We very much enjoyed our stay at Sofitel. Location was perfect & very central. Loved our large room, clean, and bedding was extremely comfortable.
We were there on Christmas Day and really enjoyed the special beautiful degustation menu with matching wines they offered that night. Also ate at the wine bar one night - meal was perfect.
Service was very attentive throughout the hotel.
Breakfast was sufficient although not a huge selection which was disappointing.
View from our room while we could see the mountain (& the hang-gliders) which was lovely, as we were not on top floor we looked out to the carpark which wasn’t great but a minor thing really as Queenstown has so much to see you don’t spend a lot of time at the balcony.
Thank you for a wonderful stay Sofitel, it made the first 5 days of our holiday perfect.

We recently returned to the states from a monthlong journey to Australia and New Zealand. The Queenstown Sofitel proved to be one of our favorite lodging facilities ever, and we are jaded, experienced global travelers. Conveniently located in the epicenter of Queenstown's waterfront diaspora, this Sofitel was modern and five-star maintained and operated. The staff were unbelievably friendly and helpful, and made you feel welcome no matter the place or time of day. A world-class spa offered convenient amenities and the dining options were superb. Their Happy Hour/Tea Time offerings were some of the best we've ever seen. The hotel's location was superb with the stores, restaurants, and waterfront attractions all just steps away. We loved the Queenstown Sofitel and highly recommend it for the discerning traveler.

Stayed at the Sofitel for a 6 days whilst we visited around the Queenstown area. The location of the hotel was ideal and within walking distance to all the main places within Queenstown itself. The room was a good size (stayed in a a junior suite) and was well maintained by housekeeping. The staff are extremely friendly and really want to make your stay the best they can. Quality of breakfast was good (but ask for soft eggs if you want them) and coffee is large and hot. My biggest complaint is the hotel restaurant which is my opinion is not worth the space and should be closed or transferred into a bar or use for the club lounge. The service was good but the quality of food I can only describe as 1 star. The chef obviously is not a chef. I have an allergy so got told the soup was more than one day old so unsure what’s in it! The salad I got was meant to be Cesar but with what is in it I would call a mystery. The staff when I complained did their best and took the salad off the bill but my partner who did not eat because I could not paid for their full plate. But the biggest issue for me is that I don’t believe the leadership team even know or possibly care. The staff are young and having a senior manager walk the room and show them how to deal with issues would make such a difference. As a customer it would had meant more to talk than to save the cost of the food.

This hotel is right in the centre of Queenstown. You have everything outside just only a few steps, restaurant, bar, shopping etc...
Check in at the hotel was so smooth, the front desk were welcoming and acknowledged our Accor membership. We had booked 5 rooms and they managed to place us all together which was great.

The offer valet parking for $50 per day or you can park on the street for free if you don’t mind walking around the block. There is parking that will cost you $15 a day, just behind the hotel also.

The rooms are a great size even the rooms with double beds. The decor is a classic style, the room facilities does need an upgrade, for example USB connection sockets for cable.

The bathroom great size and shower has pressure. There is a Tv also near bath. The only negative the hand held shower head is fix and not adjustable to suit your height, that was frustrating.

The bed, as we other reviews they really need to upgrade the beds, not the comfiest and when staying for more then a weekend can really upset the back and was ready to leave after night 3 of 6 nights.

Positive I wasn’t feeling well and front desk and room services assisted with ordering food not available on the menu. Very grateful for this.

Breakfast was average, you pick from the menu and also have a choice of buffet. The services was slow and often did it the order wrong.

As Accor member we tired the restaurants as you get up to 50% off dining. We waited over and hour for our food and it was ok nothing special. If we didn’t get the discount I don’t think we would have dined there.

