Our 2 nights stay at the hostel was amazing. The staff is super welcoming and nice and the rooms are clean and comfortable. The kitchen is well organised and big, which makes is easy for several backpackers to cook at the same time. I really enjoyed my stay and I recommend the hostel to everyone who looks for a relaxing...

Standard backpackers. Rooms clean but the ensuite bathroom is a joke. Staff helpful and friendly. View over the lake is nice. Found it rather average regarding opportunities for socializing due to the way it is built. One night here was enough.

Good: location in front of the lake, very central, accommodation choices in Te Anau were limited around New Year so it was good to have this option Room for improvement: Possibly one of the most uncomfortable beds we have ever slept on. The place seemed old and cheep. Average customer service. Very expensive considering the quality we got for the...

Positives: - Good location (right in front of the lake) - Nice lounge - Reasonably clean premises Improvements: - Size of rooms (twin) are very small to fit in two with no windows - Check-in experience was impersonal and felt like checking in a hotel. Staff wasnt very interested in helping out on things to do/ recos/ etc.

We were housed in the building next to reception which is apparently the quieter of the two. The room was nice and clean with lots of windows and high ceilings. I enjoyed the lounge, and the kitchen is large and spacious. However there were some problems, the shower constantly flooded, thus the hallway was often wet. Also I'm not sure...

Stayed for one night with the kids in a 4 bunk room with own bathroom. Clean, nice view of the lake. Didn't use the kitchen areas but it looked clean and well equipped. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Close to eating areas of town (5 min walk) and was really quiet.

We booked this hostel on our way over to Te Anau as the weather did not allow for camping. Due to the last minute booking we had to stay in different rooms which is to be expected at the last minute. The kitchen and common areas were well equipped but we only used them for breakfast in the morning on...

The room is nice and clean, reasonable well soundproof which made our stay quiet and comfortable. Town center is just 10 minutes walk away, and 5 minutes walk from Real Journey Glow Worm check-in office.Very convenience location.

The rooms are clean but tired and a total hotchpotch of decor. Sadly they are also not soundproof or particularly robust in construction and the place has plenty of creaking squeaking doors that you'll notice once you try to sleep. Our room 'Dusky', shook everytime a door was shut and the shared toilet next door to our room was totally...

A little late in posting...My friend and I stayed at the Lakefront Backpackers on four different occasions during Feb and March 2016. We enjoyed our stay and found the staff to be courteous and helpful, although quite busy at times. We interacted with Jude, Rachel and Lisa on several issues and found them to be of great assistance. The rooms...
