My son and I bookended our tramp on Kepler Track here. Very nice vibe with all kinds of places to hang out. Met some nice people here but the best part was that staff found me and returned valuable stuff I had left. Check your room before you leave though. Don't be a pain!

I stayed there for one night in one of the cabins in the garden. Our room was a little bit to small for the four of us with all of our backpacks and bags. The staff was very friendly and gave good recommendations about what to do around Te Anau. Everything was very clean.

Te Anau is a lovely YHA close to the main areas of Te Anau and the stunning lake. The hostel has good sized rooms, clean facilities and helpful staff. Parking is available and a kitchen with all the facilities you'd expect including fresh herbs from the garden, outdoor deck and Bbq. What makes this YHA nice is the laid back...

Hi Marie-Anne, Thank you for the recommendation, we're delighted you enjoyed you stay. Evenings are a popular time for shower use - particularly by guests coming off the Great Walks - and this puts a lot of strain on our hot water system. It recovers quickly and guests should find no problems at any other time of the day. Kind...

We just stayed for one night in a double room (two beds) but we found the facilities to be good and the kitchen seemed well equipped. The staff was very helpful and showed us different walks to do around the area. We decided to do a walk along a portion of the Kepler track which took us about 3.5 hour...

This place is pretty cheap, reliable, and it has everything you're looking for in a hostel: a cleanly communal cooking area, reasonably fast free WiFi, friendly staff, nice shower facilities and decent rooms. The hostel is a few minutes' walk from Lake Te Anau, and a great launch point for trips to the Milford Sound. If you're looking for cheap...

As a solo traveller, I found this hostel an okay place to stay, however beware that the dorm rooms are VERY tight and it is next to impossible to reach plug sockets located behind the bunk beds (at least from what I experienced in my dorm). The bathrooms are good, and the communal areas including the TV room, kitchen, and...

Hi Holly, Thanks for staying with us and leaving your review. We have a number of dorm rooms here and each room is a different size. We're looking to refurbish a number of a rooms in the coming year and room layout and plug access are two issues we're considering. Guest feedback is really important to us in shaping our...

We enjoyed our stay at the YHA- our twin bunk beds were comfortable and the shared kitchen area was spacious for the amount of people staying. There were plenty of pans and 3 hobs. My only criticism was there was only 1 oven and no complimentary tea/coffee which other hostels offer. I didn't feel like there was enough indoor furniture...

Hi Georgina, Thanks for staying with us and we're glad you enjoyed your stay. We understand that one oven may not be many but space in the kitchen means we have to prioritise other amenities instead. We actually do offer free tea and coffee at the hostel but only in select months outside of summer. We stop this in the...

Great location and welcoming friendly staff. Very nice common area with gas fireplace and comfy sofas and super nice inclosed patio. Close to grocery store, restaurants and bars. The only thing negative was the shared bathroom was really cold.