Bonjour michlaz21, Thank you very much for having stayed with us and for taking the time to share you candid comments about your recent experience at Sofitel Queenstown Hotel & Spa. It is a pleasure to read how well looked after you were by our Front Office Ambassadors and that we had the opportunity to keep you and your family all on the same floor. We like to ensure our Loyalty Members are acknowledged and we do believe recognition is very important. You had mentioned your beautifully appointed guest room however it may be in need for an upgrade. I will be honest, this is something that my Senior Management Team are currently looking into for the future and I thank you for your feedback regarding those specific points. I can see from your profile that there was an issue regarding your bed in particular, this is not our usual Sofitel High standards and I thank you for bringing this to my attention. I understand that our Housekeeping team had this issue rectified straight away however this should not be the case. I can assure you that this issue has been raised to my Senior Management Team. It is extremely disappointing that you found the food at our Left Bank Bistro not to your liking and that it was slow. I would like to apologise on behalf of the team and I would also like to have the opportunity to speak to you regarding those Food & Beverage issues. Can you please contact me on guestrelations@sofitelqueenstown.com about your recent stay as I am really sorry and surprised about your experience and I would like learn what happened in order to improve our service. I would like to thank you for your constant loyalty to Accor Hotels and truly appreciate your feedback regarding your stay. I hope to have the opportunity to speak with you in person and welcome you and your family back to Sofitel upon your next venture to Queenstown. Kind Regards, Lisa Cole Guest Relations Executive

We stayed here for four nights in July 2020 in a room with a balcony and view of the Remarkables.

Location: the hotel is about ten minutes away from the airport and right in the centre of Queenstown within just a minute's walk from the shops, restaurants, and tourist attractions. Even despite this, in our room we heard absolutely no noise.

Room: the room, and even the bathroom, were very large with plenty of wardrobe space, a coffee machine, bottled water, table and chairs, and a large tub and separate shower in the bathroom. The bed was huge.

Breakfast: for breakfast we were offered barista-made coffee and a choice of eggs or an omelette. There was also the usual selection: bacon, beans, sausages, croissants, pastries, fruit, juice, toast etc.

Club: one of the benefits of our room was that we had access to the club lounge. This was a lounge accessible by those in certain room categories with comfortable seats and a coffee machine available for the whole day. Every day from 5-7pm they offered free warm snacks (spring rolls, calamari rings, meatballs etc), biscuits, chesse and crackers etc and alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. This was a very relaxing place to have a nibble and to spend a bit of time.

Service: the service from all staff members was outstanding. They went out of their way to say hello, check that everything was ok, offer us another coffee etc. Well done! This was certainly a highlight at this hotel. In particular, the breakfast staff were kept busy but they always managed to treat us well.

We loved our stay in our Prestige Suite. The bedroom had a lovely king size bed with lovely pillows and linen. The bathroom was cosy with underfloor heating and heated towel rail. The lounge was very comfortable and we had a Nespresso coffee machine. 3 TV’s - one each in bathroom, bedroom & lounge. Staff were lovely starting with showing us to our Suite and taking the time to show us where everything was and how it worked. Reception were always willing to help with any requests. Restaurant staff looked after us well too. Breakfast was fine but not Five Star. Can’t wait for our next stay.

As we can’t go abroad we had a five day break in Queenstown, at the Sofitel Hotel & Spa. It is in a great location in the centre of town, but does not have a car park, so the options for parking are going to be expensive. There is an open car park at the back which is the cheapest, or a multi story next door which is expensive. Check in was a breeze very efficient friendly helpful staff. We had a suite which was magnificent and spotlessly clean, with views out towards the Remarkables. The suite was big with a huge lounge, and was very comfortable, housekeeping was also very good. We got drinks and canapés each evening the the lounge and the staff in there were very attentive. Breakfast was good with a choice of cooked food or cereals, and all the pastries you would expect. Again the staff were very friendly and attentive. We ate in the restaurant 1789, for dinner, food was was great. The spa is well worth visiting if you want a relaxing massage. We really enjoyed our stay and look forward to staying there again.
Draw backs, car parking
Positives the friendly staff.

