be disappointed. Beautiful views across Lake Te Anau, this accomodation has great breakfasts with options, continental plus cooked. Joan your host has plenty of information about the local surrounds and was able to offer some great dinner...

Absolutely delightful and wonderfully surprising. Views out of the corner room are nothing short of magical. Our hosts were traveling and their lovely daughter in laws(both of them) and sons helped host in their place. Really lovely experience. The rooms were perfectly appointed and in superb shape. The home as just beautifully built with great craftsmanship and materials. This is...

Yes, the views really are as good as they look in the pictures. Our hosts were friendly with loads of local knowledge. This modern boutique B & B was a great place to relax with a glass of wine and watch the birds with some of the world’s best hiking and vistas right around the corner. If you are having...

We had a wonderful stay at Prospect Lodge. It wasn't on our original schedule as we were let down by the Lodge we had originally booked - but we were so glad that we were able to experience the peace and tranquillity of this wonderful Lodge. Joan was incredibly helpful, allowing us to drop our luggage much earlier than check-in...

Comfortable accommodations in a well appointed home with stunning views. Our gratuitous hosts invited us to share wine and canapes with their other visitors. Great food and company. Excellent breakfast and recommendations for things to do in the area.

Location, view, build quality, attention to detail, deco, food, privacy, owners ... and Ruby. A must-stay when visiting both Sounds or the Kepler Track if you like some luxury. Can not recommend this place enough and we would not hesitate to go back. Absolutely stunning place and worth every $.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Prospect Lodge is owned by Ross & Joan Cockburn from Mt Prospect Station and the former Mt Prospect High Country Homestay. Following the loss of their well known homestead to fire in 2007, Ross & Joan have rebuilt on their farmland overlooking Lake Te Anau. This new lodge, opened in 2011, continues to offer the same fantastic service and luxurious comfort offered previously, only situated on a ridge overlooking Lake Te Anau, the Te Anau township and the mountains of Fiordland, a view that takes your breath away. With two beautifully appointed guest rooms with lake views and private terraces, en-suite bathrooms and luxury bedding, the Lodge is a fabulous place to base yourself while visiting Milford or Fiordland. ... more   less