Bonjour and Kia Ora kiwifarmer, We appreciate your kind review regarding your recent stay here at Sofitel Queenstown Hotel & Spa. I can see from reading your comments that you had a truly wonderful 5 day break here in Queenstown. From checking in with our friendly Front Office Ambassadors, to your beautifully appointed Suite, the beautiful Food & Beverage outlets with great choices of options, our beautiful SoSpa providing the most relaxing of massages and not to forget our wonderful Housekeeping Team ensuring your room was looked after during your time with us. I can see from your comments that our Ambassadors here at the hotel were a real positive for you, we truly pride the team we have and are extremely proud of each and everyone. It is wonderful to read how much of a positive impact they made on your stay. You had mentioned that the only draw back is that we don't have a car park, unfortunately we do only offer valet car parking as we do not have our own car park however I can see that one of my colleagues was able to help assist with alternative parking arrangements. Thank you once again for your lovely comments and we look forward to welcoming you back to Sofitel Queenstown upon your next staycation. Kind Regards, Lisa Cole Guest Relations Executive

Firstly, we found everyone working there very helpful and friendly. I have no negative comment on any individual there. The location is ideal for township. However, the building is very outdated. Our room is worn with stains on sofa and the decor is far from what I expect from Sofitel. The kind of sofa you will find in Ibis Style in Invercargill. We are not comparing Sofitel in Europe or USA, comparing with Sofitel Auckland and Wellington: Queenstown is by far below par from the standard of Sofitel we are used to. The lounge is one serious deficiency. Every evening, we had to sit outside. The staff are overwhelmed, despite their diligence and eagerness to serve us, we actually felt bad for them. Housekeeping is not available after 5pm, which is unusual for any 5* hotel we have ever stayed in. The receptionist did his best to support us. Checking out was again unacceptable. Sofitel Queenstown not only cannot offer priviledged desk for Platinum member, we had to queue 15 minutes to check out. The receptionist was so fed up that she didn't have any energy to enquire about our stay - one quick thank you and goodbye so she could serve someone else. This place is heavily understaffed. We didn't have the heart to express our dissatisfaction there and then hence this feedback. I am surprised it has the hotel has the franchise of a Sofitel - more like a Novotel in Eastern Europe, but the cost of a Sofitel.

As an AccorPlus and Accor Platinum member it was wonderful to be contacted by Harriet who did her best to upgrade our rooms for our stay. We were upgraded to a suite for some of our stay and they are massive with a large bedroom and separate lounge area including dining room table for 6. The suite interconnects with a room with 2 double beds and this room is large too. The rooms are not modern and a bit too dark for me but they are clean.
Accor platinum members get complimentary full buffet breakfast as well as ability to order more hot dishes a la carte. Comp Barista coffee too. The breakfast ladies are lovely, I always got a smile from the Asian waitresses and I did appreciate my chats with the lovely lady from Mauritius.
The lounge is small and only seats 16 people though on busier nights they let people sit in the adjacent restaurant. There is no hot food. Self service. Compared to other hotel lounges this one does not stand out.
Nick from the front desk and the guy who helped us with our luggage were continual friendly faces throughout our stay. In general we were impressed with the staff here.
The location is excellent. Up the hill is the gondola and the luge. Across the road is Fergburger. There is an excellent Italian restaurant called Bella Cucina almost at the doorstep of the hotel. 1789 the in house restaurant is only open Friday and Saturday for dinner with 50% Accor plus dining discount but given the central location of this hotel there are plenty of outside eating options.
Valet parking is expensive at $50 per day. There is no on site car park.
In summary, we enjoyed our stay. We felt this hotel really tried to welcome Accor guests. Well done to the staff here for making us feel welcome.

Bonjour NicBris76, Our normal gym is indeed currently under refurbishment, however we have relocated all of our equipment to a temporary space on level 2 of the hotel. Whilst we do not have a sauna on property, we do have a Turkish Hammam (steam bath) that is complimentary for all of our guests to use exclusively for 30 minutes in So Spa. This is not effected by the refurbishments to the gym. We hope to see you here at Sofitel Queenstown Hotel & Spa soon!

Bonjour Sunniva H, It is possible to request a roll-away bed, that will fit in a superior room. It is complementary for a child staying with parents (under 12 years old). Otherwise the extra charge for a superior room is $95 per night. I would recommend to let us know in advance, via our reservation, to place it directly into your room prior to arrival. In your case it will be free of charge (5 years old), Kind regards, Josef Caron, Guest Relations Executive
